privacy? yet for almost 20 years we could see what they bought–and there were privacy settings for certain types of merchandise, so no, I couldn’t see when the buyer was purchasing porn, LOL (IF the seller chose the privacy setting which most did.) As a seller I have few tools left to see how reliable or difficult a buyer will be. I am a private entity, I would like to have the choice whether to sell to a PITA buyer or not.

sigh…sometimes I truly believe that ebay is anti-seller–what harm is there in letting us see what potential buyers have purchased?

Great post. The “art” of picking is really the art of seeing.
Love the cat abstract Ryanne
I know that you don’t want to be too specific, but what style of furniture piece was this? Antique? mid century modern?
03/26/2017 at 2:28 pm in reply to: Pottery mystery initials; How to describe coloration and style of MCM pitcher #15324My guess–Hand painted by an amateur from a commercially produced unglazed blank (there used to be pottery shops where you can buy such unglazed blanks and paint and fire the piece yourself, and I am pretty sure that your pitcher is one of these–maybe kate will give her input.)
Total Items in Store: etsy 415, ebay 212
Items Sold: 16 (14 etsy, 2 ebay)
Total Sales: $470.92 (89.99 ebay, 380.93 etsy)
Highest Price Sold: $65 (bracelet on ebay)
Average Price Sold: $29
Returns: 0slower week in term of $, but still decent. your second store proves that there is no getting around it–to have consistent sales you need to be consistently listing–my own ebay store has been somewhat neglected as etsy has taken over as my main sales platform (as a singleton doing this with no help I have to prioritize and concentrate my effort on where my sales are coming from.)
The key to Wrangler is older (not made in China) and the blue bell symbol is a good indication of age, as is the term “sanforized.” Newer jeans only command “used” value.

your options are travel–good for the summer, find thrift stores online (I am not far from you in WA, stores are a bit pricey but I find stuff.) I also would look into second hand stores and Antique malls–you would be surprised at the good deals available in Malls and antique shops, just be careful of expenses (which are tax deductible) stay in cheaper hotels, eat cheaply, gas prices are pretty low, and a trip of even as short as a week might yield weeks worth of inventory.
Advertise that you “buy estates, no estate too small,” in your area–(you do need cash on hand for this option, but I have had some luck with this in the past.)
buy online–of the 24 items on the first page of my etsy shop, 12 came from an online auction, and 12 from a local auction house that has bidding online. Only 3 of my items came from a thrift store. I use proxibid.com (just make sure, if you are buying out of state to concentrate on light goods, and, essential, look for an auction who has “in house shipping” some auction outsource to the local UPS store which is very expensive.

I never pass up Indian clubs or old wooden barbells–I have gotten up to $100 for a pair of these.
for the first photo I always pull a little back and do a wide shot–see how it looks on etsy, Vertical shots really make you pull back–these are tall and this is about as close as I could get without etsy taking the top and bottom off: https://www.etsy.com/listing/517830939/antique-primitive-wood-wooden-indian?ref=shop_home_active_15
