just keep in mind that for the first photo etsy prefers big and wide–I use the postcard setting on my camera, you also have limited function for editing on etsy. It is not ideal, I prefer ebay’s “square” but you gotta work with what is available.
speaking of Bonanza, looks like they are getting some competition from this site: https://www.prairiegrit.com/
I agree with Ryanne–paintings–>good otherwise I would pass on them.
I recently had a package show as delivered (a $125 package at that) as it turns out, the package was scanned as delivered but didn’t really get delivered until the next day. Since the buyer was so freaked out by the erroneous scan, I opened a case with the USPS–some carriers have GPS enabled on their scanner which may indicate where the package actually went if it is legit missing–you can file on the USPS website, or call the USPS number and they can walk you through the process, that said, there was bad weather, with an exception and I suspect that the package will show up (keep tracking it) but to calm my skittish customer, I went ahead and opened the case (You get a case number) and you should consider doing the same.

My week:
Total Items in Store: etsy, 420, ebay, 216
Items Sold: 13 (5 on ebay, 7 on etsy)
Total Sales: $600.97 ($279.98 on ebay, $320.99 on etsy)
Highest Price Sold: $125 (antique ring on etsy)
Average Price Sold: $50
Returns: 0Is that your rabbit laying on the blanket Eve?
“having to take a loss on an item (paid $80, sold $65)” I do that too when I make a mistake, I just want to get stuff out the door and hope that such losses are rare and that the money can be put to better use.
I would say that having your employee has boosted your sales considerably. As far as getting much more for the medal than others are asking–you guys are amazing. I have honestly tried to do the same on some things, but it usually doesn’t work for me. On to my numbers:
Total Items in Store: 420 etsy, 215 ebay
Items Sold: 17–4 on ebay, 13 on etsy
Total Sales: $809.95 ($117 on ebay, $689.97 on etsy)
Highest Price Sold: $200 (Thonet chair on etsy)
Average Price Sold: $62
Returns: 0I had an excellent week too–I assume that tax refunds are starting to come in and people are treating themselves.

A few sales:
I bought 2 of these at an online auction paying $12 a piece, the fancier of the 2 sold quickly for $40 and this one brought $35 I am quite pleased.
from a box lot sold for $28

From a local auction, paid $40 sold for $85

bought as part of a lot for about $10 or less, sold for $55–if the brooch had been marked “Unger Brothers” I could have gotten much more, so keep your eyes pealed.

bought at a local auction for $40 all in, sold for $200.
I have about 30% of my inventory cross listed–I do it the old fashioned way, but since I tend to find the same sort of things over and over, I use my previous sold listings on etsy (which thankfully never fall off) as templates–makes listing go much faster.
when I had surgery I put my etsy store on vacation–or you could also change the handling time and notify any buyer of the longer than usual mail date. I had just started on etsy when I put my store on vacation but others who have done it complain on the etsy forum of sales taking a longer time to rebound after their store becomes active again.

Now let’s talk taxes… #13995you have really beautiful and interesting things in your store–people on ebay have no taste, LOL. ebay is really slow for me too and I have way more time than you to work on it. to be honest, right now I am really disenchanted with ebay and its cranky customers.
ugh. I try to avoid online auctions that don’t do inhouse shipping like the plague. If you know the shipping weight call both shippers and get a quote.
It occurred to me that, despite my advice up thread, that I have always shipped out underpriced items, one thing I HATE is when people who missed out on the deal contact me to tell me what a fool I have been, LOL. In the past I have sold an Italian ceramic vase for $700 that was worth over $2000 (the buyer, it was an auction, actually apologized for the price, LOL) and a print by a famous artist whose signature I couldn’t read went for $600 that was worth around $3000, of course I knew nothing of this when I offered the items on auction. On the other hand, if you are doing this as a living, it would be difficult to leave that kind of money on the table…a difficult decision to be sure.

Ebay is frustratingly slow and yes, horrible, insulting lowball offers aplenty. I am a little burnt out truth be told…
