Jay, As I said, you can’t really EMBED a video anymore. As the policy you quoted, you can LINK to one, if you follow those rules and the instruction page I posted, you’ll end up with something like the example I posted (which works on PC and Mobile)
I think the instructional page you are looking for is here:
Nancy, I don’t think you can EMBED a video within a listing description anymore. You can LINK to a video, which will put the video image in your description, but when clicked on, it will play in a new page. Here’s an example (not my item):
Is this what you want to do?
The Announcement is ambiguous, but there is a clarification on the ebay for business Facebook page:
“We’re delaying enforcement until sometime after March 2018. We’ll share another update when we have a firm date”
So the policy has NOT changed, the only thing that has happened is the date for compliance has been postponed to a new, to-be-announced date.
I don’t use watermarks, so it’s no big deal for me, but if sellers interpret the announcement as changing the policy itself, and start adding watermarks to new listings, they are going to be less than happy when the new date is announced.
Thanks Christine— I do think with eBay’s emphasis on New stuff, those of us selling used and vintage definitely need to at least consider doing marketing beyond eBay. I like the List it and Forget it idea, but I’m not averse to trying to give sales a little nudge LOL
ChristineR, I’ve just started doing that, in a very small way, and so far it looks like I’ve probably added some views to a few things, but I don’t think any sales have resulted from it (no way to know for sure). What groups are you using? I’ve been using a couple ebay seller type groups, but wonder if I should be using category specific type groups?
LOL! Yep, it isn’t that people aren’t buying. It’s WHAT they are buying this time of year. Only a small percentage will look at my stuff and say “Gee, that would be a swell gift for Bob!”

There’s no question people are buying…but we’re not selling ebay Daily Deals, some of which are flying off the shelves. I strongly agree with Jay—-this time of year, a lot depends on what you sell. Last year, we had stocked up (retail arbitrage) on Aerogardens….which sat for months until closer to Christmas, and then became a great steady seller…I’m sure many people were buying them as gifts. This year, we don’t have any RA type stuff, and our sales are more hit or miss. We’re just going to keep on listing, and if I luck into a good retail arbitrage item somewhere, great. If not, we just keep listing LOL I’m also trying running some sales, and dipping my toe into Social Media waters. But for the most part, it’s just the rinse and repeat of trash elf life…..
Learn something new everyday…..that’s one thing I love about doing this!
Two things I noticed in the GD FAQs that I think have changed:
For Shipping Time GD, the rules originally required that the seller print with ebay labels. the FAQ now says: “Note: eBay is temporarily waiving the eBay labels requirement for the handling time option of Guaranteed Delivery.”Also, GD requires Immediate payment on listings. The FAQs now state: “eBay will automatically set immediate payment on listings under $100 that otherwise meet all Guaranteed Delivery requirements, so you don’t have to.”
11/09/2017 at 7:08 pm in reply to: Being Locked Into Cross Promotions When Creating a Sale w/ No Choice for Opt Out #25349And again, I’m still not seeing the problem. You say: “. Using Cross Promotional gives eBay much more control over the elements involved in having a sale and takes away choices” Which elements? To me, there are three main elements to a Sales Event/MM: duration, which items to put on sale, and amount of discount. Whether the sale itself is cross promoted or not, I still make those choices, not ebay.
That’s Holy Trinity Church, where he was baptized and is buried. I read the artist’s name as Charles J. Dadson. Personally, I like the frame. Is it an oil painting? What are the framed dimensions?
Gompers, I agree. I wish I could find a steady supply of that sort of stuff. As to the rich buying here because they don’t want to be seen in a thrift store? Probably true for some, but I suspect time is also a big factor….they don’t have time to run around to thrift stores and dig through racks trying to find the hidden gems. That’s also why some online sellers focus on “curating” stuff they sell to the upper tier at crazy high prices…
One thing J and R taught me: Remember you are not your buyer. I have to remind myself when I buy (just because I don’t like something, doesn’t mean there’s no buyer for it) and when I price (just because I wouldn’t pay more than five bucks for something, doesn’t mean there isn’t someone who’d happily pay fifty)
I do think a good many ebay buyers are quite well off, and, yes, we are (for many things) the equivalent of an online thrift store. I also think there are a lot of “aspirational” buyers on eBay…rising business execs, for example, who save money by buying their wardrobe (and other stuff) here as they climb up the ladder. And of course, set designers, costumers and interior decorators love ebay, too.
