I’ve been in the Real Real store in Manhattan where its all super high end designer used clothes and shoes.
–What kind of items are you sending in?
–Do you find the items in Thrift Stores?
–Whats the Real Real process to accept and authenticate?
–How much do they pay or what percentage do they take?
–Do they store and ship the item?Scavenging isnt worth being uncomfortable. You could always ask him to meet you in the nearest town and offer to pay his gas money.
Yep, dont reply. eBay created the system for buyer’s to open a case if they have an issue.
You have good instincts. There’s photo. That’s the color. Buyers who start griping about the shade of a color are usually always an issue.
Cool. I wish eBay would make the chat more obvious.
Huh, does eBay still have a live chat? I thought everyone was just using email or facebook if they didnt want to call?

Thats a good question. I’m not sure. You can always call eBay to ask.
As a seller, I’d want you to call eBay in case they do takes notes on buyers who abuse they system.
What you’ve described is the stuff of nightmares for an eBay seller. It’s what drives the despair and flailing anger in the eBy forums. Causes an otherwise healthy person to become paranoid and hateful of all eBay buyers.
What you describe is also the big hole in any online selling system. What do you do when the buyer just lies. They got the correct item, but say they didnt. It’s your word against theirs.
The same nightmare could go the other way. You buy an item. Seller sends you a brick and says it’s a new air of shoes. There’s tracking and has weight.
So what to do? When it arrives, call eBay. Explain the situation. Likely they’ll tell you to process the return. You can hold back their return shipping. You can even hold back money and say they sent you a damaged item. But then the buyer can dispute your claim and get messy. I wouldnt blame you if you just refunded and moved on.
In twelve years of selling full time, we’ve never had a buyer lie to this extent. People are good. Buyers and sellers all want this to work. You got a bad one. Hopefully by calling eBay, there will be a note on this account. When he does it gain, eBay will see it and ban him. Throw him in the volcano.

07/06/2020 at 6:10 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 470: How Would You Start Your Business Today? #79170eBay kind of weeds out the amateurs with their requirements to sell so it makes it a better platform for both buyers and sellers.
Good point. Amazon works the same way. There is a bar that new sellers must rise to in order to sell. If not, its all just trash and bad behavior.
Its fine for Craigslist or Facebook where you’ll eventually meet in person to pick up. But as you said, shipping is a while other level of organization that many people cant handle.
A lot of sellers get caught up in the buyer’s drama, go to war, and usually lose. Seems dumb. If you know the eBay and Paypal rules, then you never have to talk to the buyer.
Calm and business-like wins the day.

I’ve heard other sellers say they get approached because people know they sell on eBay. Who’s offering you crazy deals?
In our rural town, people are less likely to sell to you if they know you’re going to flip for a profit. The thinking is you are making money off them.
07/06/2020 at 4:53 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 470: How Would You Start Your Business Today? #79162The $7.11 flat rate applies to everything up to 5 pounds. There’s no way that can last.
And thus begins a platform becoming “complicated” 🙂
It seems buyers have months and months to file a Paypal claim. But even if she does, she has to prove she sent the item with tracking. If she doesnt provide tracking, just call Paypal and close the case.
