If you have Free Returns, you can refund her just 50% of the item. A good option if you think the book can be resold.
If she’s willing to keep the book and pay to have it shipped back to her, why not take her up on it. You lose nothing. If she’s admitting fault and asking you to mail it back, then eBay will see all this info. I’d ship back with a tracking number (not media mail).
Sucks these things happen. Just part of the game. These issues are like .01 percent of the sales.

If she’s from England, then I think you’re right that our cultural upbringings would be similar enough. You could always try her out for a couple weeks to see how she does. Nothing is more satisfying than giving a helper a pile of items and seeing them ready to list by end of day.

They are from the late 70’s. There is one from 1978 Willie Nelson picnic, which fits me perfectly. Now am torn, should I keep or sell. I think I could get a very good price for them all.
Wow! Those would be very valuable. I’d sell.

It depends on your inventory. If you have homogenous inventory that is easy to research, sure. They can just copy and paste from online. Like Amazon stuff. Or Books that have easy to read labels.
But a virtual helper in another country would not be helpful to us. How would someone in the Philippines know what 90% of what we sell is. No labels or box. So much of it depends on knowledge of US culture. My concern would be spending so much time managing someone else.
Do you think your inventory lends itself to being understood by someone in another country?

It’s very nice to have a partner in the eBay adventure. Fun to scavenge together. Fun to work daily. Fun to share the excitement when things sell.
Fun to be together all the time because online sales buys your time and lets you do what you want.

07/13/2020 at 9:19 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 471: Building Equity, Our Free Scavenger Education #79525Its likely because USPS is going through huge losses. The current administration wants to help: https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2020/04/21/us-postal-service-losing-money
Thanks for the update. Many people announce themselves and we never hear from them again 🙂
I’m glad you had a chance to pursue your career and determine if it worked for you or not. It may come back around as you settle down somewhere. We need theater. I think an eBay business compliments working in the arts.
Very cool you have a new storage space. Start filling it!
This is a good point. There’s definitely a difference between being “rural” and being “remote”. In our county, there’s definitely areas where you’re totally on your own including maintaining your own roads, no internet, and water, or sewer.
Have you been listing other items over the past two years? Or are you just now a hat store. All hats, all the time?

Nice update two years later. $40k sales on a $600 investment is a haul of a lifetime. Good job putting in the work. I doubt it was easy photographing and listing 3600 hats.
Yeah, if you’re willing to live 30 minutes from “the big box stores”, then life is cheap. You pay a premium to be in the middle of things.
I kind of want rural life to remain a secret. I love parking right in front of any place I want to go.
