Welcome Mike. A super fascinating story that I’m glad has a great ending. Stock crash, accident, debt, redemption!
Are you back to selling custom knives? How are you doing so well so quickly? Sounds like you havent lost your touch.

An Anchor Subscription is $299/month, so you’d just need to see how much in listing fees you pay.
That’s right. Im dumb. People are buying fabric to make masks.
Thats cool that etsy allows pre-orders. Makes total sense with the original nature of the “hand made” vibe of the sites early years.
eBay does allow long handling time too. But there’s a real struggle against Drop Shippers who list thousands of new items that they don’t own. They wait for a sale, then purchase the item and ship it. Can often involve slow shipping and bad customer service because the seller is not in charge of the order.
Why do you think fabric is selling so well?
So you sold out your stock, ordered more, and are now taking pre-orders? Any worry that your new stock may be delayed?
eBay lets you extend handing time to up to 30 business days but must happen before the sale. If someone bought before we changed the handling time, we’d need to cancel the sale if we couldnt ship for a while. Maybe Etsy is different, but usually platforms like for sellers to have stock ready to ship.
Whats a pre-order item? Can you give an example?
Understood. I guess if the fees are to actually keep supply down, then that’s an interesting reason. But I’m suspicious. More items would mean more pressure for people to lower prices. If prices are too low, then people should stop selling clothes.
We still havent hit our 10k limit on the Anchor subscription so not a big deal. I just finding listing fees to be a false/oldfashioned charge. Amazon doesnt charge to list. Craigslist. Server space is cheap.
Thanks for the links.
Bascially you get more free listings only if you list in the categories:
Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop > Sports Trading Cards
–Toys & Hobbies > Collectible Card Games
–Collectibles
–Music
–Books
–DVDs & Movies
–Stamps
–Video Games & Consoles > Video Games
–Crafts
–Home & Garden > Greeting Cards & Party Supply > Party SuppliesSeems good for people who sell books and media. Why not just give more free listings all around? So vey specific.

07/15/2020 at 5:00 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 471: Building Equity, Our Free Scavenger Education #79618I actually think the act of scavenging stuff to sell short circuits some kind of primal urge to purchase stuff. I get the thrill of having something new and then passing it on to someone else and get the second thrill of the sale.
Yeah, we’re now “thrift scolds”. I’m glad people buy and spend if they have the money. Life is to be enjoyed.
But because we’re scavengers to our core, it’s very difficult for us to buy full price retail. Its so satisfying finding something a good quality for a great deal. The best!
beggars cant be choosers 🙂

And not to rain on your parade, but this might be why your Hawaiian shirts are selling lately:

07/15/2020 at 8:59 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 470: How Would You Start Your Business Today? #79596I think there is scavenging to be done anywhere on Earth especially if you have access to a global market. It all boils down to knowledge and information – being smart enough to know where there are arbitrage margins – whether big or small – to be made.
Yep, this is it in a nutshell.
Huh, not sure I knew there was a page that let you request it. Did you test it out?
