If you think that’s bad, look at this. I’m surprised ebay actually allows this.
Changing the “ship from zip code” won’t impact 1st class or flat rate shipping prices. It would only impact priority mail (non flat rate) and possibly fedex or ups rates. If you are in the same “zone” non flat rate priority won’t be affected either.
For example, IL + IN are in the same zone, so no reason to change “ship from zip code”

and choose “apps.endicia.com/zonemap” you will be taken to another page in which you can type your own zip code in the top left corner to get your “zones”I’ve experienced that here in CT too. For those who don’t know CT has some very wealthy areas, but some really poor areas too. I’ve heard some of these wealthy people say “I’ll just donate it to get the tax write off” but they don’t realize you can’t receive the full retail value of items that are donated. Some of the goodwill stores in CT have shirts marked at $75 dollars and sofas at $2000. There is a you tuber here in CT that actually showed these prices on his channel. I’ve seen these prices in person too.
FWiW, even in CT I find the best deals in the low income (not necessarily ghetto) areas even at the thrift stores. I’m going to guess its because people in these areas need the money more than they need a tax write off.
At garage sales when people say “I can get xx for that on ebay” I say go ahead and see what happens. Between fees and taxes I lose 30% of every sale right off the top. IF you’re new to paypal and ebay they will hold your money for 3 weeks to boot, but if you want cash now I can give it to you. After hearing that some people change their mind, but I usually don’t bother with the speech unless its something that I really want.
Estate sale companies around here are out of sight too. Usually they put their names on the craigslist ads so I know to avoid them. I’m not sure why they think they can price everything at ebay prices and expect stuff to sell, but they continue doing it. Maybe that’s how people end up with barns and garages full of stuff after 20 years.
One estate sale I went to last year held by a company had great stuff super cheap. I spent about 3 hours in the house and found all kinds of stuff from video games, toner, old computer hard ware and software, etc. Walked out with 3 boxes full of stuff for 25$ and probably made $800 profit on that stuff.
This year I see their name again for another estate sale and no dice. They apparently found someone who knows how to use ebay and set all their prices to match.
Luckily no one around here knows how to use Amazon, and I can still find profit over there on some things that aren’t profitable on ebay (especially electronics). Estate companies haven’t figured this out yet, and hopefully they never will.
Thanks that size would probably work. Uline charges too much for shipping, but I can probably find those boxes on ebay.
Way back in the old days I accepted personal checks and money orders. I think you could choose that as a payment option. I remember going to the bank with about 10 personal checks once, then keeping track of when they cleared. In the early days, it seemed like most people tried to avoid paypal.
A quick word on money orders for the current ebayer. IF someone insists on sending you a money order, you should insist they buy a USPS postal money order and here’s why.
A USPS money order can be verified at the post office and cashed there if you have ID.
If you don’t believe me, next time you’re at the post office ask them.(It’s possible small rural post offices won’t have the equipment and/or cash on hand to verify/cash money orders though).
Cashiers checks are easy to forge, so I wouldn’t accept them.
The couple times buyers have asked to send me money orders, I told them I only accept USPS money orders and I never heard from them again.
I don’t know for sure or if this is even possible, but he may have purchased it on the US ebay website. Others who know more about domain names can probably fill in the blanks, but I know that I can go to ebay.uk and buy products there (which I can not see on the ebay US site)
Getting those purchases shipped to me is a whole different story though.In your case you should be able to cancel the sale without penalty, but you should call ebay to confirm.
What amazon buyers don’t understand is unless you have amazon prime acct it can take a few days for your order just to leave the warehouse. Amazon does a poor job of communicating this to its customer base.
I still sell items thru FBA and on occasion get questions/complaints from customers who have ordered my product(s) but amazon was slow to ship, but they think its my fault.
You can tell the difference if you look at your amazon FBA sales if it says “standard shipping” that person is a non prime member. If it says “second day” they are prime. If it says “next day” I’m not sure, but I think any customer can request overnight shipping if they are willing to pay for it.
I don’t buy much on amazon, and prefer to use ebay as much as possible, but IME the 3rd party sellers (aka FBM) are faster to ship than amazon itself. I am not a prime member.
I list the tag size in the title and the specifics and the item description. Mens jeans seem to always include the inseam so it would be something simple like
Levi’s means jeans 34 x 32 #509 boot cut dark denim new with tags (you can adjust to fit your needs like stonewash instead of dark denim)
Last time I had some womens jeans I don’t think the inseam was listed, but maybe it was just that brand. I did take measurements. If the jeans have a qualifier like “plus” or “petite” I would include that too. A sample of one of my old listings

InseamI have not had a single return yet, but I’ve only sold about 40 pairs of jeans in my ebay career. (20 mens – 20 womens)
In regards to potential returns I charge shipping on all jeans and nearly all clothes as a hedge against returns. I don’t think charging shipping has impacted sales at all. I am not a big clothes seller, but if I find something good I will pick it up to resell.
In the future you can also try looking up the street address in google maps. I’ve done that before to make sure its valid.
There are websites that will place orders for customers who don’t speak/read the native language.
For example, some one speaks Mandarin but cant speak English and vice versa. There’s a website for that.
I have some vinyl to sell. How are you shipping vinyl records? I see on ebay vinyl record mailers that run about $20 for 25. Is this the best option ?
I noticed this a couple years ago. I use the automatic decline/accept feature. If a buyer sends an offer outside of that range I manually decline then message them the price I will accept.
This way I can still change items specifics on the listing.I no longer do best offers, but in the past when I tried it I was getting a lot of offers then I would counter (sometimes just a difference of 1$) and the buyer wouldn’t respond. Thereby, locking down my listing for 48 hours (i.e. I can’t change it) Who would care about $1 ?
This was mostly in the video game category and my suspicion was that other sellers were fishing to see how low a price I would accept or they wanted my listing locked down (i.e. can’t change price) so they could sell their item first.
The video game category has great sell thru rates, so 48 hours could make a difference.
I actually had someone ask me questions after the sale was complete and they had the item.
It was a box set of a TV series and they wanted to know if I was the original owner. Not sure why that would matter. I told them no my sister was.
It was actually something I bought at goodwill. I was thinking maybe I left a goodwill price sticker on it by accident, but I never heard from them again, so who knows.
IMO when people write “pre pack” they actually mean “test pack” which is what I do with most packages. For example, if I sell a board game I will test pack that game into the different priority boxes to see which one fits. The largest board game priority mail box costs $16.55 flat rate. knowing that I add the shipping price or account for it in the items listing.
Some people don’t do this and get surprised by the shipping costs.
Imagine if you sold a board game for $10 with free shipping. In the above example you would actually lose $6.55.
I’m not much of an expert on golf clubs, but I would sell them in groups. All the woods one group, all the irons one group, all the wedges one group. I think the only clubs that are worth selling separate are drivers and putters.
You should double check listings though since you never know if you stumbled upon a rare gem of a club.
Selling in groups also saves on shipping costs.
