The tape and stickers in the commercial should be available by the end of July…I think it’s being unveiled at eBay Open. I think there are some stickers already available, but not all colors…

Love that they are spotlighting the shopping cart feature! All the time people buy multiple items separately even though it says in my very brief description to get combined shipping with the shopping cart.
I made a book order from Amazon after cancelling prime in January. The shipping was unbelievably slow and I didn’t look at the estimate since it wasn’t a third party seller. Maybe if that is common, it has something to do with the upcoming shipping policy changes at Ebay.
I think Ebay and Etsy both have good opportunities right now. It will be interesting to see what happens as Walmart continues to ramp up. I’m a big Target fan, so I’m rooting for them. Fun to watch it all unfold.

What amazon buyers don’t understand is unless you have amazon prime acct it can take a few days for your order just to leave the warehouse. Amazon does a poor job of communicating this to its customer base.
I still sell items thru FBA and on occasion get questions/complaints from customers who have ordered my product(s) but amazon was slow to ship, but they think its my fault.
You can tell the difference if you look at your amazon FBA sales if it says “standard shipping” that person is a non prime member. If it says “second day” they are prime. If it says “next day” I’m not sure, but I think any customer can request overnight shipping if they are willing to pay for it.
I don’t buy much on amazon, and prefer to use ebay as much as possible, but IME the 3rd party sellers (aka FBM) are faster to ship than amazon itself. I am not a prime member.

Wow, that’s definitely an ad trying to break the old perception of eBay. It’s fun!

I had to laugh when I saw they end with the word “ebay” in all one color!
Did anyone else pick up on the commentary about how eBay is pushing the fact that over 80% of its items are new? They really are pushing out of the secondary market! I thought eBay started as a place for used items?

Amatino, I think the all in one color is how it will appear on the tape and stickers…which will be offered in multiple colors. The background changes colors, ends with blue, but it’s those colors that are being used for “colorful”….
Pushing out of the secondary market? Well, Amazon started as a place to buy books…are you under the impression that Amazon has pushed out of the book business? last I looked they were still offering millions of books for sale. I don’t think ebay is pushing out of the secondary market, but they are…and have been, for many years, expanding beyond it—but that doesn’t mean they are pushing out of it.
So, I don’t think we secondary market people have to worry that ebay wants us gone.

For a long time, eBay has moved to advertise that its a marketplace for new products. In the big picture, this is where the money is.
But there’s no reason why they would actively kick sellers like us off. We still make them money. Again, there no issue of space since its all a virtual marketplace. Amazon FBA has the issue with actual storage space.

Jay, I agree, the real money is in the new stuff. and there is much less of a moat these days for the used stuff—people can sell at yard sales, flea markets, Facebook Craigslist etc—there’s no way ebay could ever be the be all and end all for the secondary market. BUT ebay WANTS us because we are one of the major ways ebay can distinguish itself from Amazon and the other big players.

EXACTLY! The quirky weirdoes (like us) who sell on eBay is what give eBay the “you can find anything there” reputation.
Amazon will have a hard time now that Walmart and others are gunning for the new stuff. People will just search price when its all the same stuff made in Chinese factories.
