So I was researching some items I’m listing on eBay and came across this seller:
http://www.ebay.com/usr/rvjensen5zd3?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
What I found so amusing about their listings is that they put this sexy, barely clothed mannequin in the photos and it has absolutely nothing to do with the item they’re selling. They dress it up in different types of lingerie and pose it looking at the items their listing.
I don’t have a problem with this, but it’s kind of a strange sales tactic. What do you all think?

he has 172 followers, and I’ll bet his view counts are enviable. But is it an effective marketing technique? Hard to say….

The salesperson photo appears to be a woman. I’d bet it costs her more sales than it brings in. Tacky and most people would NOT want that kind of thing showing up in their ebay history.

That has got to be one of the strangest things I have seen…. great conversation starter.

I zoomed in on the seller photo and it’s actually a man. If you look closely you’ll see the moustache.

It’s a great tactic if you’re buyers are 14 year old boys.

If you are going to use that tactic, for goodness sakes hire a real human model for the photos. The mannequins are just creepy.

That is the last thing I would have expected to find on eBay.
If you scroll through, it appears that the seller is selling to a very specific audience and not the general public. It appears that that very specific audience is very comfortable leaving feedback which is kind of surprising.
I have been shocked as to the level of “visual demonstration” people will go to sell their items. I had no idea until I started researching on eBay. Researching a simple item can bring up pictures that look as if they should be in an adult magazine or “specialized” adult online store.

Why hire a real human when this seems to be effective?

If you think that’s bad, look at this. I’m surprised ebay actually allows this.

Sellers have been doing that sort of thing on ebay for years and years.

You can sell military medals on ebay. I’d sell mine if they were worth anything! 😉
