I agree. Those dangling “make offer” lists are annoying.
I have a few techniques to reduce the list but there are still somethings that still get left behind.
I am continually running “a buy one get one free” sale on my laserdiscs. So when ever a laserdisc pops up on the list I send a 5% off offer with the following message:
As laserdiscs are labor-intensive to pack & ship, I can’t offer much of a discount on a single item.
Instead of a 5% discount consider my buy 1 get 1 free offer – just click on the link at the top of the listing.
That turns my useless offer into a free advertisement.
If I have free shipping of the item I may also send the 5% off with a note “now with free shipping” (doesn’t matter if it was always free or not). Sometimes these notes push the wimbling watcher over the edge.
I was doing great until Wednesday night, then it’s like someone pulled a switch and shut me down. 1 sale on Thursday and 3 small sales Friday. I got tons of ridiculous low ball offers (10.00 on things I was listing for 100.00 – really people?)
Summer is here I guess. All I can do is keep listing 🙂
Strangely I keep expecting a drop and it has not occurred. I have notice a drop in volume but a rise in my average selling prices. I am selling quite a few more higher ticket items (higher for me $50.00 to $100.00 range).
I have been listing and sourcing like crazy and each week a few really good finds have pulled me through. Don’t know if it will last or not.
Rare books typically stay rare, but other items value can fluctuate very quickly. I sell a lot of out of print DVDs. The rare ones can sell for as much as $300.00 but all it it takes is one reissue and they instantly become worthless.
Typically, I am willing to go 10%-20% less than the going average if I can get a quick flip.
Yeah wasn’t worth it for a 200 mile drive. I could see this person refusing to meet at a neutral location (after I traveled) to teach me a lesson.
2 million dollars for these previous relics of a time past.
Thanks!
Texas Gal is a wee bit to precious but her process is good.
6 x 4 x4 box and then inside a padded envelope. Never had a problem.
It comes and goes as an option. I have used it a couple of times and it vanished again.
LOL I was just thinking to myself this morning, “Do I really need to keep paying for inkfrog”?
Guess so…

COGS $47.42
Total Profit $189.45

New Listings: 33One year ago I had one of my worst weeks ever. Last week was my best. While I have learned a lot in the past year about what to list (and more importantly what not to list) – the great sales number from last week have to be some sort of COVID boost. Shouldn’t the dead of summer be the slowest time of the year?
Sadly no- not with Global Shipping.
Agreed. Thanks
I decided against magic eraser. I did a bit of internet research and it turns out magic eraser isn’t magic. It is just a very fine sandpaper. I don’t think I want to rub sandpaper (no matter how fine) on enamel. I decided to just show the defects in the listing.
will do!
