Oh gosh! I’m glad I am not alone. I have already lost on at least 2 packages in which I accurately posted the shipping weight on the the listing, only to have to pay into the shipping! ugh. I was kind of upset about it and do not understand how this can happen. I don’t even remember which 2 packages, but I had to fork out cash from my paypal for both. Next time I will definitely call ebay. Both times, it was too late to call them and I just wanted to get the package to the post office.
10/11/2019 at 4:17 am in reply to: The Most Comprehensive List of Helpful Items to Remove Stains #68885I remove oil paint and acrylic paint from my brushes using Murphy’s Oil. I’m pretty sure it will work on clothing. I soak my paint brushes at least overnight. In 24 hours I rinse, and voila! Paint is gone!
Also, I worked somewhere doing alterations where they kept putting tap water in the iron. No…use distilled water! Anyhow, they wouldn’t listen to me…so when I picked up the iron to press my collar-oops-rusty water came out. I grabbed a bottle of “Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover Laundry Spray”, followed the directions, and gone! No more rust.
Grandmas Secret can be found at JoAnn’s for about $10. or online. Some places have 2 bottles for $10. online.10/11/2019 at 3:58 am in reply to: Is this a Tapestry, Needle Point or Embroidery – Also how would you describe it #68884The first one is “chicken scratch”…somehow I managed to erase the words “chicken scratch”.
10/11/2019 at 3:57 am in reply to: Is this a Tapestry, Needle Point or Embroidery – Also how would you describe it #68883Cross stitch is a series of “x”s-thus “cross”. It is also referred to as “chicken scratch”-I believe it is used interchangeably, however, I do believe the “chicken scratch” term is mainly used when sewn on gingham fabric (think the red and white picnic tablecloths pattern). Yes, I agree, needlework is the correct term for all of the embroideries. When listing, I have seen many ebayers incorrectly list their items as “needlepoint”, when in fact it is cross stitch, but to be on the safe side, I think using all of the keywords would be your best bet to get the most views. Bargello is another style of needlepoint and of course there are many others. I mention bargello because it’s more of a 70’s look (think jaggedy zig zags. Embroidery, while a broad term, is more commonly referred to a series of different stitches used in a work. And then there is crewel work.
You could go down a whole rabbit hole in just embroidery and the various stitches!

Steve, Yes, Gerald Nees is amazing! Chuck Close is another amazing artist who, while not completely paralyzed as Gerald Nees, he is partially paralyzed. Chuck Close does large scale work (I believe all of his work is portraits-many self portraits. I’ve linked below for those interested. Enjoy!
Thanks Jay!
I did Google and did not get what you got. Interesting. Weird. But interesting. I can’t get a photo of the $500. listing but that’s okay. I have a basis to start with. Again, thanks! So far, my inventory system has not failed me. When I list an item, I throw it in a tote. I give the tote a number, something like “BL-20″ BL=Blue tote, 20=1 of 20. Simple. Then I try to put different items in that tote. I will combine a dress, a book, a swimsuit, a cookie cutter, a piece of art, a ceramic piggy bank, etc. I try not to mix like with like only because I find it much easier to find said item when there are different items in one box. So far, this has worked great for me. The only exception to this, is ceramic trivets or square tiles (typically 6″x 6”) These, I put in small boxes for easy access. So far so good!
Wow Steves Stuff! That’s awesome! I have a connection at one of my retailers and one of the managers saves me a huge bag of bubble wrap. I love getting that huge bag of recycled bubble wrap! I feel like I hit the lottery when I go pick it up. It is so useful and all of it is clean. I am able to be generous when packing and that makes me feel better about shipping fragile items. I just shipped a huge bowl I was so worried about and luckily, the buyer left positive feedback. Made me feel good to know they liked the item and that it arrived safely.
Jay, I know in some states, it is illegal to dumpster dive. In Illinois, it’s okay to dumpster dive. I have never done it, but if push came to shove, I would not be opposed to it.

Thank you, Sharyn. The link worked! Blocked.
Just got off the phone with ebay. Got the negative removed. Yay! I realized right before I called that I had listed the size of the item both in the title and in the listing. Still cannot believe the buyer felt compelled to leave negative feedback. All’s well that end’s well!
Thanks Mark, and Vintage Treasures, I’ll do that in the morning.
Thanks, AJ Moose. The beads were not affected by the acetone. And no color came off of the beads. I still have not been able to figure out what, exactly these beads are. Wouldn’t the color come off if they were howlite? I would imagine, but not sure.
OfferUp too, unfortunately.
