It looks like a purse hook to me. Or a money clip. But more like a purse hook.
01/01/2020 at 6:26 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Cassette decks, Reel tapes, Iroquois China, Hats, Typewriter #72342Sharyn, I have one of those stools. The basic shape is the same, with a concave base and decorative underside, with vents. The legs on mine do screw off. A neighbor of my was an Egyptologist and told me that it was for incense and that the top of the base should also be removable, as this is where you would put the incense. I cannot confirm that, but this is what she told me a while back. My base does not come off, it is welded. My neighbor tried to remove the top of the base, but to no avail.
Good luck with that sale. I hope the buyer does not return it!Good observation, Jay. Did not think of that.
Please let us know if you find out.
Could it be one of those pottery bases for a water fountain? Maybe? That’s my guess.
Ironically, this December, my sales were the highest. Weird. But a good problem to have. I was stunned at what sold. Last year however, was horrible. I think if I made $100. all month, I was lucky. I think it’s just a crap shoot. When I looked at the “stats” on ebay, it read that I was doing better than the market. I have no idea why. Don’t get me wrong-I did not break the bank-just did better than last year at this time.
I had a few high dollar items (for my store). I sold 1 cookie mold for $99.(I paid $6. for it) after an offer. Another sold for $52.(I paid $3. for it) and a bag for $89. (I paid $6. for it) after taking an offer and a designer hat (I paid $4 for it). for $89. The buyer for the $89. hat tried to return it after 13 days-my return policy it 14 days), but ebay sent me a message that I was under no obligation to accept the return, so I didn’t.
Those were the high ticket items, then there were some smaller $15-$30ish sales.
Let’s see what 2020 brings. Happy New Year, everyone!10/22/2019 at 5:24 am in reply to: eBay Not Collecting Sales Tax When It Says It Will & Partial Return Glitches #69406This is good to know, Sonia. I wondered how to find out where/when taxes were collected! So now, I have a question for those on a Mac. When I go to download a report, the report is unformatted for a Mac, and is dizzying to look at. Is anyone else on a Mac? Does anyone have input as to how to format the report for a Mac? Thanks.
Sharyn, thanks for the tip. Good to know. I’m new to imgur. And apparently, forums.
Thanks for the responses! Yes, Jay, I think you are right. It does look “60 ish” The signature is what I’m hung up on. I’ve tried various combinations to no avail. I’ll keep trying. If I come up with the right name, I’ll post here in case someone else comes across something like this.
Rookie forum poster here. Geesh. Third times the charm?
…and here is a closeup of the signature.
I guess it helps if I attach a pic, huh? 🙂
I’m melting! My MacBook Pro is at the beginning of the end. I’m seeing too many signs. So, my question is, does anyone have any tips for buying a used MacBook Pro? I know Ryanne and Jay always buy used computers, but I’m sure they know what they are doing. I am tech savvy, (air quotes), however, I am mortified of buying a box of bricks, or buying a lemon (if that is a thing within computers). I may just bite the bullet and get a new one. I think I would feel safer-and having the warranty helps. I just wanted to know from those of you who have purchased a pre-owned computer what the pros/cons or any caveats. Thanks.
Going in both directions<——–>which way is up? 🙂10/16/2019 at 8:13 am in reply to: The Most Comprehensive List of Helpful Items to Remove Marker Writing #69104Another random Sharpie tip. To remove sharpie from metal (and probably other hard surfaces), is to use hand sanitizer. I use the clear hand sanitizer to remove Sharpie markings/prices from metals, woods, and most hard surfaces. Works like magic. For me the key is to use a generous amount with a cloth or paper towel-wipe and Bob’s your uncle!
10/15/2019 at 4:00 am in reply to: The Most Comprehensive List of Helpful Items to Remove Marker Writing #69026In Spanish we say: “un clavo maneja el otro” (one screw drives the other). That being said, did you know that you can (on most surfaces) remove a Sharpie marking/price by simply going over the marking/price with another Sharpie of the same color? Yep. And have you tried a simple eraser? Takes off the Sharpie marking on most surfaces as well. Or have you tried nail polish remover? Works too to remove Sharpie markings. Only thing with nail polish remover, it depends on the surface-so beware that you don’t damage the item. On something like porcelain, it works. A simple eraser also removes China marker markings also.
