There is a toggle at the bottom of the blocked bidders screen — Don’t allow blocked bidders to contact me. Do you have this setting turned on?
If you don’t, this might be the solution to your problem. If you do, I’m stumped.
In case anyone hasn’t printed labels yet this week, the option for first class is still there — but when you print the label, it prints as ground advantage. I assume this will be phased out over the next month.
I’m thrilled at the included USPS insurance, which is perfect for those $50 to $100 items which are just below the threshold of being worth sending priority mail.
It’s been something of a surprise how much success I’ve had with these box sales. With poetry in particular, I know quite a bit about the genre so I stick with books that I think will appeal to someone who likes poetry but not enough to pay cover price, “name” poets and small presses that put out good work.
Last week, I listed a box lot of anime DVDs, something I know very little about beyond what Terapeak tells me. But I had some leftovers from a local library sale. I have 4 watchers after a week, so I suspect the box is going to sell within the next 30 days.
I have been following a similar flow chart to yours when making my box lots:
Is there a history of this thing selling? Yes/No
If yes and it’s $10 or under, I put in a box lot, then take pictures and list once the box is full.
Not sure if this is a sustainable long term strategy, but I hope to find out. I like making these listings and the buyers are often very appreciative.
Loving that butter dish…$80 seems like an absolutely crazy price for a butter dish…but apparently not at all crazy for a Denby butter dish. Great BOLO!
Great discipline on the parts-only sales, it would have been so easy (and must have been tempting) to trash and move on.
Prices for your doublenest hammock are all over the place, but there are limited edition collabs of that hammock which go for $100 and up: Grateful Dead, Supreme. Companies will really make almost anything into a limited edition for twice the price. As a scavenger, I kind of love it but it must be very frustrating for someone who really gets joy out of collecting on a limited budget.
Oh, to be a rich lady who spends $300 on pillows! Rich or poor, they are the absolute best when they leave nice, personalized feedback. If only everyone on eBay had deep pockets and kind hearts…
I have been waiting for some Roswell and UFO autographs to get posted by this seller. With all the WW2 memorabilia they list, there must be some weird autographs in their listing pipeline. The truth is out there!
I took a lot of last week off, but I want to get this autograph processed this week along with some other WW2 autographs. I have a nice pile of them now. I’ll post the link to this one for you once I’ve created the listing.
I’m not a history buff as much as I am someone who spots trends and enjoys doing the research. As you said, a lot of the sellers I buy from (mostly the big consignment sellers in the trading card world) don’t really know what they have which is kind of the name of the game when you’re doing volume consignment. So I know by now to hunt through as many auction listings as I can and I like to look for bad titles, pictures that don’t match the listing and wrong categories. I would think that the consignors would get frustrated at these inefficiencies and mistakes, but successful consignment sales far outnumber the mistakes and I think for most people, good enough is…good enough.
Whoever is selling DJ equipment for $5, I want to get to know those people. like what’s their story? Awesome finds.
My scavenger’s resolution for next new year’s has got to be start asking about stuff that isn’t out. Anytime I’ve done that in the past (usually with library book sales) they just try and sell me their junk for too much money. But I suppose like anything else it’s a numbers game.
I have been feeling an urge to check out yard sales recently (something I’ve never really done) and your posts are definitely a big reason why. Do you bring a few hundred in cash with you every time you go out?

“junk drunk” I love it soo much!!! I definitely had periods of hitting the trash sauce a little too hard…rationalizing it as a low dollar education is the best kind of education. Maybe, but it can often lead to a big old mess. I have been slashing prices left and right on slow moving inventory and it is very gratifying to see things sell. Sometimes it is also puzzling because I look at my price on an item listed two or three years ago and wonder…What was I thinking?
With your Goodyear mug selling despite lots of others online, I’ve had the same thing happen a few times as well. Especially with some of the limited edition cards I sell…there have been a few instances where another seller had the same exact card listed as I did (same player(s), features, etc) and mine was priced higher and it still sold! Maybe it’s promoted listings? Maybe I write better titles? Maybe some buyers still care about feedback and read all the comments? Not sure, and not sure we receive enough info from eBay to figure out the answer, but I’d love to find out.

Just bumping this in case anyone missed it. I got a bit grumbly when I first saw the headline, but I agree with the consensus that this change doesn’t appear to mean a whole lot of anything other than a rebrand — and the $100 of included insurance is potentially a very nice perk. Though I would still recommend ShipCover for anything above $100, they are a breeze to pay out compared to USPS.
I hope I’m wrong but I expect package delivery to be somewhat slow the week of July 10th as USPS adjusts to their new system.
That fabric is so visually striking, I’m so glad that you got full price for it. Did the buyer let you know what they were using it for? I always get curious about the types of projects which lead to people spending $100+ on eBay for 2 yards of fabric.
Thank you for the helpful info. I received the photo yesterday, and you’re correct about the filing info on the back. It certainly appears that I have a nice quality item which will sell on the high end of sold comps once it has been properly authenticated. I’ll see if I can upload a pic when I post next week’s thread.
