Boy was eBay slow for us last week. Sloooooooow. Probably our slowest week since we started selling in 2008. Very few items sold and most low dollar.

Funny, my experience is kinda opposite. This past week was average, which is slow, but expected. This current week started with two days (7/2 & 7/3) with no sales and one small sale today so far.
Love hearing about how well your coffee shop is doing.

Number of items listed this week: 42Sorry to hear about the slow week but I’m sure it’s not slow at your other businesses! Fun to hear about the growth of the coffee shop and I look forward to hearing the latest news.
This week sales started out well with a multi-item buyer from beautiful Tiburon, CA, but then really fell off into oblivion. I’ve been listing a lot and it’s paying off to some degree. My daughter is helping with photos and is a real perfectionist so they look great but she’s hopefully going to get faster as well. She wants to create an Instagram page for my best listings. We’ll see if her interest continues. Right now I have a bunch of drafts backed up that need photos. Didn’t get the garage floor cleared yet but I’m almost done doing listings for the last of side one of the garage! This week I worked a box of Scandinavian glass, yet another box of rookie coffee mugs, and finally tackled some dreaded bedding. Found 5 or 6 damaged items – sheesh.
I forgot to report last week on the College sale. It was fun but the lady who checked me out this year wanted to count up everything, instead of doing $20 for a huge bag. Still a great deal, not much for resale and mainly household stuff we can use.

I was happy with my numbers this month, even though I didn’t do many listings, as I had my store on vacation for about 10 days to recover from a bad cold/cough (I did test negative for Covid thankfully).
Monthly numbers for June: 06/1 – 06/30
Total listings: 1537
Items sold: 45
Sales: $878.66
Highest price sold: $70 Harley Davidson Leather Wallet
Average price sold: $19.52
Cost of items sold: $96.09 / average cost: 2.13 each
Spent on new inventory: $10
Number of items listed: 29
While driving to the post office, I saw a yard sale at which I ended up spending $10. Two of the items I purchased for $1 a pack ended up being My second highest sale for the month at $69.90 which were two vintage 6-packs of men’s briefs. That is something I always purchase when they are set out but I kind of find it hard to ask for at sales.
Looking forward to hearing about the side projects that you have going on J&R.

Listing 2023 weekly Avg 29Yeah it is slow, and it gives me cold chills to think of how bad it would be if I wasn’t listing frantically!
Some decent scores this weekend at yard sales. Plenty items got listed. I’m in full on ‘nose to the grindstone’ mode right now and just want to keep going full steam until my vacation in August. I’m wanting to hit my 1000 listings goal a week earlier so I need to list even more.
I can’t control sales right now but I can keep listing and sourcing high dollar items.

Active Listings 13
Active List Value $285.87They have sold 3 items in the last week. They also finally got back on track and spent some time getting their purchased items listed. They are starting to see how things are compounding. While they officially have tripled the $20 into $60 cash in hand, they have 13 more items listed worth almost $300 that are already paid for. They really get the compounding nature of reinvesting their earnings.
Also this weekend I let my daughter do some listings for me 100% on her own. The key was having something she would REALLY be interested in researching – a trash bag full of pokemon plush dolls. She did a great job, and I was able to guide her to figuring out what to list on its own vs what should be lotted up. She didn’t want any money for the work. She just wanted ‘pick of the litter’ of the plushies to add to her personal collection. Yes, I think that works for me. Lol!

It’s been about a year and a half since I posted our numbers.. I read y’alls numbers and all the posts every week though, and miss the weekly podcast greatly, but I know Jay and Ryan have been super-busy and they and the rest of you guys have been a real inspiration for our family business.
We have almost doubled our inventory since February 2022. Daughter and I started this business in 2018, she has since moved to Maryland and Son has moved home from New Jersey and has joined the business and been a huge factor in our expansion.
Thanks to eBay we were able to purchase the adjoining property of 10 acres and another old house that we are slowly renovating and plan to make it a Medium Term Rental with the exception of the months that the Round Top-Warrenton Texas Antique Shows occur twice a year in October and March. We are only 16 miles from Warrenton and there are lots of local activities that would appeal to renters. We also have a plan to market the house as a Writer’s Retreat… or something like that.
I know this is long, but thanks for reading! I thank you all for sharing!

New Listings Value $1,428.00Slow week of sales here as well, but it seems to be about average for me this time of year. Was happy to see the Christmas ornament sell to give the week a needed boost. 8 of the 9 sales sold via promoted listings which is an unusually high percentage.
Halfway through the year and I have sold about $100 more this year than last year: $15,512. I’m happy that it is at least holding steady. The good news is that I’ve posted almost twice as many listings and spent half as much money on new inventory. Looking forward to a good second half.
