That’s totally true. My favorite junky thrift does $1 a bag clothes sales pretty often so a poor person could definitely shop those sales and just throw the stuff out instead of washing it.

11/29/2018 at 10:31 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 387: Do Black Friday, Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday Matter? #52465Jay, with regard to your comment about how you wonder why nobody just buys new clothes and throws them out instead of washing them…that definitely does happen! I dumpster dive the off-campus apartments around the university near me every Sunday morning. I’m mainly looking for packing materials, but I grab anything I can sell or donate while I’m at it. I have absolutely found bags upon bags of clothes that have clearly only been worn once and then tossed. It’s always men’s clothes, and it generally seems to be a certain type of very rich foreign student who employs this method of dressing themselves lol. I surmise this from the other stuff that is tossed at the same time (often the shipping materials I’m after).
Sometimes I Ebay the stuff or bring it to Plato’s, but there is generally so much of it that a lot of the time I just drive it over to the thrift store on my way home. It’s mostly mall-brand stuff like Hollister, American Eagle, etc. I’m sure that it’s cheap enough that it makes sense to them to treat it as disposable 🙁

Those kinds of requests skeeve me out because I always thing it’s some weird pervy thing. I ignore and block. Did he buy after you sent the photoshopped pic?
That sounds like fun! I will be interested to hear how it goes for you. I don’t know if we have anything like that here…it sounds really neat.
I’m trying Poshmark, but honestly I don’t get the “sharing” aspect of it. So far, I have just listed stuff on there that I think would appeal more to the younger crowd. I’m not killing it on Poshmark by a longshot and I think the not sharing is why.
With a brand like St. John, even flaws can be OK as long as you disclose them. I knowingly bought a St. John santana knit jacket that had a fairly significant ring around the collar and I disclosed that. It still sold surprisingly well.
I haven’t seen the message, but that stinks if it’s the case. I did see something where the instant transfers were getting more expensive I think, but I don’t use that feature so I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to specifics.
10/22/2018 at 6:34 am in reply to: Ebay Restricted My Account For 30 Days and I wasted an Hour Getting It Restored #50497UGH so ridiculous Amatino. According to the Trust and Safety rep this is all automated. Now you have a warning on your account for “violating” a policy that you didn’t violate.
A computer picks up on something it thinks is violating the policy and warnings and suspensions happen. The rep called my situation a “glitch” but honestly to me it’s indicative of a website with way too many bugs.
10/21/2018 at 5:37 pm in reply to: Ebay Restricted My Account For 30 Days and I wasted an Hour Getting It Restored #50466Some were up for a while, but a bunch were listed yesterday. I’m guessing the new ones weren’t cached. I’ll try that link to retrieve the photos from the older listings at least though. For the most part, I think I’m starting from scratch on the listings, so I figure I’m going to give Etsy a try at least for this category. I really don’t feel like going through this again with Ebay in the future.
My best guess is that I listed a bunch in the “vintage panties” category yesterday and somehow that flagged all of my listings in this category as suspect. So annoying. The Ebay Trust and Safety rep said it was all automated, and he called it a “glitch” at one point. Normally when I work on listings I do a bunch of similar items at once. I don’t think I’ll be doing that in the future!

10/21/2018 at 3:49 pm in reply to: Ebay Restricted My Account For 30 Days and I wasted an Hour Getting It Restored #50463Yup, I’m definitely not relisting. The items were completely legit under the vintage panties category and he was clear that they never should have been removed but why take a chance? I also ran afoul of the “used socks” thing once completely by accident (they were the coolest pair of rainbow tube socks from the 70s…I didn’t even realize it was a pervy thing at the time lol). This was quite a long time ago though, but who knows, maybe it’s still on my account. It looks like I can list these on Etsy with no issues so I probably will. I’m going to be diversifying for sure as you never know when Ebay will decide that perfectly legit listings aren’t legit while simultaneously doing absolutely nothing to stuff like guys modeling used jock straps and thongs while listing them as “new other”.
So does liability attach to the individual seller then? Would it be up to every seller to comply with whatever the law is regarding duration of original price before a sale? I highly doubt anyone is going to sue a small-time used item reseller for putting stuff on perma-sale, but I’m curious if that’s what Ebay is thinking…that the sellers bear the liability for this, not Ebay.
Definitely burn them. I wouldn’t sell those.
10/05/2018 at 7:23 pm in reply to: Is there an Ebay glitch adding Best Offer to everything newly listed right now? #49675I’m unchecking it on the computer, making sure it’s not checked on the app and it’s still showing up on the listings. Super annoying. Once I go back in and revise it it’s gone. I have an android, not an iphone. It’s Best Offer and “decline offer under (half of BIN price)” that are checked.
Earlier in the week I had the “not enough pixels” photo bug, but thankfully that seems to be over.

10/05/2018 at 3:52 pm in reply to: Is there an Ebay glitch adding Best Offer to everything newly listed right now? #49667I wonder if the disappearance of 30 day listings is to keep people from doing “sell similar” to trick the algorithm every 30 days? This Best Offer thing is annoying. Sometimes it doesn’t even look like it’s being added but then I check my computer and see it on the listing.
