Yep definitely agree. Going out sourcing is unimaginable for me right now when we are beating our “high score” of new cases nearly daily. Yesterday we had 11,458 new cases, and it’s my understanding that the labs are backlogged by at least a week so those numbers aren’t even reflective of the current situation.
My sales are decent over here (around $800-$1000 per week) but as I’m in a massively infected state (FL) I haven’t sourced at all. I’m listing my death piles, and then I’m not sure what will happen. We are staying in the house indefinitely at this point since our state is apparently going the herd-immunity route right now. Sourcing anywhere is out of the question. Almost nobody here wears masks and you don’t know who is infected. At this point I’m afraid to even go into the post office to drop off my packages. Good times.
Also, I’m going to be homeschooling my youngest and her best friend this coming school year, so reselling will have to be on the back burner for me. Still not sure if my oldest will be able to start high school in a month or not, so she may be distance learning too. I’ll keep my Ebay store and sell what’s listed in it but at some point I won’t be able to put up any new listings until I can safely source again. I’ve tried sourcing off Mercari and while I’ve found some stuff it isn’t super cost-effective and honestly I’m not finding enough to keep myself going once my death piles are gone.

05/07/2020 at 11:32 am in reply to: Buyer registered a new account to get around my Blocked Bidder List #77192I’m on with Ebay now! Even better, the rep is definitely a native English speaker and is very helpful. He is filing an “intent to disrupt” case on this buyer. I’m being transferred to the team that does this now. My biggest concerns are the potential defect from the cancellation and the potential for receiving a negative from this buyer. For all I know, that’s why he bought something from me. He seems to love to leave negs. The Ebay rep. said that this was very likely not the first time this particular buyer has done something like this so I don’t know if he can see that that’s the case or what.

I just checked “have us call you” and there is an 11 minute wait time. I’ll let you guys know if they call me and what happens. I have a store with 1000 listings a month, so not the anchor store.
05/07/2020 at 10:22 am in reply to: Buyer registered a new account to get around my Blocked Bidder List #77185Was this via phone support or email? I wouldn’t be as worried if I had access to phone support right now. I did send an email, but no response yet. I just don’t want a defect on my account from the cancellation, and I don’t want to have to deal with this nutter making new accounts to mess with my listings. Who knew that hats could attract weirdos!

I’m hoping that I can get any dings on my account removed from cancelling the purchase he made with the second ID.
Does anyone know if Global Shipping is still an issue if opted into managed payments? Ebay has let me know that I’m being put into Managed Payments in July. I’d just switch now and get it overwith if I knew that I could still use Global Shipping. I do ship directly internationally but I like also being able to offer Global Shipping if my buyers want it.
Same here, although now I’m wondering if that was a mistake as it seems to just be a pool of potentially free money.
I’m confused about the disaster grant. It looked like you had to apply for the small business loan thing to even get considered for a grant so I didn’t do it. Is this basically just a pool of free money and we should all try for it? I was super-confused about the criteria so I skipped it and now I’m wondering if that was a mistake.
Same here about managed payments. It looks like I’m also being forced in by July. I plan to just hold out until they force me.

Sales are good here as well. I’m not actively sourcing at the moment but I could if I wanted to. We’ve had yard and estate sales here right along as most people here apparently think that the pandemic is fake news. I’m in FL and I’ve been getting notices that the thrift stores are open. You couldn’t pay me to go into one right now though. This past weekend here was an unmitigated disaster. It was way worse than spring break. I can’t imagine what’s headed our way now.
I guess that this pandemic is the one time I’ve ever been glad to have death piles lol.
My 11 year-old has made over $100 selling her old toys on Mercari in the past 2 days. I’m not sure how it is for other items, but it’s a hot market for toys from what I can see. So far she’s sold mostly Monster High and Every After High doll stuff but it seems like toys are in huge demand on there. She’s really into it…she’s using my account of course because she’s a kid, but she’s handling it all on her own from taking pictures and making the listings to sending offers and answering questions lol. This is homeschooling, scavenger-style!

Done, and I raised the price by $100 for good measure too!
OK I’m going to go for it. Normally I wouldn’t think twice, but right now there is no phone support if something happens to my account as a result. I’ve had an issue with a fraudulent INAD and I’m 3 emails in with no actual help. I guess that that’s why I was being extra careful about this lol.
That REO Speedwagon one might do really well if you can somehow reference Season 3 of Ozark. I don’t want to put in any spoilers here, but that band shows up.
Oh no for sure I’d take my grade schooler out to activities during the week if we homeschooled after there was a vaccine. Homeschooling is pretty common in our area and we have plenty of friends who are homeschoolers by choice so we’d have a good community to join if we decided to continue. We live right by the beach so we do get out there with friends right now at least, but it’s nothing like activities and going to the museum whenever you want unfortunately. Right now our homeschool activities are boogie boarding and bike riding lol.
Homeschooling at least for next year makes the most sense in my mind even if we’re stuck at home. We lost I can’t even remember how much school to Hurricane Dorian last fall, and then by March we were out for the year. I don’t really want to deal with this on-and-off stuff next year due to the virus (and possibly to storms too, although I hope not!). My youngest child has had a weird elementary school experience with near-annual storm evacuations and also having her teacher quit mid-year last year. I need to make sure that she has a decent foundation before she is done with elementary school, and homeschooling for a year might be the right thing to do. Without the pandemic I wouldn’t have considered it.
