UGH. Ebay restricted my account for 30 days and removed nearly 100 of my listings for “adult content”. These were vintage panties in the vintage panty category. They weren’t modeled, there was nothing pervy in my listings, pics, description etc. at all. The email said I had indicated they were used. Um, yeah…they’re like 50 years-old. They were used. They’re in the right category and I’m complying with all rules for vintage undergarments. I was furious. The first 2 reps were useless, but finally they transferred me to a guy in Trust and Safety who saw that this was a completely invalid suspension and lifted it immediately.
He urged me to relist the items, but they are no longer on the site so I would have to rebuild all of the auctions from scratch. I didn’t save the pics anywhere as I take them on my phone and delete to save space. He said it was simply the computer that removed them, it was not at all legit, and it shouldn’t ever have happened. He also said he’s sending a detailed report to the “back office group” so they can make it so this never happens to my account again. I guess he felt bad because he gave me 6000 free listings for this month and next month…which is really nice and everything, but I rarely list more than 1000. I’d rather have had my listings restored so I don’t have to spend days on end redoing 100 listings.
My gut says that Ebay is having way too many glitches lately, and that some diversification wouldn’t hurt. I may try to relist these items on Etsy instead to diversify.

Yes, I had to deal with this issue before in the past with some used socks. I was never suspended but was advised not to relist. In my opinion, even if the underwear is vintage, and even if the rep gave you the green light to relist, I would not relist at all. Reps don’t know any better and the listings, if they are relisted, will be pulled once again and you may face permanent suspension. In my opinion, it is not worth the trouble and I would move on to other items.

Yup, I’m definitely not relisting. The items were completely legit under the vintage panties category and he was clear that they never should have been removed but why take a chance? I also ran afoul of the “used socks” thing once completely by accident (they were the coolest pair of rainbow tube socks from the 70s…I didn’t even realize it was a pervy thing at the time lol). This was quite a long time ago though, but who knows, maybe it’s still on my account. It looks like I can list these on Etsy with no issues so I probably will. I’m going to be diversifying for sure as you never know when Ebay will decide that perfectly legit listings aren’t legit while simultaneously doing absolutely nothing to stuff like guys modeling used jock straps and thongs while listing them as “new other”.

If the items were listed for a little while on eBay, then Google probably cached them.

Its not ideal, but this is how we recovered photos that disappeared on eBay listings in the last glitch. -

Some were up for a while, but a bunch were listed yesterday. I’m guessing the new ones weren’t cached. I’ll try that link to retrieve the photos from the older listings at least though. For the most part, I think I’m starting from scratch on the listings, so I figure I’m going to give Etsy a try at least for this category. I really don’t feel like going through this again with Ebay in the future.
My best guess is that I listed a bunch in the “vintage panties” category yesterday and somehow that flagged all of my listings in this category as suspect. So annoying. The Ebay Trust and Safety rep said it was all automated, and he called it a “glitch” at one point. Normally when I work on listings I do a bunch of similar items at once. I don’t think I’ll be doing that in the future!

I empathise!
eBay’s doing all sorts of odd things. I got a warning because I was listing used underwear – on shorts. The reason was the brand name: Joe Boxer. eBay saw them as used boxer shorts. I changed the brand to Joe B. and had no problems. I also got a warning for keyword spamming for using “black, not blue” in the title, the condition, and the description. The item was black, not blue, but looked blue in the photos, it was that kind of black. It sold, so I didn’t bother with doing anything about it. However, I’m now careful about my wording.
It’s getting harder and harder to keep track of all the hoops!

UGH so ridiculous Amatino. According to the Trust and Safety rep this is all automated. Now you have a warning on your account for “violating” a policy that you didn’t violate.
A computer picks up on something it thinks is violating the policy and warnings and suspensions happen. The rep called my situation a “glitch” but honestly to me it’s indicative of a website with way too many bugs.

RIDICULOUS. I am so happy you got it resolved. I purchased some street-style mens 1990s boxer shorts that were very nice and ebay yanked them. I didn’t think to call. Moved them to Poshmark, and they sold without issue.
