Hey Jay, Ryanne: Gildaddy is back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb-xWAeYX1Q
Speaking of threats to the scavenger way of life, I don’t see how the USPS can continue to function. They’ve maxed out their borrowing and have racked up 10’s of billions of $ of debt. I think the USPS does a great job, but at some point this model is going to have to change drastically.

Maybe this is old news, but this is the first confirmation I have seen that Goodwill is now selling their own merchandise online. Of course, they are selling the good stuff.

They also asked what options would make me want to use the system, like, #1: provide shorter delivery times (2-day as opposed to 3-day), #2 Ebay handled returns, #3 Ebay picking. They also asked which option would make me more inclined to use the service; pricing/fee options, $ Ebay-fulfillment > $ FBA, $ Ebay-fulfillment = $ FBA or $ Ebay-fulfillment < $ FBA. That might seem like an odd thing to ask, but sellers will compare this service (if it exists) to FBA.
Hello all: I am part of an Ebay program called “Ebay Expressions” where eBay occasionally has me fill out an online poll. Today, I responded to one of these polls where they asked me several questions concerning eBay possibly creating a service like Amazon’s FBA. Not a lot of details, but they asked me whether I’d be interested in having my inventory spread out across the U.S. for quicker delivery to buyers. It would also have eBay pulling the items from inventory and handling returns. I don’t know how serious this is and maybe they are just gathering info on how much interest there would be. If I used this service I would have to change my business model, which might be interesting. Ebay would be hitting me for more fees of course and I’d have to increase my inventory volume.
Hello all: If you haven’t heard the USPS is modifying their dimensional weight shipping rules in June. https://www.mytotalretail.com/post/postal-shippers-beware-usps-implements-new-dimensional-pricing-in-june/
May 24, is this year’s “eBay Advocacy Day” in Washing ton DC. https://www.ecommercebytes.com/2019/05/19/ebay-and-etsy-sellers-advocate-on-postal-issues-sales-tax-and-more/
I went to an estate sale about a year ago. Some stuff was tagged. Some rooms or tables had a sign stating, “Anything for $5” or something similar. I took an item to the check out table and asked the lady of she’d accept $3 for some item I picked up for $5. She was pretty snarky and stated, “I CAN’T MAKE ANY DEALS!”. She said something about she wasn’t the house owner and she didn’t own the estate selling company, she was just the cashier.
Ryanne: Just to clarify one point for new people. In this week’s podcast you mentioned the site for a reminder of when the eBay shipping supplies coupon is available as http://wheresthecoupon.com. However, the site actually is http://wheresthecoupon.wordpress.com. It used to be the site you mentioned, but the site owner changed it to the new url as it was cheaper.
I know you just rattled it off in passing. I only mention if in case someone wants to have the coupon reminder sent to their email address.
Have a good day.
BrianJ&R: Glad you are okay. You had me worried. I sound like my mother.
Ryanne: You own 3 houses!
Is eBay’s website acting goofy for anyone else?
I went ahead and got my “Scavenger Life” podcast fix for the week by re-listening to the previous week’s podcast again. Ah…
I assume some of you trash elves watched this guy’s videos on You Tube. I have been watching quite a few of them over the past couple of months. His story showed up on MSN today. You might know him as Curiosity Incorporated. Anyway, it is interesting to see what he and his family are doing with a hoarder’s house that he bought.
