Stupid squirrel chewed through some lines on the telephone pole next to our house. Killed the squirrel and our Internet connection last Saturday. I thought it fried our modem so I bought a new one, but that didn’t fix the problem. Called the media company a couple times and finally we figured out that they have to come out and fix something on the pole. They’re supposed to come out on Thursday. I did go buy a hot spot so we had some form of connection (other than cell) over the 4th of July weekend. I did sell some stuff. Had to go to the library to print labels because we couldn’t connect to the wireless printer and I wasn’t going to fight with it since hopefully everything will be back up and running on Thursday. My wife was home on vacation from her job so she wasn’t too happy either. Have a good day.

Here is the link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/391389310265 I think I originally did a sell-similar on someone else’s listing. I guess they had the Warranty attribute selected.
06/14/2017 at 12:38 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 314: Selling on eBay while in the Military #19400I thought I would pass along this (possible) tip. I received one of those emails/messages from eBay this week stating that some of my items need to be updated. I clicked on the link to review the items. One of them had eBay verbiage in red stating that there was a problem with the Warranty attribute on one of mu items. It stated that “No” was not a valid Warranty type. In the interface that was provided “No” was an option, but maybe that was just because that was what I had specified. I selected the “No warranty” option and submitted the change. The item sold the next day. It had been listed for many months, maybe a year.
It could be a coincidence or maybe eBay had previously considered this an invalid item until the attribute was fixed and after I fixed it they may have pushed the item up in the search rankings. Whatever happened the item sold quickly after I fixed the attribute.
The tip is to not ignore eBay’s suggestions for fixing listing defects.
Supposedly, eBay is going to do a better job of helping eBay sellers combat fraudulent buyers in the Fall update.

Earlier this week commenter MyCottage posted a comment stating that he/she read something from a “Seller’s Board” indicating that eBay would end listings that haven’t sold in 2 years. I called eBay today and asked them if this was true. After the support person investigated a bit she responded by saying that eBay does not have a policy of ending listings based on the amount of time the item has been listed. They will terminate a listing based on other criteria we’ve discussed before like VeRO (intellectual property violation), the same of items that are not permitted (example: firearms), etc.
You can list your long tail items to your heart’s content.

I can’t find anything on this topic. I’m calling eBay later today, but I am very skeptical that this is legitimate. However, I am open to what others might have located.

Thanks for the compliments. I have a good position with my “day job” so for the most part I’ve just been saving the eBay money. Maybe it will be a reserve fund or an early retirement fund. We’ll see.
I’d like to point out that I was an occasional seller prior to “Ebay Scavengers / Scavenger Life”. I think there were a few podcasts available when I found this podcast. I have implemented so many of the topics you’ve mentioned on the podcast. It’s been great.
I’ll put a few $ into the Tip Jar today.

Today was a pretty good day. I realize many of you blew past me long ago, but today I crossed the $100,000 mark for lifetime eBay sales. I am a part-time eBay seller. I also recently crossed 1500 feedbacks.
From my Seller Dashboard on eBay’s site:
Your totals to date
Transactions: 1919
Sales: $100,740.9805/15/2017 at 11:05 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 310: Am I Selling on eBay the Wrong Way? #18015Jay, Ryanne: You are certainly permitted to have your opinion of the term, “side hustle”, but normally, when I hear this term used I am impressed that someone is going the extra mile to perform some task to earn additional money, learn a new skill or test a hypothesis to determine the lucrativeness of the hustle.
After listening to the first half of this week’s blog I was reading an article about a young guy who graduated from college, got a job and was blowing through his income. One day he decided he was going to try to have a net worth of $1 million by the time he was 30. A very tall order. He started a side hustle working, saving and investing (primarily index funds) diligently. Today, he’s worth about $1.3 million.

In terms of. “How do you do it” in reference to raising a family, my wife and I have 1 child a daughter. My wife and I work full time and I have this side job with eBay. My sister and her husband have 5 boys. I have no idea how people with multiple kids function. My daughter has something going on every night, sports, band, other school events. My sister doesn’t sell on eBay, but now that 1 son is in college and the others are not babies she did take on a full time job. It is amazing.
Hello: I thought I would post this feel good article about an item purchased at Goodwill. Link.
Mark S: What a nice find. I would love to find something like that makeup lot you bought. Post some comments later stating how the sales on those items go.
