@Sharyn The V2! Brilliant! Yes, congrats to the V2. You’re both listing hellions! Look at you, both in the 1000s! Although, VL, you are DEFINITELY getting a visit so that I can snoop out your secret fires and steal some of that coal for my teeny little steam engine!
Due to VT’s amazing prodding with her super-sharp pitchfork, I managed to double my listing numbers this week. Yup, 20 listings for me! I’m strutting around feeling so proud… and then VL casually tosses in 84 listings. Sigh… Well, still, I doubled my numbers. Go me! If I can do that again, I’ll be right up there in your wheelhouse! 😀
Great week, ladies, and the start of a brand new season. Unless you’re in Texas, where you still have another 45 days to wait. It was 90’F at 8:30PM last Tuesday evening after dance class.
Happy Labor Day, y’all!
Well done, VT. How awesome you sold so much! \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ You’ve upped your listings, upped your sales, and when your Death Piles are gone, you can start actively search for higher priced items going forward. It’s a 4-way win: listings, sales, no DPs, and higher priced stock.
And yes, my child regularly tells me that I’m annoyingly cheerful!
This Challenge has certainly been a mind-muncher, hasn’t it? I’ve discovered so many aspects that I have to think through and reconsider. It has been mind-bendingly stretching, both mentally and physically. I’ve been seriously, consideringly, and practically working through my actual listing system. What an eye opener this has been. And all from one little video!
To my delight, I managed 3 sprints this week, although Monday was like a learner driver with a stick shift due to Murphy’s Law. I also managed my week’s listing challenge. I didn’t manage to clear under my desk, though, but I did end up clearing the top shelf in my kitchen!
Every now and th… er… once or twice a yea… um… far less often than I should, I climb up on top of my kitchen counters and clean all the cabinets and shelves up high. This time, when I took down all the Le Creuset cookware, I discovered that the weight of it all was actually pulling the shelf out of the wall! The hubs was very annoyed when I told him and said I should just sell it all.
“No,” I said.
“Why not?”
“It’s Le Creuset!”
“So? You never cook with it. It just takes up space and now it’s damaging the shelves!”
“yes, but it’s pretty!”
“Well, you can’t put it back on the shelves.”
“Ok, I’ll move the lighter bakeware up to the top and make space in the cupboard down here for it to be put away.”
“So you can’t see it. You don’t cook with it and now you won’t see it. Why are you keeping it?”
Uhhhhh ….So it all got listed. One of my listing sprints! 😀
I’m not going to Sprint tomorrow. It’s Labor day and I ended up working yesterday and today on listings and sorting out my eBay space to install my lightbox and the new Dymo Labelwriter 4XL I was given. I need to have 4 galabeyas sewn up for Tuesday evening, so I’m going to try to whip them up tomorrow instead of having sewn this weekend, as I usually do. So I will sprint Wednesday and Friday, if that’s okay.

I kid you not. By laying the suede over the edge of my backing material and then hooking a coat hanger over the top (with the body of the hanger behind it) I found it worked perfectly. I’ve also used clothes pins, tacks, painter’s tape, and clamps filched from my husband’s tool box. LOL
To each his own, Mike. There’s no wrong answer!
08/30/2019 at 4:04 pm in reply to: Am I the only one who still takes an enormous amount of time to edit photos? #67154@sonia I feel your pain irt the colors not being right. I’ve managed to get 3 different colors on one item in the same photo shoot, one shot after another! I looked at my screen in total disbelief!
I got a ding from eBay once for keyword spamming when I put “Black, NOT Blue” in my title, condition, and description, because I just gave up trying.
Oddly enough, some of the best results I get is when I put stuff in front of my (slightly yellow) wall, then use the White Balance color corrector on MS Picture Manager. Almost perfect, every time, with one click. I’ve learned that being slightly further away from my subject gives slightly better color, then I crop down. Adds to the editing time as I have to crop in, though. And bright sun is a total washout for me. My stuff is almost unusable.
@gregsandiego One hour on a photo? No way! I grumble if I have to spend an hour on a total batch of photos! LOL. I put my SD card into a reader, slide that into a USB port and Dropbox auto pulls all photos off it, then opens the Upload folder. I open the first photo in the batch and either use the Color Corrector or the Crop function (whichever takes my fancy first) and work my way through the entire batch correcting that one function. Then I return using the other function. Once I get back to the start, I change to Contrast/Brightening and work my way forward again. Usually one or 2 hits of contrast and possibly a mid-tone bright and I’m done. Choose the best 12 of each bunch and upload. Probably a dozen photos edited in an hour. If the background is black, I’m a lot faster. For some reason, my photos on a dark background always come out better.
@sonia and @mikemdc I use faux suede or faux leather. Got it from the thrift store. Cleans up with a lint roller, never creases, never gives me any trouble. I have an awesome navy/midnight blue that I use for dark backgrounds and it comes up blue some days, black on others, but it always looks terrific. Still haven’t found a white/pale, but I will! Works even better than felt.At just over 2 hours, this is fantastic for a listing sprint. And it’s perfect background, I’m concentrating music. Loved it!

No expensive software or hard-to-learn programs. I tried some of the others, but the learning curve eventually annoyed me and I went back to my TNT. They work. Ain’t broke, right?
Only problem is you have to hack the suckers to load them, nowadays. I did post a hack for Picture Manager, search for it on the Forum.

Although, I was going to call it Petroleum Jelly! LOL
We should totally start a Music thread! LOL
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it, but not to repeat listen. I have an extremely eclectic taste though, so perhaps I will enjoy part 2 or 3, when I get to them.
In the interim, however, I see your Dream Pop and raise you this:
Maybe Julie K Anderson? https://www.julieandersonceramics.com/functional/

Ah, VL, you’re a great aunt and I’m sure the time you spent with your nephew will live on in his mind way longer than a week watching you list stuff would have.
Spreadsheet updated. VT takes the win this week – well done!
@IndySales I’d be interested in hearing about your software, when you have it ready. For the sake of your research & development, just to let you know that none of the items that reappeared in my Active listings were multi-item listings originally. All of them were one-offs, although a couple were Sell Similar.
Cool plan! Thanks for sharing
@Sharyn Yup, it was me that posted this because I found a batch of items. Mine were sold in the previous year and then relisted this year!
@jumbleandclutter My saving grace (in more ways than one) has been Easy Auction Tracker. It’s an Excel spreadsheet program that pulls all your sales for the year and does all your financials. I just open the spreadsheet, type in the keywords of the item I’m searching for, and it finds them for me. The only stuff it doesn’t find is Bonanza sales, but I don’t have a lot of those, so it doesn’t matter. Can’t recommend this program enough – it does my financials AND helps me find sold items that eBay glitches back to Active. eBay’s response to me was to “just do a stocktake.” -
