05/27/2018 at 4:38 pm in reply to: I want to ask eBay if free returns are so great why is Amazon closing accounts #41055
joeMezz,
I have not seen anything recent about ebay doing a sweep. As for Amazon with their sweep, from what I am reading, they are reinstating on a case by case basis so that weakens the ominous cloud of permanent closure. I have read some of the stories about returns and from what I can decipher, because Amazon had very relaxed return rules (how many times a buyer could return items in a certain period of time and for what reason),some buyers retured items as they wished without concern as to the Amazon response.
The question to ebay really needs to be: Now that you are forcing free returns, what you will you be doing to protect sellers from increased returns from buyers “finding the right reason to return” or returning simply because they can?
This is great. This is the kind of data that is needed.
Here is the thing. Ebay is swinging the door wide open on returns (which is most likely going to increase returns for sellers) and yet is going to punish sellers for having too many returns. Please make sure to visit and read the Summer Seller Update under the section Selling Metrics and Shipping. https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2018-summer/selling-metrics-and-shipping.html
The only metric ebay left off for returns was : Because (as a buyer), I can!
Frostys,
It is my understanding that pictures are not needed for ebay to side with the buyer and that the seller must respond by the given timeline. I think that if the seller does not, ebay can step in.

Luftmentsh,
I was thinking about how gears are also on motocyles and cars, so I typed in -motorcycle company logos with gears and rocket- and found a couple of company logos with gears in the pictures but not yours. It might be something to explore further.
This is not my area of knowledge. What are those black circular things called? I thought it might be good to use the wording in a key word search.
So Cal Joe,
I was doing some research and came across this page.
I thought it might be of benefit to you in answering your question.

I am almost positive that if they return it will be at the same shipping rate it was sent to them with.
I would interested to hear other sellers responses.I did not know that. So, they were approved by ebay. It kinda puts a different spin on what they have to say when they are corporate approved.
Yes, but an official voice with a marketing spin put on it will yield you what they want you to hear and know and in the light they want it to have.
If that is not sanctioned by ebay, it will only be up until they find out and send a legal take down notice.
It is called ebay radio. The ebay name is trademarked and you will see right at the top of ebay radio website that it says Voice Marketing Inc which most likely means they serve as a marketing rep for ebay. In addition, if you listen to the hosts lingo (which has a very strong positive ebay narrative), it is apparent that they speak as reps of ebay. A marketing firm (or anyone for that matter) is not allowed to use a trademarked name or serve to represent a trademarked company without explicit written permission, so if they were not official marketing reps, I am sure they would have been shut down by now.

I am sorry to hear that is your perspective of what occurs in here. I have been in the forum for awhile and have a different perspective.Forums in general draw a need for some participants to have inclusion and validation and to feel a part of the group effort. Group thought tends to occur when people coexist in a group environment.
It seems that in your posts you are upset and frustrated and wanting to be heard and agreed with because what you are going through is frustrating and maybe even a little overwhelming. I think we all feel that way sometimes and we all want to be heard.
All of us in here are doing the best we can at each moment in time based on where we are in our lives and in our practice as sellers.

I am hesitant to get involved in this dialogue, so I will keep my remarks brief. I want share that if you go back and look you will find plenty of times when there was a difference of opinion between J and/or R and the rest of us and it was (and is still) openly stated. You will also find that there are like minded sellers in here (SL) who openly express their agreement with each other while also expressing when they do not agree with each other completely. In addition, you will find other sellers who (just as yourself) are passionate about what they do, knowledgeable, persistent, highly focused, and yes even opinionated (as many of us are). Really, in order to sell online and/or run a business, one must have those qualities or at least some mix of them. Sometimes that can lead to a challenging dialogue even in a DF. So the question comes – how can each one be right even if others disagree? It’s by choice. If you know you are right and you present facts showing it but others do not believe you, that is on them and not on you. So,share your thoughts, express your opinions, and try to keep an open perspective in the DF experience realizing each one of us has to have our own experience based on who we are as people and as sellers.I would also like to offer that even if someone agrees with you, they may not say anything because not everyone who listens to the podcast or reads the threads chooses to engage by posting or responding to posts. J&R have set up this forum as a “come as you choose” place. So, if you want to listen to the podcast – then listen. If you do not, then don’t. If you wish to read the forum threads, that’s ok too. If you choose not to, well, that’s ok too. If you choose to post about something and share your perspective (even if it’s different), well great be part of the conversation. If you just want to read the threads, that ok too.
On another note, sometimes when people are heavily invested in something, sharing in public that they have concerns or that what they have invested in may not be turning out the way they wanted is not something that is easily done.I would also like to share that there are a lot of men sellers who participate in SL. Men tend to be more factual, concrete based, and solution oriented and not ones to pour out their feelings especially in public. If there is a problem with something they have invested in (especially a business venture) many men do not openly discuss the situation until they have been able to process it and figure out a plan of action that allows them to move forward. Some men find it really difficult to engage in other thought thinking if they are not ready to address a matter. Women on the other hand are socialized to be more communicative about what is occurring, to talk through (share) everything (even the smallest details), and to problem solve together.

05/23/2018 at 12:02 am in reply to: ebay User Agreement update has been released – Listing Visibility #40764With all due respect MyCottage,
What was meant to be a point of reference has turned into a multi post thread which is not what this was meant for.
If sellers wish to read through the reference, so be it. If not, that is ok too and their choice.
As far as I am concerned this conversation as to how I referenced something is at its end. If we spend time picking each other part as forum community members instead of respecting individual difference and making individual choices as to how we wish to engage and take in information provided, then we waste alot of time.
If you wish to discuss the content referenced and there are others who wish to discuss it with you, please go right ahead.
Time is precious and the next sale is waiting to happen! So, off to listing.
05/22/2018 at 11:38 pm in reply to: ebay User Agreement update has been released – Listing Visibility #40761I have seen how heated and elonged discussions can get in here about written policy. It is not unrealistic to offer the idea that seller’s be familiar with what is in their messages and update section in the Seller’s Hub. I think it best that sellers make themselves aware of what ebay has put out so there is no confusion or elongated highly opinionated conversation that can lead to misinformation and some negative exchanges.
