Sonia,
Everyone has it in their messages. Messages in an account that are linked in the forum require someone to sign into their account to read teh link/message so it is the same difference. The best thing for sellers to do would be to read their messages. It is an important part of understanding what is going on with ebay and what is going on inside of their account.
Message – User Agreement
section Listing Conditions.05/22/2018 at 10:56 pm in reply to: ebay User Agreement update has been released – Listing Visibility #40749Ha ha Jay.
Here is to each their own.
Respect for individuality is excellenet for all to engage in. Please see multiple websites on the internet about individual difference in how people understand, organize, evaluate, interpret, and apply information. I am sure there are also multiple websites on individual differences in how people post information!
Jay, as I am sure you have noticed, posting of edited versions of what ebay is doing has often led to very long and heated conversations on this forum and often times misinformation.
Jay,
LOL!

I do, many times. With all of the changes and the need for the most current ebay info directly from ebay, I think it is important that selllers read the messages sent to them and waiting for them in the Seller’s Hub. Some of the answers sought via discussions here in SL have actually been available in the Seller’s Hub in the Message section or the Update section. Sometimes reading an actual document directly from the entity from which answers are sought elliviates fears, questions etc.
Our discussions are very comprehensive and informed, but there is much opinion included and people are having to make life decisions right now with the direction ebay is going making it important to reference the ebay documents.

Sometimes people do not read all of the sections of the ebay documents, so being that listing visiabiility has been a hot topic in the forums, I thought was nimportant to reference what ebay has provided so sellers can read for themselves as to why their listings may not be showing up -outside of technical difficulties with the platform.

In certain instances it is important for sellers to read exactly what ebay has provided whether it be a particular section and/or the one’s before and after it. ebay is handing down policy and sending it directly to sellers, so I think it is important that sellers read the section instead of me posting what I think is important in the section. While discussions are important part of what we do here, sellers hearing directly from ebay (via their messaging) is even more important because that is what they will have to go by.
Jay,
These changes take approval out of the seller’s hands if the buyer is going to pay for return shipping. There is no need for discussion or ebay intervening at the point because ebay is laying down that it will happen and that if the seller does not accept/approve the return within 2 days, ebay will automatically give the buyer back their money. They are not focused on sellers here but instead the ebay platform and corporation. They say they are doing things based on market place standards. Let’s see what happens now that the top leader in ecommerce (Amazon) is closing accounts of those who have too many returns.Jay,
They are taking return labels out of our hands if the return request is Buyer Paid:remorse and giving an immediate label instead of the buyer having to wait. They are also doing an immediate label (instead of having a 3 day turn around) if it is Seller Paid: (free returns)
Look at the chart under Simplified Returns
They are taking over and sending an immediate return label (right side of the box) when a return is requested.
The second change is that a refund will be automatically given if the seller does not provide it after 2 days. – Look toward the bottom where it says Automatic Refund.
I love their marketing terminology
Seller Health Specialist
Seller Health team.
Marketing is really one of ebay’s strengths whether to sellers or buyers.
MyCottage,
What ebay says and does has been shown to be two different things. When is the last time you read that they did an across the board account shutdown of people with too many returns?
When is the last time they took notice of people opening another account after being shut out and did something about it on a long term basis?Jay,
Can you please fix this title? I was typing too fast. It should readAmazon bans customers with too many returns.
Thank you.
I would like to offer that it is REALLY important that each seller read the Summer 2018 update (which should be in your ebay messages)thoroughly and carefully. There is some really important information in there as to where things are headed and as to how that is going to effect you as a seller.
I would also like to offer that if you are rushing through listings, not taking into account and noting all details( especially any defects), and taking few pictures and/ or ones that do not fully reflect the condition of the item, the possibility for return increases.
According to the update, those with too many returns will have it counted against them with possible longer shipping times and possibly even more fees.-

05/22/2018 at 6:32 am in reply to: New Catalog Based Search & Ebay's Re-Structured Business Model Plans #40604With all due respect, I want to offer that it feels like this thread has become about being heard and who is right. With each unique experience and perspective comes a truth which may not agree with another’s experience and/or perspective or truth. What if we swithced the focus to what we know and what can be done by sellers to try to make change?
Let’s shift the focus.
What do we know?
The two new store levels are at the top and bottom tier with nothing in the middle. There are many sellers in the middle but ebay is not finding it cost beneficial to find a middle store level (over 1000 listings but under 10,000 listings) whether it be because they earn more by the insertion fees or because they know they are transitioning the platform to larger sellers.
The level after having 50 free listings at no cost is now a Starter Store.
Starter Store- 4.95 a month for 100 listings – This appears to be really just to bring people on board with having a store as well as bringing in some money for ebay. I imagine sellers having stores is better for the platform overall than just individual sellers selling items.
The other new level is the top tier -Enterprise Store Subscription
“The Enterprise Store subscription will provide high-volume sellers with an upgrade option and additional benefits”. $2,999.95 a month for 100,000 fixed priced listings. This is BIG BUSINESS. The monthly store fee is separate from all other fees collected by ebay including FVF. This is where the retailers can be brought in at. Retailers provide new items. 80% of sales on ebay are on new items. Big retailers are most likely going to be on board with free shipping and free returns which helps the ebay platform immensely and cuts down on their work load because there will probably be fewer calls and follow through. Big business on ebay puts ebay at a higher level of competition when competing with Amazon.
Vintage sellers can still sell but if the platform is coded to bring up listings that meet certain criteria – new, multiple, free shipping, free returns – that is what will come up. Ebay will still be charging people to sell on their platform while not providing with an level platform to sell on.
So, the question comes – What can be done.
1. Top Rated Sellers and those with top level stores such as Anchor stores need to watch their sales and research their own stores. If they are not finding their listings, they need to call ebay because right now they still have a collective powerful voice. If no one says anything, ebay will proceed forward and sellers will be left scrambling as to what to do when they find they are no longer able to bring in monies from ebay sales.
2. Diversify – to which platform and when?
3. Contact ebay social media reps on Facebook.
4. What else?-

Amatino,
These links are very helpful. I am glad you shared them. Thanks.
Jay,
I put this post on another thread, but this may be a better place. I was wondering if you or Ryanne had had the opportunity to call ebay back and address your case as a Guaranteed Delivery case and not an INAD case eventhough the buyer marked it as much. With it being a Guaranteed Delivery case, you and Ryanne should get your money back. -
