We stayed in Jamaica Plain for a week three or four years back. It was late August or early September, and I can remember people having stoop sales, yard sales, and a few just hanging clothing/etc along sidewalk fences for sale.
I wasn’t big into re-selling then, so I can’t really speak to quality/pricing, but there were definitely some sales.
I love Bawstan. One of my very favorite cities…

Glad to hear both that I’m not alone, and that it’s still there for some.
No auto-decline, or previous offers on this item for what it’s worth.
I’ve tried both, and it’s not showing on either.
I’ve even gone and looked at a few other messages, to make sure it’s not just this one item/buyer/message. Same result (or lack thereof).

One of my favorites was a sticker for $525.
My wife bought a box lot of random ephemera (newspapers, pamphlets, maps, etc) at an antique auction for $5. When we went through the box, there was an unused 1951 National Park Pass sticker (you’d stick it on your car window to show that you had paid). It was cool, so I researched it a bit. Found similar ones that had sold around $500, so I listed mine for $725obo.
After some back and forth, settled on an offer of $525. For a sticker. Albeit a cool, old, collectible sticker, but a sticker nonetheless.
I’ve sometimes had success by going over the existing marker bit by bit with a Sharpie, and wiping off while it’s still wet. The fresh marker seems to moisten the existing marks just enough to make them removable. You’ve got to do small areas at a time though.
Works on some soles, and not so well on others. When all else fails, as Jay suggested, black it out as cleanly as possible.
I’ll take a shot. Looks to me like an old tire patching stitcher. By the look of it, if that’s what it is, I’m guessing it’s something someone made from scrap they had.

I recently had a buyer send a message that said “$10 free shipping. You ok bro?” on a hat that I had listed for $32.99. I didn’t respond.
A week later, he sent pretty much the same message “$10 free shipping. You ok bro?”
Another week passes, and “$12 free shipping. You ok bro?”
To this point, I hadn’t responded or blocked, just ignored. After the third message, I knew even if I sold him the hat, he’d likely become an issue, so I blocked him.
I think it was the “you ok bro” in his messages that made me cringe most of all.
03/15/2017 at 6:01 pm in reply to: Anyone ever have problems listing risqué items (old biker magazines related) #14587With mine, they took the listings down, and sent me a message saying I could re-list under adults only. No suspension, no impact to anything else.
As mentioned by almasty, I’d just list them and not post any pictures containing nudity. I can’t imagine you’d have any issues, so long as you keep your listings clean.
03/15/2017 at 4:08 pm in reply to: Anyone ever have problems listing risqué items (old biker magazines related) #14575Yeah, I had originally had my PB’s listed as magazine back issues, and ebay took them all down, and made me move them to adults only. I suspect it’s like speeding, sometimes, you get away with it, sometimes, you get caught and have to take your lumps.
03/15/2017 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Anyone ever have problems listing risqué items (old biker magazines related) #14571I’ve sold a bunch of Playboy back issues (90’s & 2000’s), and a few decks of nude model playing cards with no issues. The Playboys all had to be listed under the “adults only” category, and moved relatively slowly, I’m guessing due to reduced views, and lack of demand since they were newer. With the Playboys, I didn’t post any pictures with nudity. Just front and back covers, plus a shot of the table of contents or something similar to add a third photo.
I’d go for it, and have no concerns.
One thing I will suggest, in most of the older Easy Rider and Iron Horse magazines, there was artwork by David Mann (generally centerfold or nearby). He was hugely popular in the chopper/bobber/Harley circles, and pretty collectible. It may be worth your time to look up those alone, as lots of guys like to plaster their shop walls with them, or frame them.
If nothing else, I’d make sure to put his name in your titles where applicable.

Funny you mention a Seattle Starbucks mug, cebanak. That was my highest mug sale ever. I sold one back in October for $200 on best offer (had it listed at $299). Sold it to a lawyer in Los Angeles.
It’s insane that someone will pay that much for something so seemingly cheap, but again, I’ll never question their motives, so long as they pay…
I’ll play, mostly because I was curious, and love the fact that someone is taking a calculated approach to things.
Mine is mostly flat, but there’s probably a slight dip in mid-late January. Listing volumes were relatively consistent over the period. One or two listings a day on average, give or take one or two here and there.
I’ve sold three or four between $75-$200. Maybe five total in that range. All were Starbucks. Crazy that someone will pay $200 for a coffee mug, but if I can buy for $2 and sell for $200, who am I to question their collection…
I pick up interesting ones, vintage ones, and Starbucks ones (when the stores haven’t priced them more than a dollar or two).
I never pay much for them, and likely have 30-50 listed currently. I probably sell one a week on average, most going in the $13-25 range.

Thought I would weigh in on your Canada conversation. I was selling using only Canada Post for the first little while, and their rates are substantially higher than USPS, their delivery times are slower, and their cheapest shipping options offer no tracking. I suspect this is largely due to the size of our country, and the lower population density. More empty miles, etc…
About a year ago, I found a cross-border shipper that gives me access to using USPS/UPS/FedEx and shipping my packages from a US address. It seems these have popped up in many major centers across the country that are within a few hours of a border crossing (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, etc). My buyers see my shipping address as being in the US, though my user ID shows I’m located in Canada.
Where I’m located, my shipper crosses the border three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), and drops off my packages. It costs anywhere from $1-$8 (CDN) for them to take my packages across, depending on weight.
Obvious benefits are faster shipping (even with a one-day delay to get my packages into the US), full tracking, and lower/more competitive shipping prices.
Drawbacks are having no option for having packages picked up from my home, a one day delay minimum from the time I package an item, until it is scanned into tracking, and a painful return process. The costs/hassles in bringing a returned item back into Canada often makes me issue a full refund and tell the buyer to donate/keep the item.
I am considering taking my own packages across the border in a few years time when I hope to go full-time, and plan to move closer to the border to make the process easier/faster, but would love to hear from anyone that is currently taking their own packages across. As I understand, it’s not a painful process, but there is some minor paperwork involved.
