Punk, you’ve got the process down. You accept, and then you have to wait for them to pay. Once they do, pack/print/ship just like any other sale.
One of the downsides to accepting an offer is that sometime the buyer doesn’t end up paying at all. It’s a pain, but part of the game unfortunately.
If you’re good with $40, accept, and wait for payment.
I always assume that if I counter, the likelihood is that the negotiation will end there, and result in no sale. If an offer is reasonable (sounds like this one is), take it! Trying to eek an extra $5 out of them may make them go away entirely.
I’ve got two stores, and am in pretty good shape for supplies at the moment, so both of my coupons will likely sit unused for a month or two. I use a LOT of their 6x4x4 boxes, and quite a few of their padded mailers. That’s likely what I’ll be ordering more of when the time comes, unless I have a run on items that deplete my supplies of either my 10x8x6 or 8x6x4 boxes in the meantime.
Looks like alabaster to me.

I listen to a LOT of podcasts while slogging at my day job. Probably 4+ hrs worth a day.
Planet Money
S Town
Criminal
99% invisible
Freakonomics
Scavenger life
Shampoo & booze
The Minimalists
Generation Why
This American Life
Someone Knows Something
The Daily
SerialI could go on…
When it’s not a podcast, it’s either the radio, or something punk.
Probably not ideal, but I have two tables in my office. Each is about 6′ long. One for the computer/printer/paper/labels/etc, the other is strictly a packing table.
I’ve got them on separate walls, and in the corner area between the two, all of my assembled boxes that I’ve scavenged are piled pretty haphazardly. I try and keep the biggest ones on the bottom, and smaller ones near the top of the pile. When I’m packing, I look for one that fits my needs and measure as I grab them. My “box pile” probably has 30-40 boxes in it at any given time, ranging in size from probably 30x20x12, down to 6x6x6.
For any boxes that I’ve purchased, or the USPS priority boxes that are flat, I keep them stored vertically under my packing table, organized from biggest to smallest.
It is VERY rare that I need to run out and find/buy a box.
Not ideal, but it’s been working well for the last year and a bit. I’m able to keep a visual on my USPS/purchased box stock, and grab more when I see that I’m running low.
I watch lots of random documentaries.
Also just finished watching Arrested Development and Wentworth.
I primarily use USPS via a CBS, and use Canada Post very little (once or twice since the switch to Shippo).
For the limited use of Shippo that I’ve had, I’m not a fan. Prices are pretty comparable (I don’t ship without tracking, and expedited seems reasonable), but I don’t care for the interface at all, and find it clunky linking between ebay /shippo.
If/when I need to use Canada Post, I’ll likely print directly through Paypal.
I’m bored at my day job, so I’ve been going through the Sox’ past rosters…
Looks pretty obviously like the first initial is S, and the hat doesn’t look all that old.
My money is on Shane Victorino.

Wow. That’s tough. No number, and not overly legible…
Any idea how old the hat is?
Unfortunately I’m no help on the 4x4x4 boxes, but I can vouch for the 6x4x4 ebay branded boxes. I use a lot of them. Great for small stuff, not too light, not too heavy.
I’m forcing myself to slow down on purchasing right now. I have LOTS of stuff at home that’s unlisted, and it’s sounding like we’re going to be moving in the next few months, so I don’t want to have to differentiate between listed and non-listed inventory during the move.
Trying to push through closets, boxes, and shelves of unlisted stuff, knocking out a few each day. I’m guessing I’ve got enough backlog for 200-400 listings, not counting hats (I’ve got a few hundred unlisted hats waiting to see their day).
I’ll weigh in with my $0.0156 (converted from USD to CDN).
I’m about five hours from the border, in Alberta, and ship primarily via USPS using a cross border shipper. If my buyer is Canadian, I generally use Canada Post. Anywhere else, I use USPS (or on occasion, FedEx for heavier items).
If you’re in Toronto, check out Chit Chat’s Express. I’ve not personally used them, but I know that they offer USPS shipping from Canada. They also service the Atlantic provinces, so it’s an option if you end up in NS as well (I’m from NS originally. Beautiful area, but holy taxes…)
When I started out selling, I was shipping using only Canada Post, and since making the switch, my sales have increased, my costs have dropped, and my delivery times are faster. All for as little as $1/cdn per package.
…bumping an old one here, but I was just crunching some to-date numbers on my hat purchase mentioned above, and thought I’d update here.
To date, I’ve listed 361 of the hats in the lot. 81 have sold, for a total of $2,091.10 (before fees/shipping/etc).
I’ve also pulled patches off of a bunch of the hats that were in rough condition or falling apart. I’ve sold 62 of these, for a total of $786.23, and currently have another 179 listed, with 100-125 left to list.
I have gone through the whole collection, and have 13 boxes (approximately 325-400 hats) left to list. There are another 12 boxes that I’m going to send to a local auction house to free up space. These are less desirable, in worse condition, etc.
To summarize, to date, sales of $2,877.33.
Based on conservative average selling prices for hats and patches, and what’s remaining, there should be around $15,125 in hats, and $3,487 in patches left to sell.
It’ll take a few years to have them all listed/sold, but I’d conservatively estimate that when all is said and done, I’ll have turned a $400 investment into upwards of $18,000 – $20,000.
I love this game!
