A customer sent me an angry message a few months ago, over shipping charges. The item in question was a large ashtray, weighing 1.5 lbs. Shipping for 1-2 lbs is around $9 via priority mail, (it couldn’t fit in a PFR). The guy flipped out, calling me a crook, that I give ebay a bad name, etc. and insisting that he could send a 2 ft square, 10 lb box across the country via priority for less than what I was charging, and demanding I lower my shipping *immediately*, or he would report me to ebay. Lol, ok. I give ebay a bad name! I didn’t know I wielded so much power! 😀 Fear my wrath! lol
I didn’t respond, and blocked him. Thanks to him, I now have a policy of ignoring and blocking any buyer that starts a dialogue with me to complain about “unreasonable shipping costs”, (I’ve had a few since then).

Stuff, you could forward him a copy of shipping costs from the USPS. People who don’t ship have NO clue how costly it is. That’s still no excuse for his rudeness of course.

Linda, the guy is actually a seller on ebay! He uses flat rate shipping of $4 for everything, so basically he loses money on shipping with every sale. Totally weird!

Good grief. Just another hater. Life is too short to let them take up space in our brain.

Mike, that basement snake had no business coming at you like he did, but….
He’s right, that is a fantasy piece. Not worth much unfortunately. I would be wary of your auction house and auctioneer. Back in the wild west days of the 1990’s when everyone was going to be an internet millionaire via ebay and numerous other online auction sites, on site auctions were packed and prices sky rocketed, at least in my neck of the woods. Many auctioneers, I hate to say, started to salt their sales with this … garbage …. and duped many unaware buyers. Glass, porcelain, advertising, cast iron, etc… it became an epidemic.
One very good site to get a working knowledge of the continuing problem is:

best to just block and ignore, block and ignore. like an internet boxer.

Ryanne – love the double meaning option here. Internet Boxer, as in block and ignore; and Internet Boxer, as in I pack boxes for stuff I sell on the internet.
Mike – nice comeback. May I use, with some tweaks to personalize?

Wow. You better watch out, or that guy is going to make an eBay citizen’s arrest.
Ebay brings out lots of jerks / trolls. Here’s a weird message I received today in regards to an old 1960s trucker hat I have for sale for $60. I just ignored it and blocked him.
“I will offer you $8.50 for your hat with shipping included in that shape it’s only worth about $7.50 with shipping included but I’ll throw in an extra buck just so I don’t have to look at it every day. Thanks,Bobio”

Yeah, sometimes they just come out of the woodwork. Block and/or ignore.
I recently had a buyer send a message that said “$10 free shipping. You ok bro?” on a hat that I had listed for $32.99. I didn’t respond.
A week later, he sent pretty much the same message “$10 free shipping. You ok bro?”
Another week passes, and “$12 free shipping. You ok bro?”
To this point, I hadn’t responded or blocked, just ignored. After the third message, I knew even if I sold him the hat, he’d likely become an issue, so I blocked him.
I think it was the “you ok bro” in his messages that made me cringe most of all.

Omigosh I had that “you ok bro” message several times on a vintage Levi Garrett trucker hat. He made several lowball offers but I held out for full price ($50). I think he was from Singapore or something like that.
For the jerky troll who complained about the Mr. Peanut listing, I wouldn’t have even written back to him. Block!

Ha, the “You Ok, bro” guy hit me up, too! That guy! Gotta love his optimism.
