I picked up about 150 back issues of 80’s/90’s Easyriders/Iron Horse/Outlaw Biker magazine. In the process of getting them ready to list on Ebay but a little concerned about catching flack about them being vulgar/adult themed due to them having nudity in them. They’re not straight up porn mags but they do have plenty of shots of topless girls/girls posing with the bikes, etc. I’d only be posting pics of the front covers which don’t show anything too bad. A quick search shows there’s tons of other similar listings for these mags (some even showing nudity in their pics) but I know that doesn’t really mean anything because Ebay is flooded with stuff that isn’t supposed to be listed (counterfeit merch, etc.). Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?

My advice is unless it’s legit “classic” art, don’t show anything that could get you flagged. Chances are you’ll be “OK”, but getting hit with a takedown is a really bad feeling. I had a PlayB magazine life size puzzle from the 70s flagged and pulled down even though it was “tasteful” and no worse than what you’d see in a classical oil painting, and I even censored the pics. I had to wait months before relisting with just a pic of the outside box.

I’ve sold a bunch of Playboy back issues (90’s & 2000’s), and a few decks of nude model playing cards with no issues. The Playboys all had to be listed under the “adults only” category, and moved relatively slowly, I’m guessing due to reduced views, and lack of demand since they were newer. With the Playboys, I didn’t post any pictures with nudity. Just front and back covers, plus a shot of the table of contents or something similar to add a third photo.
I’d go for it, and have no concerns.
One thing I will suggest, in most of the older Easy Rider and Iron Horse magazines, there was artwork by David Mann (generally centerfold or nearby). He was hugely popular in the chopper/bobber/Harley circles, and pretty collectible. It may be worth your time to look up those alone, as lots of guys like to plaster their shop walls with them, or frame them.
If nothing else, I’d make sure to put his name in your titles where applicable.

After doing a lil research I see that Ebay says they allow Playboy, Playgirl, Penthouse, and Mayfair mags w/ nudity in regular categories, but any other titles have to go in the “Adults Only” section (even though every single listing of Easyriders I see on Ebay aren’t in the “Adults Only” section).
Thanks for the David Mann tip btw!

Yeah, I had originally had my PB’s listed as magazine back issues, and ebay took them all down, and made me move them to adults only. I suspect it’s like speeding, sometimes, you get away with it, sometimes, you get caught and have to take your lumps.

When you got caught do they just take them down and make you move them or do you get suspended for a lil while or what? Does it affect your seller rating or anything?

What they do to you depends on a number of factors. Ebay is always changing their punishments, and of course it depends on your current selling level as well. My takedown was a while ago and they just pulled it and said to list it in the A/O category, which is pretty much a death knell for most things as Ebay makes it practically impossible to get to the A/O section as a buyer. Back when I was newer, I listed a hat as “coogi style”, got a VERO claim, and was blocked from listing any new items for a full week. Not sure if that policy is still in place or has changed.

I wouldn’t worry about listing them on normal Ebay. Since they are not actual adult magazines, you have little risk of having them removed from the site. I would not post any questionable pictures on the listing, just to be safe.

With mine, they took the listings down, and sent me a message saying I could re-list under adults only. No suspension, no impact to anything else.
As mentioned by almasty, I’d just list them and not post any pictures containing nudity. I can’t imagine you’d have any issues, so long as you keep your listings clean.
