Hello Challengers!
Just 32 new listings for me last week. I lost my listing mojo Thursday night and haven’t listed a thing since then… This week I’ll be even less focused on eBay: lots of time will be spent on Thanksgiving preparations and socializing.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Oops, my longer post didn’t post, I wasn’t logged in.
So keeping it short this time: 39 new listings for me last week.
Hope all is well with everyone!
Oh Amatino, I’m so sorry to hear that your Grandmother passed away. I have an aunt who is 103 and I’m counting on her living forever… Mortality is hard thing to accept. I wish you peace with your loss.
On the eBay front I was still in burnout mode last week and only managed 9 new listings. This week will be a busy one outside eBay for me but should be better on the listing front, I’ve already beaten my total for last week in just one day this week. I’m starting to see the results of not listing much: not many sales and hopefully I’ve learned my lesson about slacking off:)
So sorry VL to hear about how sick you were, the antibiotics should fix you up quickly I hope! Thank you for telling us about your Fall show, it sounds like it was fabulous!
Wishing everyone a peaceful, healthy and productive week!
Only 8 new listings for me last week. I think I might be in my end of the year burnout phase. Gonna have to suck it up if I want to stay in this listing competition…
Vintage Lacy I hope you have recovered from your latest show and are feeling well again, sounds like you were really down for the count! Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
I’m gonna say 136 for my total, although I’m not exactly positive of that #. I think I was at 136 and then added another 5 or 6… My tally sheet is in my desk somewhere but I don’t want to spend any time looking for it. My new listing count is so dismally low this week I’m hoping I spend the time listing instead of searching. Congratulations (in advance) Amatino!!!
Amatino, I’d be interested to know. I’ll keep an eye on it myself and see if I only get the new style wording or if I get both in the future. I also tend to get offers almost every day so it should be easy to check it out.
My Cottage: I do the same, check out the current competition for my item before I respond to the offer. Sometimes my item isn’t worth as much as it was when I listed it and I take the offer; sometimes I can confirm that my item is worth a lot more than I’m being offered so I counteroffer. I am getting better at not thinking WTF when I get a 20% offer on my already lowest priced on eBay item. Some people just like to test the water and really believe in “If you don’t ask, you won’t get”.
I’m reluctant to share my opinion (after being scolded with “NO NO NO” after the last time) but I think you might have a valid point. I used to have only 30 day listings and then I just relisted (with no changes) every 30 days. With that method I had very close to the same sales volume and sales $ amounts as I have currently – but I now have more than twice as many listings. The type of items I’m selling hasn’t changed. I think the relisting process every 30 days was giving me a boost in search. Just my opinion though, not trying to offend or upset anyone who disagrees.
Amatino, I’m getting the same message from eBay on offers I’m receiving now. I assumed eBay just changed their wording. Are you still getting any offers without that wording from eBay? I wouldn’t think that eBay would be able to determine if an offer is reasonable or not and change their wording based on the offer amount.
Sometimes I think that eBay must change things by regions and at different times ie: I’m not dealing with the same glitches as other sellers or I’m experiencing glitches others aren’t (like when eBay was sending my Global Shipping buyers messages that their items had been delivered, but the items had actually only been delivered to eBay in Kentucky, not delivered to my buyers overseas). When I was asking about that problem on the forum nobody else had experienced it but it happened to me several times; luckily now that glitch seems to have been fixed.
Funny Amatino! And I loved the comic depicting what “Howard” might donate that he doesn’t use anymore.
We didn’t get as much snow as predicted here but I’m still only driving if it’s mandatory. So thanks for the free pass on getting my last 5 donations to the thrift store. On my way to my volunteer shift yesterday my car fishtailed and I was lucky that there wasn’t another car close enough to hit. As much as I adore my Tesla it’s perhaps not the best car for driving in snow… I think we only got about 8 inches of snow but now it’s just 12 degrees from a low of 5, so pretty cold! Wish you were here to warm it up faster!!!
I’m at another 5 or so items to donate. I dropped off all my previous donations already so just 5 to go now. I’m not sure if I’ll make the drop off before the end of the month, we got a lot of snow here yesterday and are expecting another 15 inches by Wednesday. So I’ll be busy building a snowman 🙂
Hello All,
I had 53 new listings for the week. I don’t know how any of you accomplish more than that in a week, by yesterday (usually my high listing day of the week) I had to force myself just to get 5 listings up. I don’t expect this week to be as prolific; I’ve got a busy week ahead outside of eBay life.
Wishing you all a fabulous week ahead!
I like the IndySales “I’m addicted to deals” answer. When I’m buying a bunch of items in one category like sewing or craft kits I usually say “I’m kind of a sewing (or crafting) hoarder”. Sellers are usually so dismayed by the picture in their head when I say that they don’t inquire any further. “I’m addicted to deals” works a lot better when the items are random though!
Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much everybody for the good wishes for my cat. He’s doing okay right now (for a sick almost 20 year old cat) so we’re super grateful.
I was supposed to be on vacation last week (I canceled it because of the cat situation) so even though I only did 23 new listings that’s still more than it would have been had I been on vacation.
In defense of my fairly low listing number my cleaning person was here on Thursday morning and disconnected my internet somehow. My husband was out of town and being me I had no idea how to fix the problem. BUT it appears that eBay was all screwed up anyway so I guess I didn’t miss much as far as listing on Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Luckily(?) sales were also screwed so I was only late shipping the measly 2 items that sold on Thursday. My hubs got home on Saturday, plugged in one dangling cord and the internet was fine. Yup, I’m a dope. Since I couldn’t list on Friday I spent it at 2 different Goodwill Outlets in my area. Not the greatest stuff I’ve ever found there, but so fun, and I’m already ahead of what I spent there.
Wishing everyone a great week!
You hit the nail on the head Amatino: you’re unbeatable! Once I got to 100 over my initial goal of 20 items out and then went above the 100+ items mark I stopped counting, but I also didn’t work on getting rid of stuff last week. So I’m probably still under 150 out.
Congratulations on your hard work, determination and persistence! I’m patting you on the back, and yelling “Great job, way to go, Amatino!”. Instead of looking at it from the possible loss of income perspective I see it as you moving ahead, not being stuck and making the best decisions for your peace of mind (as well as your husband’s). Going through a lot of eBay angst for low dollar items is NOT worth it. Of course I say as I continue to list my $6.00 plus shipping craft crap – sigh. But at least the craft stuff doesn’t come back for fit reasons…
Apparently the internet sales tax being collected by eBay for a number of states that began on October 1st is taking more than one of my customers by surprise. I just got this message from a buyer who purchased a sewing pattern from me (which I’ve already shipped).
“I am terribly sorry! I filed a resolution with PayPay when I saw an extra charge attached to this purchase of $16.13. It turns out it was sales tax. I am trying to cancel the complaint with PayPal. I had panicked when ebay told me my account had been illegally accessed. My sincere apologies.”
EBay told her her account had been illegally accessed, when the issue she was asking about was the sales tax that eBay was collecting! What terrible customer service on eBay’s part.
