Hello again, I just looked in the forum under faulty returns case and there is general information there for me to follow. But does anyone have a specific case they can share? Does eBay ever side with the seller or is it the usual “the customer is always right”? Thanks!
Thank you AdventureE and Jay for your assistance! I just got off the phone with eBay. (If you call as soon as they open there’s no wait time!) I was told that eBay can’t change the return reason “missing parts and pieces” and that because there was no resolution between the buyer and myself eBay would force a return within 5 days. I did ask eBay to close the case and ask the buyer to reopen the return for the correct reason (changed mind) but eBay wasn’t willing to do that. EBay said if I don’t get the item back by Thursday of next week the case is closed but I’m sure I’ll get it back by then so I asked how I would be able to get my shipping $ back due to the fact that it’s being returned incorrectly for missing parts and pieces and there are no missing parts or pieces. EBay said I will have to file a faulty return claim after I get the item back. I’ll call eBay again after I get the item back to do that but I’m hoping someone has experience with faulty returns claims and can again give me some helpful advice. Thanks for your help!

Total sales: $261.96 (+ $5.00 item on etsy)
Highest price sold: $29.95 tie: Vtg Tommy Hilfiger Swim Trunks and 3″ Liddle Kiddle Goldilock – but the Liddle Kiddle Goldilock item has an INAD return in process, which I am disputing, more on this below.
Average price sold: $14.55 🙁
Returns: 1 return case opened, see above
# of new listings this week: 17
$ spent on new inventory this week: $6.22Although my total sales for last week was actually $20.00 less than the week before I’m at least happy that I finally have the month right! I’d been reporting April sales all last month instead of March – I’m hoping April will be better for me than last month’s numbers!
I do want to say thank you to Sonia for her comment on my sales last week. Thank you for telling me that I had a 9% sell thru rate, that helped! Unfortunately I’m thinking that as I grow my store my sell thru rate will most likely decrease – I tend to list the “sure things” first and throw the not great buys in my death piles, but now I’m starting to list the death pile stuff 🙂
I’m going to add my return INAD problem under Customer Issues. It’d be great if anyone with experience with customer returns could give me some advice!

# of items sold: 12 🙁 1 of the 12 was thru Etsy.

Highest price sold: $69.95 Vtg Playmobil 5321 Master Bedroom Victorian Mansion Doll House Furniture NIP New (plus buyer paid shipping)
Average price sold: $23.47
Returns: 1 is on it’s way back, I will eat the postage for the free shipping I included when I sold the item but at least the buyer is being honest and not claiming INAD so I won’t have to pay shipping back
# of NEW LISTINGS this week: 36 – I’ve decided not to include relists anymore, seems more accurate that way
$ spent on new inventory this week: $48.15 (for some not very wise, I’m shopping because I hate to Spring clean purchases)About $25.00 more in sales than last week. eBay continues to be very slow for me which is disheartening after I had more than 30 days in a row with sales every day starting in Feb thru the beginning of March. Etsy has almost completely died for me since January, so not doing well there either. It’s unfortunate timing – I am currently spending a lot of time, effort and $ to convert my sewing room into an eBay/Etsy inventory/sales office. But it will really help me to list/organize/find items so much faster once it’s completed!

Highest price sold: Tie – $40.00 for 2 buttons: sold 2 sets of 2 buttons to the same buyer for $84.00 with shipping.
Average price sold: $13.34 🙁
Returns: 1 request for Item not as described, which I got the buyer to close after several messages back and forth. Item was new in package, a sewing machine part. Buyer received it, then looked at the same part on eBay for a completely different machine model and thought I was trying to pull a fast one apparently. Sigh.

# of items listed this week: 30(ish)Sales are soft for me now after over 30 days of sales every single day. Sales every day was amazing for me with my super small store. Interestingly, sales died when I had multiple messages from the buyers of the items I mixed up and sent to the wrong customers. They were just many messages like “Thank you” which required no reply on my part. But maybe there is something to that “eBay wants you to reply to buyer messages quickly” as it seemed really odd that my sales died at the exact same time I had unanswered multiple messages after more than 30 days of sales everyday. Or maybe I’ve just boarded the Conspiracy Theory Train – LOL!

Highest Price Sold: $60.00 (plus buyer paid $10 for shipping) Women’s Black Smoke Signature C Jacquard Olive Outline Loafers (These were free to me, they were delivered to my sister’s rental long after her renter left the country and they 1/2 size too small for either of us)

Returns: 0 – but I accidentally switched the mailing labels on 2 items that I sold and the return shipping, refunded shipping and reshipping costs and free “I’m sorry” gifts are going to eat every bit of the profit on those 2 small $ items that I sold 🙁

Thanks, I didn’t respond to her note as I didn’t have anything nice to say. I forgot to mention that there was no cheaper way to send the package and that the buyer lives on an estate with it’s own name in the most expensive suburb outside Chicago. (I used to live near there.) It is one of the highest priced housing markets in the USA! So glad I saved her a few dollars on postage – LOL!
I accepted a buyers best offer on an item that just barely fits into a medium flat rate box. She says nothing about the priority shipping cost probably because I only charge my actual postage of $12.05. So she is getting a great deal on the shipping. When I go to ship there is a note to seller from the buyer “I do have the post office scan the postage to ensure I was not overcharged which is a common problem on eBay.” Comments?
