39 for me. I was able to make my quota despite my kitchen remodel distractions.
I’ll be attending two birthday celebrations this week so it’ll be a socially busy week. I’m also planning on a long group bike ride this weekend since it’ll be 60 degrees here. I’m going to do my best to still make my weekly listing quota though. I also have to start working on taxes. This is the first year I’ve sold enough on eBay to get an official tax form from Paypal 🙂
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
I sell a lot of out of print vintage sewing patterns and some stores are now marking their prices on the paper pattern envelopes with grease pen or magic marker. Those stores are losing a lot of sales by doing so. I (mostly) only buy the ones with sticker or stapled price tags. The stickers come off easily if heated with a hair dryer before peeling.
39 for me. I met my goal and I’m happy with that. I’m trying for slow and steady rather than intense and burnt out.
VL: I was sorry to hear about all the trying times you experienced. I hope life is much smoother for you now.
Crossing my fingers about meeting my listing goal this week. I’ve got a lot going on with my kitchen remodel and I’m planning several thrift shopping days this week also. Normally I adhere to my rule that I don’t thrift until I get my listing goal accomplished for the day – but I won’t be doing that for several days of this week. I’ll have to see how that plays out.
Welcome Jen! Glad to have you here!
Yikes Libby! You’ll be giving our champion VL a run for the money!
42 for me. We’re remodeling our kitchen this week so I’m not sure how this week will be. But I worked ahead today on lots of drafts just in case I get behind.
Wishing everyone a great week!

Amatino: Thank you for taking the time to create the spreadsheet for the 2020 challenge, it looks great!
I’m not trying to create more work for you but could you please change my 40 per week goal to 39? I’ve already made up a schedule for myself that has me creating 39 new listings per week – and while I hope I achieve more than 39 I don’t want to rework the schedule I created.
I’ve got my fingers crossed that we all reach our goals in 2020!
41 new listings for me.
Thank you Vintage Lacy for thinking up, and Amatino for implementing the 2020 challenge! I had zero new listings for the last 2 days in 2019 and then 5 per day until yesterday. Realizing I’ll need 39 listings per week to meet the 2020 challenge I listed 21 on Sunday. But I didn’t actually step foot outside my house yesterday in order to list that many. So I’m going to try really hard to stick to my New Year’s resolution of 5 or 6 items listed per day instead of resorting to mini listing marathons to achieve our 2020 challenge goal.
Wishing you all a great first week of 2020!
UtahBill: Just to clarify, the listing week as per Amatino (our fearless leader) is Monday through Sunday. The listing number you post here on Monday 1/6/20 will be for the number of new listings you did from Monday, December 30th 2019 through Sunday, January 5th 2020.
Amatino: Thanks for specifying the listing week, I used to be reporting what I listed from Sunday through Saturday and now I can get on the same page with everyone else.
It will be quite a stretch for me but I’m in for the 2020 in 2020 challenge!
December was also my worst month for sales. For me the correlation is very clear: December was the month I listed the least.
Comparing my listing numbers and sales numbers there is an obvious connection between how many items I listed each month and my sales each month. Which makes it easy for me to figure out how to boost my sales: just list more!
Ladies and Gentleman:
That is hilarious that I win the week with just 6 listings, I hope Utahbill and Hausfrau aren’t getting the idea that we’re a bunch of Challenge slackers. All joking aside: I’m so excited that we will gain 2 new challengers for 2020. Welcome Utahbill and Hausfrau!!!
And thank you to Amatino for thinking up, starting and maintaining this challenge. You are the best!
Hello All,
I just returned from visiting family also but I managed 6 new listings earlier in the week.
Right now I’m looking forward to finding my mojo for the new year challenge.
I actually like the idea of a 2010 challenge Sharyn – that way all my listing will have already been completed and I won’t have to go searching for my listing mojo.Happy New Year!!!
Thought I’d update this in case anyone else ever managed to be as dense as me. My offers to watchers had disappeared because I accidentally hit the quick filters arrow and it took that option off my active listings page. Duh, sometimes I surprise even myself with how computer illiterate I actually am.
Yup, when anything sells immediately I’m always thinking I listed it for too little…
12/26/2019 at 7:52 pm in reply to: Buyer of a board game part just unsolicitedly shipped it back, and so much more #72138I also would guess that the buyer meant to send the package to someone else and mailed it to you by mistake.
I had a lady buy an item from me but before I shipped it she sent a message saying the item was fake and to cancel the sale. I cancelled the sale but sent her back a message letting her know that the item was not fake but that I had cancelled the sale at her request. She immediately sent me a bunch of messages saying she sent the cancellation request to the wrong seller and please don’t cancel. Her cancellation message was really nasty, so I just said “sorry, too late” and sold the item for more later on.
People buying multiple eBay items at the same time sometimes get confused…
Exactly Ryanne! Before I started selling on eBay I never knew that car accidents happened immediately after buying something on eBay and then also immediately caused cancer, although to be fair, sometimes it’s the spouse with cancer.
you can correctly finish the story of why the buyer couldn’t pay for the unpaid item without reading more than the first few words.
