I always start a new listing by going into an existing listing and “sell similar”. A few items I started after the app update did this same thing and erased my “template”. After a couple of items, that stopped happening and has not happened since.

Number of items listed this week: 32Happened to us a year or two ago with a Subaru hat. Multiple others like our’s were listed. It was not fake, but it was hit as a fake.
The issue was, back then we were doing 30 day listings and relisting after they ended. Each new listing had a new item number. So we ended up getting hit with 3 or 4 vero violations in a few weeks and we’re suspended for 3 months.
After about a week we got it solved by calling multiple times. We got Subaru to say it wasn’t a fake and finally got someone at eBay to understand the multiple item number issue.
My advice is to call, call, call.
P.S tried listing on Etsy during that time, but found that I didn’t like it at all.
As far as fast delivery…we ordered two things from Amazon last week that where 2 days guaranteed. Took a week to get here. They both sat in the St. Louis warehouse for days.
When I buy off of eBay, the items arrive when expected. At least that’s how it has been for me.
I think we have around 800 more items in our store now compared to last year at this time.
Our November sales were $1000 more than last year.
December so far is exactly the same as last year.
We have never done any promoted listings until this weekend. Not very scientific as it’s 3 days, but no real increase from what I would expect without promoted listings. We sell vintage clothes, vintage household items….you know, estate sale stuff. So not sure promoted really work. That’s been my thought anyway. Our target customer is someone who searches very specifically on eBay for an exact match.
We had a troubling episode tonight with the “simplified returns”. We have an INAD, because we sent the wrong jacket to a guy. It was automatically approved.
Under the old system we could have offered to send the correct jacket as replacement.
Now, what could happen is we send the correct jacket and he returns the other jacket….and we are forced to refund him and he has the jacket.
I doubt that happens, but it could. And with the old system we could fix this right away and not have to worry.
Another was a VHS tape that didn’t work. I responded to the guy and asked him not to return the tape and I just refunded him. He still returned it because the return was automatically approved. 🤦♂️

Number of items listed this week: 38I’ve been busy the last few months with some outside “construction” work that eBay has just been on cruise control. I’ve been listing just to enough to keep our listings at around 2600, so about 40 a week. Cool thing is, sales have still been good to great. Now that it’s cold out I’ll be back at eBay more full time again, which is actually the work I love. It’s just really hard to say no to good cash for jobs like building a deck or putting in wood floors.
eBay was talking to me on Twitter but hasn’t responded now in 3 days. Most recent issue is every time I try to change the brand the app crashes.
Condition description isn’t on the app either. I always use an existing listing and change it for my new listings. Makes it quicker for me. But without condition description, if I list through the app, it will have the original item’s condition description.
Also as noted, my business policies for shipping aren’t on the app. So no handling fee.
Pictures take forever as mentioned. And if that’s change the size by cropping a picture, I get an error message.
So basically have to start on the app and finish on the computer, which I have not done in years.

08/15/2018 at 11:51 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 373: Should Running A Business Be Complicated? #47514T-Satt: There are several thrifts around by here that do bag sales. One does it the first of the month for $2 paper grocery bag. I leave with a bunch of clothes for pennies a piece. The other store does bag sale everyday they are open. Another thrift I go to frequently has everything for $1 to $2. And they have all sorts of amazing vintage and high end items. Other than that at estate sales clothes are usually $1 to $2. Because I do well with these items, I don’t normally spend more than a few dollars. I did buy some unworn World War II service boots for $20 a few weeks ago 😂

Number of items listed this week: 30Best week since June. Lots of sales. Just had someone open a return for a heavy cooler. It cost $60 to ship from St Louis to California. They said the handle had more rust than the picture, which isn’t true. With free shipping we would be eating the return shipping anyway, but unless eBay sides with us when it gets back here, will be out $120. The buyer is one of those companies to ships stuff to Japan. Maybe they are just fishing for a partial refund and won’t retuen it, who know.
