Steph, if you print your labels through Ebay, they can still go First Class as long as they’re 16 oz. or less.

I’ll use a PFRE for some sandals (KEEN), flip flops, or TOMS (after stuffing with tissue paper to hold shape). Whenever I plan to ship in a PFRE, I note it in the listing and ask them to contact me for a shipping quote if they’d prefer them to ship in a box.

No problem. Glad you got in before the deadline.
Have you heard back from your buyer yet? If she chooses to keep the item after reading your explanation for the detached tags, it’ll definitely take a call to Ebay to make sure the case is not considered closed “without seller resolution”.
Just want to clarify something. If you accept the SNAD, it’s my understanding that as long as you check the box to give a complete refund, including shipping both ways, within the time frame Ebay gave you, you will not get a defect. Since you agree to the complete refund, it’s not considered to be closed without seller resolution.

Yeah. I wouldn’t be happy if I bought a pair of high-end shoes and they were sent in anything that wasn’t a box. Actually, the only footwear I ship in a PFRE is Keen sandals or similar. Never any structured shoes or anything with heels.
Unlike downgrading, it’s certainly not necessary to point out that you’re shipping Priority instead of FC, but if you send some kind of communication anyway, since it’s a positive, I’d certainly mention it.
If the difference is only a couple of bucks, I often upgrade from SmartPost to Priority. Not worth the drive to the UPS store for that amount. I always send buyers a thank you note after a sale and let them know when to expect their item, so I make sure to mention that I upgraded the shipping.
I’m so on board with Incompetent Picker’s POV. As a thorough and careful shopper, by the time I click the Buy-it-Now button, I’ve generally spent a lot of time researching the purchase and am feeling good that I can check that task off my list.
While I’m not cold-hearted, judging by the gaming of the system, this isn’t this seller’s first rodeo. Not only does he disappoint buyers, his workaround displays dishonesty. I’d report him to Ebay without a second thought.
01/25/2017 at 9:22 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 294: Finding the Valuable Caches and Going All In #11181My only cache so far was a bag containing 17 packages of identical vintage nylon stockings. They weren’t high-end stockings, but all were a long size that I knew would sell well to the male market. The entire bag was marked at .99 (Savers). They each sold for $12.99 with free shipping that cost me $2.60. Grossed about $175 from a .99 investment over the course of a couple months.
Haven’t heard of either. I’d put both names in the title.
I put the measurements in to begin with. It takes about 60 seconds. Not sure of your gender, though. I’m a woman with small hands and it’s not too hard to get my cloth tape measure down into the toe and stretch it to the heel. If I had man hands, it might not be possible.
Congrats on the new house, Steve! That sounds like a great setup.
