Thanks, Amatino. I was impatient and called Ebay as soon as I received the notice that the buyer filed (as I instructed her to do…she was SO pleasant). They closed in her favor, but said that they’d pick up the tab. Looks like it all turned out well. Thank you both!
Thank you SO much, Sharyn!
I do as Julie suggested. Unless it’s really important for you to have the money, take it down for a couple of weeks until “buyer” has moved on to someone else.
Thanks for the clarification, Julie.
BTW, I’ve been paying taxes on my Ebay sales for over 10 years. Not trying to game the system.
Coincidentally, I signed into the forum to ask the same question. As of 12/31/2019, I’m no longer running a business. We’re greatly downsizing and I’ve retired from Ebay. All I’m selling now is stuff from our house/closets.
I don’t want to give Ebay my SSN. My account is now an individual, rather than business. So, does everyone who signs up to sell something on Ebay after July have to give Ebay their SSN? Like random people who just want to sell a few things from their house?
Thank you, thank you, Simon! Never heard of the Google Lens app. I’ve always used the Goggle image search on my laptop. Will have to check out that app.
Thanks, again, to everyone!
Thanks for sharing your interesting story.
Your selling snacks in school beginning, made me smile at a memory of one of my sons going through granola bars like crazy when packing his lunch. Found out that he was selling them to classmates. His entrepreneurship started with a “crayon repair” business in first grade. He was a freshman in high school when the first iPhone came out. He and a friend put an ad on craigslist offering to wait in line at the mall Apple store in exchange for cash. When all was said and done, he pocketed $450 in cash that day.
I stumbled upon a Facebook group recently called “Buy Nothing (my town’s name)”, and I’m loving it. We’re in the midst of a major downsize, and it feels so good to fulfill someone’s “ask” with something that’s just taking up space in our basement. It’s a different feel than the freecycle groups and things aren’t necessarily given on a first-come basis. Only members from your own town are allowed to join.
It’s very heartwarming and makes you feel like you’re in a “neighborhood” like the old days of community. The other day someone asked if anyone had any peppermint extract. She needed a teaspoon of it for a recipe and knew the rest would probably just sit in her cabinet for the next ten years. Within minutes, someone responded that they had some, were on their way out anyway and would drop it at her house.
My daughter is in her town’s group and gave an example of someone asking to borrow some tables for a graduation party last summer. She not only ended up with tables, but also chairs, tablecloths and pop-up canopies.
Here’s a link explaining the premise:
If he/she makes any profit on it, I hope they use it to buy punctuation on future listings.
Just a reminder to everyone that you won’t be able to change your handling time if you have offers to buyers pending so you need to try and remember to stop making offers a few days before you leave town.
Amazing setup. Thanks for sharing!
07/08/2019 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 418: Brick & Mortar Store Is Not For Us #64702Mike, I’m so sorry to hear about Susan’s pathology findings and the rough road ahead both physically, emotionally, and financially. Will definitely include both of you in my prayers.
Everything’s okay since I changed the name over there to my store name rather than my first and last. Just checked and none of my listings are showing up anymore when I google my name, but thanks for the tip.
