I just set up business policies and love it!
Ryanne can you talk about how you manage handling-time when business policies are in place. I am going to be out of town next week and need to change my handing time from 1 day to 5 days.
How do you normally make the adjustment? I used to have to bulk edit all the items in my store 500 at a time and manually change the handling. I am afraid if I do this again the system will create a whole bunch of new polices.
I am assuming that I can just change the handling time in each policies and that with populate to the listings. I am also worried this cause my store to implode.
Looking for you sage advice 🙂
Thanks

you are correct, you can change the handling time on each of the policies rather than on the bulk editor 500 at a time. that’s what i love it, it takes me a couple minutes to change my handling time rather than 30-45 minutes each time.

Yep.. you hit the nail on the head as far as how to do it.
Go to your business policies preferences, then when there, click on the heading above the Type field to sort and they will align alphabetically and all you shipping policies will be right together.
We have 5 policies that cover all 1,200 + listings. Click on the blue edit and you will be able to change the handling time. Do that just 4 more times and you are done.
Ryanne and Jay held out on Business Policies for a long time. It was discussed here on SL numerous times, think it was a year or more ago, but finally one day she posted, WOW! Love Business policies and the rest is History LOL 🙂 Yeah one of the better things Ebay changed for the better.

Note that the option to change handling time in the bulk editor goes away when you opt into business policies. That has confused a few people on the forum here after switching, and then trying to do with the bulk editor, which is the way that they always had done it.

Just a reminder to everyone that you won’t be able to change your handling time if you have offers to buyers pending so you need to try and remember to stop making offers a few days before you leave town.

So a few notes on this one. I tried adding in business policies and it was just too crazy at the moment, so I opted out again. My listings are just all over the place, and it was really just a huge mess. I’ll sit myself down this week-end and try again.
I had a buyer last week purchase a purse on Monday, and send me a note saying that she was moving on Saturday and she wanted me to send it to her new address, but wait to mail it on Saturday. I have one day shipping in my policies, so here is what I did. I waited until the last minute to purchase the label. Then, when I purchased the label, I can pre-date it for up to 3-4 days later than today (I forget what it is, prob. 3 – so I can buy a label today and actually ship it on Friday). So I did that, waited until Friday and shipped it then. I told her that because of policies I had to ship it one day earlier than what she asked me for, but she was just fine with that. And when she got there, it was waiting for her. Best thing, no marks on my shipping as far as I can tell. So that’s a nice work-around for just being a few days late if needed.
