Thanks for detailing some of your process, I too deal with a small amount of automotive parts, research is indeed the key as well as good photos.
So many sellers are not good lister’s and it’s easy to stand out in the reselling of parts if you present well.
I think you see a lot of big commercial parts yards trying to sell but they’re too hasty with their listings, although if someone needs that hard to find part it doesn’t matter…gotta have it now.04/13/2019 at 8:11 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Vintage TV trays, Quack medical device, books, Tension pole lamp #60116Early on, before GSP was a thing, I used to ship items worldwide myself but as the value of my inventory has increased the value of GSP for me has increased as well, it has saved me a lot of money over the years.
If I was only shipping non breakable lower cost items I would probably take the risk of not using GSP.In this particular case, it may have been just some extremely rough handling.

I noticed that option on my iPhone eBay app yesterday and sent out about 20 offers.
Had one sale within a few hours on a sweater that had been in my inventory for over 3 years.Nice to hear back from buyers who put weird stuff to good use.
I’ve done some consignments but usually only on high dollar items.
I do a 50-50 split after subtracting 15% in fees.Since you asked.
The end of the week picked up and I sold 12 items for about $475 plus 3 items on FB marketplace for $480 so it turned out to be a good week.
I need about $500-$600 a week to cover my bills now, although I’m rethinking my need for the new vehicle lease I get every three years, I’ve only put 11k miles on this 2017 Outlander in 28 months, my old Caravan keeps plugging along and I use it for any short trips like scavenging and hauling the dogs, every year I think it will die. After this lease is up I may just buy another cheap caravan and be rid of a $200 a month payment.04/01/2019 at 9:58 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Carhartt vest, Kaleidoscope paper, Twister game, JVC Speakers, Zenith record player #59479Selling locally changes the whole equation on listing together or separately, you will have an easier time selling as a system as the high cost of shipping is negated.
I believe you will need to join local selling groups to get the most exposure. Pick the ones with the most members.
I say this as during the final phase of listing an item you are given the option of choosing up to 10 local selling groups to post your listing to, that way your listing gets seen by members in the groups and not just those that happen upon your ad while perusing FB marketplace.
You’ll get a lot of “is this available?” and “I’m interested”, I just respond by hitting the thumbs up.Yes, I pulled out the dents on those dust cones of my JVC speakers, it even worked on the chrome ones on the midrange and tweeters. I used my Dyson with no damage.

You need to be responsive and available.
Use your eBay experience of good photos and descriptions and your way ahead of everyone else trying to sell their stuff.
I had so many people responding to my big speaker ads, I ignored the “would you take… for it” messages and didn’t discount. All 1st come, no holds.
The nice part is no packing and no fees, cash is king.03/22/2019 at 8:32 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Ray Bans, Long Haul jeans, McIntosh preamp, Florsheim shoes, Zippo #59066I’ve done well with the small leather items as well.
You know your holsters, wish I was more familiar with them as I see them often. I ride a Bianchi.03/21/2019 at 12:16 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Ray Bans, Long Haul jeans, McIntosh preamp, Florsheim shoes, Zippo #59012The falls don’t have far to fall with the recent flooding, this was a few days after the river crested. We have more snow melt headed our way to swell the river again.
Glad I live on a hill.03/21/2019 at 12:14 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Ray Bans, Long Haul jeans, McIntosh preamp, Florsheim shoes, Zippo #59010I ended up wrapping it in a couple layers of bubble wrap, cutting down a box to fit tightly and then using an 18x18x24 uhaul box with air pillows all around it.
03/19/2019 at 1:31 pm in reply to: Picking Up Hitchhikers by the Side of the Road for Fun & Profit #58942In the early part of the century I would go to a local auto salvage with my toolbox to pull parts needed for those I was selling at my dealership.
They are all orderly now with computerized inventory and online sales but still have a few acres of what they call the ‘Ewe Pullet’ lot.The counter guys all knew me and gave me great prices on the larger items and when I told them I had a dozen or so small bits in my tool box they just nodded and let me have them.
Those were fun days, I often think about going back just to look through the glove compartments and trucks for interesting resale items but they’ve probably already been gone through.Maybe, the buyer is from Australia.
Theres a reseller here in town that does a similar approach, they have space in some antique malls as well as a storefront but don’t sell online, coincidentally they are named Junk in the Trunk.
