….you get more excited about the box sizes and packing material than you do about the actual contents of boxes you receive!

…a quick trip to the grocery store takes 2 hours because it is next to the thrift store.

…as you wrap Christmas presents, you are annoyed at having to use scotch tape and are dying to just slap a long wide slab of packing tape all around the box.
…you can find sold inventory to pack and ship more quickly than you can find the Christmas presents you hid somewhere in the house a few weeks ago.

I feel you with this one. And I’m really excited to see how many Amazon boxes I can pick up at the curb today before the recycling trucks come since I know there will be a real bonanza from the Christmas deliveries.

You make purchases based on the typical amount of room an Uber XL can hold and then cheer when everything fits in the trunk with an inch to spare.

Walking down the street with friends is annoying because you can’t help but kick trash bags and dig around for anything good to take.
-
12/24/2019 at 9:51 am #72057
you see a box on the street and say out loud “that’s a nice box!” and either grab it or wish you could.

you can correctly finish the story of why the buyer couldn’t pay for the unpaid item without reading more than the first few words.

You fondly remember when you could give a buyer negative feedback and listings did not have photos. No photos was fine because all you had was an AOL account on excruciatingly slow dial-up internet anyway.
Research was pretty much unnecessary since you could start everything at 99 cent auctions and let the market set the price without a second thought so you also remember that the longest time spent on any listing on eBay was the time it took to receive a money order from the buyer.

…if you are watching these forums on Christmas day.

…you have already listed the presents you received that you don’t have any use for.

Exactly Ryanne! Before I started selling on eBay I never knew that car accidents happened immediately after buying something on eBay and then also immediately caused cancer, although to be fair, sometimes it’s the spouse with cancer.

Aha, money orders… auctions…
This one just happened – when you give gifts from unsold inventory – and they love em!
( guilty )

… you are more excited about selling an item for $10 which has sat in your inventory for 3 years than the one you just listed and immediately sells the next day for $30.

….you had to take your 35mm film to Walmart to get your photos put on a CD, so you could take it to the public library to upload them to ebay, because your linux computer only had dial up and was too slow and incompatible with everything.
Coincidentally the first item I sold was a digital camera. lol

The Seam Store,
I’m late to the party here, yet the horror, the horror, of your film upload memory.
For me, during the early days, more horror to add. I also had to find a wise guy techie neighborhood kid to help me with all aspects of getting photos uploaded. I remember walking the streets with discs and crappy cameras and knocking on doors. The money was so good, I endured the humiliation.

-
12/31/2019 at 4:51 pm #72311
My first camera I used for eBay was a Sony Mavica that took a 3.5″ floppy disk as film. They only held about 40 photos…and that went in my computer, also an early Mac…listing on AOL dial up. About every third listing, AOL would disconnect me and I would lose whatever listing I was working on…amazing I stuck with it. Everything was auction…not so many rules..ahhh, those were the days!

Thanks for the Mavica reminder ! It was a game changer, people used to compliment my pictures with that thing (macro setting!)
Still have it and the replacement, see them in resale shops for pennies.
And guess it’s time to get rid of the several hundred floppies in several boxes somewhere! Also still have the first photos ever taken for eBay, film camera , developed at a photo place, then scanned, then “html” into the eBay description. On dial up.
Yikes.
Happy New Year!
