I find FedEx ground to be cheaper than Smartpost, at least here in the middle of the country.

Spent $85 on a wide variety of items, there was a sparse crowd so the weird stuff went cheap. They still had an outside ring, you had to brush the snow off to see what was there. I bought a big box of vinyl LPs and as soon as I got home I spread them out on the living room floor so I could get the snow off before it melted. Box of wooden shoes, 5 vintage costumes, electronic testing devices, a 1966 Panasonic clock radio.
It always amazes me what can be found here on the prairie.12/12/2016 at 4:03 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 288: The War Of Attrition Will Not Grind Us Down #7905I agree wholeheartedly.
When I need something I’m always looking for it on eBay first.12/12/2016 at 3:59 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 288: The War Of Attrition Will Not Grind Us Down #7904Wow, those are nice numbers for a small store. What type of stuff do you sell?
If you’re like me and rely on your phone for photographing items to list on eBay here’s a small but I think important tip, clean your lens.
We’re always grabbing that phone and it’s easy to put an oily film on the lens. I use lens cleaning tissue that I’ve acquired along with camera kits I’ve bought over the years.12/05/2016 at 6:51 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 287: How Is the Holiday Selling Season for You? #7256Nov 27 to Dec 3 2016

Growing up in the sixties, my dad was the manager of the Greyhound bus depot. I remember at 8 years old (1966) being put on a bus alone bound for Duluth to visit my cousins. Also getting a box of illegal (for Minnesota) fireworks that a driver would pick up n the way back through South Dakota.
In 2003 I traveled around Uruguay and the bus service was great, they even had a beverage cart with an attendant serving refreshments.Back ups:
Maybe the crossover listings on Bonanza and TrueGether could be your back ups.Sixties house:
My home is starting to be very much like that guys. I’ve been acquiring furnishing from that period for a couple years now. They remind me of what I perceive was a better time and I think they look cool. Madmen, Bewitched, Dick Van Dyke and any footage of the astronauts wives watching the liftoff in their homes give me ideas.
I’m in the process of looking for a home to buy and one of my criteria is it must be a built in the sixties ranch style. That would be a very good buy but make sure it’s working. I always have a small speaker with me for these vintage amps.
Don’t worry about the knob, it’s actually the outer metal sleeve that’s missing, it will still sell for $250+ if the rest of the case is in good shape.
Scratchy and intermittent controls are a common problem that is easily fixed with a deoxit spray cleaner. You will need to remove the outer case or sometimes the bottom panel to access the pots.
Selling electronics like this is all about giving the buyer confidence in you as a seller as well as the condition of the item, a video of its functionality will put you above anyone else selling the same or similar model. Be brief in the description, just the visual condition and what doesn’t work if anything, no need to go on about features because just like most things selling on eBay, the buyer knows more about it than you do.

• Cost of items purchased this week $70There’s an app called LetGo that I tried out a few weeks ago for sourcing, a guy on there has a turntable for $75, kinda high but I inquired, he finally drove to my house from a nearby town and we test it out, turns out the belt is broken, I say nothing, he finally says how bout $25 and say $20, sold. I find a new belt on ebay for less than six bucks, it works great and there was an extra phono cart that came with that may fetch $200!
My daughter came down Wednesday for the thanksgiving weekend so except for packing and 1 estate sale, I haven’t done much eBay related business like listing, but this morning I’m headed out to pick up a box of free reel to reel tapes I found on CL then back to the routine of research and listing.

I’m wondering if a road trip to larger Canadian cities would be worthwhile as the exchange rate is favorable to the American dollar.
I’m close enough to Winnipeg to make the drive.Nov 13-19 2016

• Cost of items purchased this week $90Made a road trip to buy yet another old stereo console. I now have 3 stripped wooden consoles in my driveway, all great shape but no one wants them and I don’t have time to covert them into liquor cabinets. I think I’ll borrow my GF’s chain saw and cut them up for fire wood.
The amps I took out of them are all tube and sound great, I like the primitive look of the exposed tubes.
I just sold a pair of raw speakers from one of them too. -
