Nice job cleaning that up.
I would’ve held out for $300 on eBay but if you helped a buddy get a nice classic silver face Pioneer good for you.01/16/2017 at 7:06 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 293: How To Hire Your First Employee #10455Jan 8 to 14 2017

This morning I awake to a negative, in Spanish saying package did not arrive. 150 dollar radio sent to Florida on Dec 30, tracking still shows “in transit”. I start a missing package case with USPS and call eBay. The rep says that the negative will stick unless the buyer does a revision.
Now I’ve had no contact with the buyer, no case has been opened. The eBay rep says I should’ve paid extra for express Mail, what? really? I got off the phone quickly after that.
I messaged the buyer letting him know I’m working on finding his package and hoping he’ll revise his feedback.
It was a great couple of weeks seeing that 100%-

This has an all tube 3 channel amplifier and reverb.https://i.imgur.com/DW9OJP5.jpg

Experimenting with a higher priced item searched for on eBay and making money by doing a better job of presenting it and of course asking for a lot more.
Made a $250 offer on a very nice reel to reel deck from the original owner after doing some extensive research, he countered $25 higher and I went for it. Free shipping plus accessories, a hard case and a collection of tapes. I’ve received assurance of proper packaging. With what I know about these items I’m hoping for a $600 minimum return.12/29/2016 at 9:20 am in reply to: What the highest price/ biggest profit item you have ever sold on Ebay? #9076That’s a great sale Amber, you took an educated gamble and won!
I’ve sold an MG sports car I bought in 1985 for $3000 and sold it on an eBay auction for $9000 in 2010.
I bought a turntable for $75 at an estate sale and decided I liked it a lot and would probably keep it, but everything has a price so I listed it at $1200 over the highest ever sold and someone still bought it for $2000.

These are usually bought by custom home audio installers who know the equipment and if you mark it as untested beyond power on with no guarantee you should still do alright.I was just thinking that too, a date stamp of when the post was added. Maybe it’s just me but I always look for that when I’m reading forums, givse me a better sense of time and space and where I am, haha.

• Cost of items purchased this week $500Last summer I bought a couple stereo components at a yard sale, the guy said he had a number of turntables buried away in a closet. Due to his ill health he wasn’t willing to show me then so I left my name and number with him.
Months passed with no call. Then, a couple weeks ago I happen to see a neighborhood ad for vintage furnishings and recognized his name so I gave him a call and set up a meeting.
He and his wife both have cancer and can’t get around very well, their house is basically a hoarders paradise, cluttered to the ceiling with odd weird stuff.
I was finally able to convince him to let me go upstairs and rummage through his closet of treasures and found 11 turntables, most covered in a thick layer of dust, some were very high end. After a close examination I determined them to be easily fixed if not already working.
I wanted the lot but it took some kid glove handling as he was somewhat reluctant and seemed to have a story behind each one. He wouldn’t give me a price point to start with so I offered him $500 thinking I can’t do too badly at less than fifty apiece for them, also knowing there was a Pioneer among them that was worth that much.
He took a day to decide but now my kitchen table and chairs are covered with turntables, the pioneer is listed and I’m slowly cleaning up the others.
Just don’t come across a deal like this very often.12/23/2016 at 11:55 am in reply to: What Sells on eBay: Yamaha stereo, Man from U.N.C.L.E. costume, Turntable, mismatched boots. #8694Those McIntosh are rare.
Let me know what else you have, maybe I can help.List what you feel like listing, I get bored with certain categories sometimes and all categories sell year round it seems.
Back in mid 1980’s I bought, sold and collected vintage watches including Rolex. Back then fakes were easy to spot, nowadays it’s quite difficult although a jeweler familiar with them could tell as soon as he opened it up.
There are websites dedicated to spotting fakes.
Great brands to look for include:
Vasheron Constantine
Patek Phillipe
Universal
Omega
Cartier

• Cost of items purchased this week $200The auction was sparsely attended again on Saturday with temps not rising above 0.
Stayed around until they got to the furniture and picked up a few vintage chairs and a danish modern coffee table. The chairs were cheap but the coffee table cost me eighty bucks, it’s a Bassett.I’ve advised a few potential buyers of turntables to beware of free shipping, the seller may not put in the time or effort involved in safely packing those. May apply to other fragile items as well.
I’ve never liked Kmart as they ask too many question at the checkout. I just want to swipe and go.
