Thanks for the quick reply, Steve List! I will try out those instructions the next time I want to make a post like this.

How did you get the photos to show up in the actual forum post itself, instead of just as links as in mine?10/06/2017 at 11:37 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Lamps, models, Army field jacket, Crock, boots, tapes, hats, Koi dishes #23668A few months ago, I sold a murano glass sphere that has been part of a lamp my grandmother purchased in the early 1960s. It sold for $250 via GSP to a fancy design shop in Copenhagen (price including shipping and fees $400). I kept checking their website, and FINALLY they’ve posted the new lamp they made out of it. They typically charge $800-$1200 for similar lamps. I have to say that I really don’t like what they’ve done with it, but it’s still pretty cool to have sold to high end scandinavian designers. I like a lot of the other stuff I’ve seen on their website.

It’s the same scene as this one:
But hopefully I’ll be able to sell it for more than this one went for at auction (19.99).
Though I’m starting to get somewhat attached to it, which is dangerous. Scared of becoming a hoarder.

Hi mrh78,
Thanks for chiming in with your vintage TNF knowledge! Just knowing the name Apogee is a huge help.I did know that there is the ability to clip on pouches to these jackets, but how does a hole that seems to be located at around the belly button help with this? i would think that the metal ring next to the hole would be a better way to clip the pouch to the jacket. no?
I don’t know why, but I love learning about all these little details about the things I sell, even when it’s not necessary to know much in order to sell them, as in this case.
love it

“that’s a fair price but I’m just not willing to spend that much today”. – that is awesome – I am definitely going to incorporate that into my spiel.09/15/2017 at 7:32 pm in reply to: eBay Ended my Listings. Prescription needed …. for an Ice Pack? #22876I remember seeing items like this in several different steve schultz what sold videos. Maybe he’ll chime in on this thread.

I am impressed with your $10 offer for those like-new boots after the seller said they wanted $50. I was thinking you were going to say you got them for $30. How do you get up the nerve to go so low – you don’t worry about pissing off the seller with such a ridiculously low offer for such a high value item?
Gotta work on getting my nerve up to make low offers when people ask me to make an offer…

Holy moly! Am I glad I read this post! I have always thought that since I get $100 of free insurance for priority mail, that the insurance is always included. So I have never ever checked the insurance box – I thought that was only if you wanted to buy insurance for items worth over $100. Luckily I have never needed to file a claim in the 2 years I’ve been selling. But I guess I’ll be checking that box from now on… Thanks for the info.

09/04/2017 at 10:16 pm in reply to: Has anyone moved to a more affordable location to live the eBay Life? #22542I moved to a rural area for other reasons, and then started doing ebay. Don’t count on lower utility rates. Population density is very low, so there are fewer customers but still the same amount of physical infrastructure (poles, cables, etc) the utility has to pay to maintain. So electricity is more expensive for me. And there is no natural gas option (for the stove) where I am, though you can get a propane tank. Also, in terms of Internet, you may have only one provider option. although I feel fortunate to have fast internet at all (a nearby town has none – no company wants to build out the physical infrastructure for so few customers), I have no leverage in terms of saying I will switch providers. When Charter purchased Time Wrner recently, my cable internet provider, they doubled the monthly fee!
But, on the positive side, not having a large mortgage anymore is awesome!
I would research supermarkets, and make sure there is one not too far away and that it is one you would actually want to shop at. For me there are two within 20 minute drive, but I don’t like them. The one I go to regularly is a 30 minute drive to get to. But luckily there is a tiny bodega/spcialty shop 10 minutes away for emergency purchases of 1 or 2 items.

That’s great, Linda! I continue to slowly move in that direction as well. Thought sometimes it seems very slow. I’ve just started this same strategy of auctioning off old low value inventory (thanks SL folks for the idea). Feels better to use free auction listings for the crap I need to just get rid of, listings that are just going to waste otherwise. Last week I moved about 30 items to auction, and only 2 sold, but that’s 2 more than had been selling previously. So I’m going to continue with that approach for now.
I wonder if anyone ever uses the free auction listings for items they would normally put at fixed price, but they’ve maxed out the free listings in their store level. I mean, you could set your initial bid to whatever you would have set your fixed pricing listing to. And if you don’t want the buyer to have to wait a week for the auction to be over, you could always set the Buy It Now price to be the same as the initial bid or just a penny higher. And set the auctions to relist when not sold. That would buy you a bunch of free listings. I probably wouldn’t do this myself, b/c it seems not worth the hassle to have two different configurations for my main inventory listings, but for folks looking to squeeze as much as possible out of a store subscription, maybe that’s an option?
