Got the same message.
Glad to hear it’s not just me. Now I feel better about my decision to do nothing and wait and see.
I don’t know anything about buying large quantities of things from China, but as a very small business, I wouldn’t buy $80k worth of stuff without insuring it for the whole amount.

Looks like you may have found yourself a winner! Very cool.
I strongly second Jay’s comment! This past summer was a big one for wasp nests on my house, which I sprayed off with my hose with no horrible repercussions, but then when I absentmindedly tried the same approach on a different sort of nest on my propane tank, they came after me! It was a hornet’s nest, and just like in the cartoons, they came after me as I ran! Luckily I was only bit in one place, one time, on the tip of my nose, and it hurt like hell for about an hour, even with ice on it. Then there was moderate pain for about a week.
I’ve never seen such nests just lying around my yard, empty. But I’ll keep a look out. I’ve got plenty of abandoned birds’ nests, but I learned on SL years ago that it’s not allowed to sell them on ebay in order to prevent people from helping themselves to and then selling not-yet-abandoned nests.
LOL!
I want to go see that thing – but it sounds like it’s not going to be possible…
AF – you are a wealth of information!
In the end ebay refunded the buyer with ebay funds – I couldn’t believe it, since tracking showed delivered. Maybe they are covering stolen package scenarios now, too?
Thanks so much, Sharyn!
Yes, I meant second from the left – oops.
That would be great! Please go ahead and post it – thanks.
Hope so – it’s just very strange, b/c the photo they gave her, which she sent me, shows the package inside a glass porch door on a floor that is very distinct b/c there’s a perfectly circular hole in it. Tracking says “delivered to your safe place” or something like that. And she has no idea where that place is, even from looking at the photo. I guess the place is so safe, nobody can find it! lol
Not the seller’s problem, except that the buyer opened a case and my funds are now on hold while ebay reviews the case. Now I’m wondering if I should call ebay today or wait for them to review it. I’m leaning towards the latter, since it was marked by the carrier as delivered. Not really worried at this point – just a little nervous b/c of the uncertainty due to this being the first time I’m dealing with this situation.
I’m super grateful for the Scavenger Life community, and J&R for creating and managing it.
And jinx myself I did! Just got a message from a GSP buyer in the UK about not being able to find the delivered package, despite there being a photo of where it was delivered to. They want me to call the shipping company called Hermes to help track this down. Uh – no. This shouldn’t turn into a serious problem for me; I just hope that it doesn’t result in some hassle that makes me need to call ebay, which I’ve never had to do before for GSP.
Daysi, I’m with you on this one, for several reasons. 1) I think about all the thousands of people working just at the 3 tech companies I used to work for, bringing in high salaries, and then multiply that by thousands, and you get a ton of middle to upper middle class people with plenty of money to spend. 2) It’s not something I can control or do anything about – other than keep listing. 3) I don’t find it fun or helpful (to me) to keep track of week-to-week or even month-to-month trends in terms of buying volume. I’m the same way with the stock market – I’m an index fund person, not a day trader.
I have used GSP for several years now, including this entire year. I like it a lot. I don’t recall ever having any problems with those sales (though I’ve probably jinxed myself by saying that). As far as countries closing borders – I haven’t given that any thought. My job is to get the item to KY – the rest is not my problem, and so far ebay hasn’t tried to make it my problem.
Welcome! Thanks for sharing your story. Glad to hear that things have improved a lot for you compared to last year – you put the work in and got results.
I live in a rural area mostly without trash pickup (you have to bring it to the dump yourself), but I have sold stuff I’ve found in free piles at the sides of the road. Last summer I found a bottle of vintage Ralph Lauren Chaps cologne (barely used) in one of these free piles and it sold for around $60. FREE is the best price!
