Mike,
Thanks for reminding me of Linda Shields’ packing tip with the styrofoam plates! My only question is – if you’re adding so much space between plates and then packing 2 or more bundles of plates into the same package, isn’t that exterior box end up being really big? Like over the priority mail dim weight threshold? Are your customers willing to pay the resulting super high shipping prices for these huge packages?Sonia
welcome!
03/23/2018 at 10:50 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: CB base station, LL Bean hunting jacket, Lucchese boots, Watch Clock, Speakers, Pipe stand, Camera case, Vintage Doorbell #36033thanks for the packing pointers, Sharyn. I remember watching those videos of Sheldon’s a while back. I think I have boxes that will fit the bubble wrapped china, but I think I need to hunt around to find some bigger boxes to serve as the outer box. Want to have this ready before listing.
I’m really confused. I never use the mobile friendly checker, and my listings seem fine. The print in the description is very small, but no smaller than that of the other fields in the listing. And when I click on “read more”, the description comes up in a print size that is slightly bigger. Is this not the case for other people? Is everyone else using mobile-friendly checker all the time?
I just tried the checker on a random listing, and it seemed to have found some viewport issue that I told it to fix, and now my listing looks no different than it did before.
I do all my listing on a laptop. Just viewed them now on my iphone 6
yikes!
Yeah, when I found a Dale of Norway sweater once I was so excited but I decided to look it up anyway, and was extremely surprised that most of them don’t sell for very much.
I LOVE your multi-color mugs find/sale!Sharyn,
Based on your recent sales reports on the Dansk ivy pattern china, I spotted some plates from that set recently and knew to get them – for about $1 a piece. Haven’t listed them yet b/c I haven’t sold china before and I’m scared of packing, but I should be able to make a decent profit once I do. So thanks!03/22/2018 at 12:48 am in reply to: Upgraded Store, 7 Day Listings, 100% Promoted, 24 hour sales, and Best Offer. #35826Just following up to report that the customer service rep’s request did work, and I got a credit $18.92, the exact amount I had spent on promoted listings! Wow. Sometimes fixes do come fairly quickly. It’s just easy to get discouraged when the rep didn’t seem to understand what I meant by promoted listings at first. 🙂
No plans to do it anytime soon or ever. If I did, I would just raise my prices to cover the cost of shipping. I don’t think the push for Free Shipping is anything super new – I think Ebay has been pushing it for several years now.
You don’t have to have free returns to stay Top Rated. You only need free returns to stay Top Rated Plus.
I’m not Top Rated Plus and don’t spend any time worrying about it. So far it doesn’t seem to have impacted my sales. I guess I’ll see if lack of free returns hurts me or not.

Just called ebay and rep “put in a request” to get me my credit.
Hmm.. I’ve heard that before (on other things). But maybe it will work this time!
🙂03/20/2018 at 8:40 pm in reply to: Upgraded Store, 7 Day Listings, 100% Promoted, 24 hour sales, and Best Offer. #35700Do you get your promoted listings ad fee credits in the same month as the charges are incurred, or the next month? Is it clearly labelled as being a credit related to promoted listings?
In my February invoice, I was charged $3.30 in promoted listings fees, with no credits.
In my March invoice, I was given a “Miscellaneous credit” of $4.62, and was charged $15.62 in ad fees.
So I’m thinking that I’ll get credit for the $15.62 in the next invoice?Maybe it’s time to call ebay.

6 very full garbage bags of packing peanuts – FREE!
As a bonus, these seem to be the eco-friendly decomposable kind! Which unfortunately means they’re not as sturdy as the traditional styrofoam peanuts, but that is an okay tradeoff for me.Found those on facebook marketplace. May turn into a regular deal. yay!
I often lowball people when out garage sale-ing, so I try to remember that when I get lowball offers on ebay. Would you consider the low offer rude if it came with a note that said: “Hey, I know my offer is super low compared to your asking price, but it’s what I’m willing to spend on this item right now. Totally understand if you say no, but I had to try just in case. Respectfully, Nice Buyer.”
I try to assume that every offer comes with such a note attached even if there isn’t one. Makes me happier and less aggravated.
#4 and then forget about it
“Seller Health representatives there to answer all of your questions and concerns.”
Are they starting to offer health care benefits to ebay sellers now? 😉
Now *that* could be a good incentive to offer free returns. 🙂
