I bought a pair of Brooks Ghost 8 Running shoes (worn 3 times). I had a pair given to me before and wore them out walking and hiking.
These retail for up to $150.00, but can usually be found on Ebay for about $100 including shipping.
I bought mine at auction for $22 plus $13 shipping. You got to love auctions.
What a variety of cars and vehicles. Great responses by everyone.
I considering getting a used van and am thinking about an old Ford Aerostar van, strictly for hauling.
Around here they are pretty cheap.
They have a 6 cylinder engine, so the fuel mileage won’t be horrible. They are rear wheel drive drive, so they should be more durable and cheaper to repair. They also seem to go last long time if treated right.
They are a tad bigger than a lot of minivans, but not quite a full sized van.
I’m probably keeping my station wagon, so I don’t need the perfect everyday vehicle.
Do any of you have any experience with this van. They were last made in 1997. Most of the information online has been positive. The biggest complaint has been ride and comfort. That’s not a big deal to me.
Thanks
There is a local company that sells the huge rolls of bubble wrap for a reasonable price. At first, I didn’t want to spend the money, but it is just so convenient and takes up such little space that it’s a homerun.
I get a discount if I buy them four at a time for $88.00 total out the door. Last time I did this, I resold two of them for $35 each. My net cost was $18 for 1500 sq feet plus gas and time.
I also have a dedicated shipping area. It’s a must if you’re dealing with volume and anything other than small easy items.
Yes, selling large or oversize items, is clearly a choice.
The more often you cut and resize boxes, the better you’ll be at it.
I used a metal straight edge (1/2 of a yardstick) and a small pairing knife. I resize a lot of boxes, sometimes just to save my packing materials.
New boxes are the easiest to work with and store. Having known sizes also means you don’t have to go on the hunt, searching and checking.
I buy cheap packing tape in bulk, so how much I use, is never an issue.
Whenever possible, I use newspaper to pack with, but have a variety of supplies, bubble wrap, stretch wrap styrofoam etc. They all take up space.
Life is about choices..
Good Luck
I’d put something in the picture next to it for scale, like maybe a baseball. I’d also take a picture of it sitting on a scale, with the digital readout visible. You really can’t rely on buyers to read the detail part of the listing.
Good luck with it.
Well, I received the shoes back from buyer one. I could have used an Ebay label to send the correct ones, but I think I would have ended up with a late shipping defect. I ended up paying retail and sent her the shoes she ordered. I sent the tracking number through Ebay messages.
Once the tracking showed delivered, I called Ebay and they closed the return case in my favor.
Buyer two was very happy to repurchase the shoes I had sent to buyer one in error.
Done is Done.. Lesson learned by me.
I would put the size in the title and and also in the condition report. If I weren’t specifically looking for it, I would have never seen it.
Another great find..
The Transaction rate allowed to keep your Top rated seller status is a very small number. Based on 179 sales, you can’t even have one.
Good Luck.
I believe the transaction defect rate is for a year, not 3 months.
My Advice is raise your prices and take more pictures.
Hats are easy to photograph, but you should have at least eight pictures.
Everyone who makes their first big haul gets overwhelmed. Unless storage is an urgent concern, I wouldn’t get too excited about it.
If you think it was a mistake and this isn’t for you, you can always list the cream of the crop and unload the rest..
The answer to your questions have more to do with your business model, than anything else. You made what looks like a great score..
Great Find.. Good Luck.
Ok Thanks, that’s great information. The Ebay rep was not very helpful at all.
I was hoping to do the same thing, send the replacement once the return gets scanned. I’m trying to keep the buyer (1) happy, but I get the impression she doesn’t trust Ebay and thinks some type of “Bait and Switch” was done. As a result, I’m going slow.
Buyer 2 has now contacted me and is much more knowledgeable, regarding Ebay. She’s happy to accept whichever pair is available when Buyer 1 is resolved. Buyer 2 has been refunded, so there’s no urgency there.
Life is interesting…
Update.. Buyer one wants to return the wrong (better) pair of shoes for the correct ones. I instructed her to initiate a return and I would accept.
Per Ebay rep. Accept return.. receive return.. Go to post Office to get return label and send out correct shoes. (Doesn’t sound right to me?)
What happens if you select option to offer customer identical item? Do I still get the original back. The Ebay rep couldn’t answer this question. She couldn’t tell me what happens if I select it.
I gave up with Ebay rep and accepted return. Since return was initiated, how do I show Ebay I sent out correct shoes? or do I have to refund and list shoes again? Thanks.
Great points..
For us in the states, the weight isn’t so big an issue, if it fits in a Flat Rate envelope or box.
Also for cheaper like items.. bundle bundle bundle. I’d rather sell 4 items together for $30, than 4 separate $10 items.
The Goodwill Outlets are where the bins are. I may not have made it clear. You can Google it. There’s one up in Los Angeles. I’ve never been to that one.
They are the exact same style and exact same size 8.5 AAA, otherwise it wouldn’t have happened. They even look the same in the pictures. I generally make it a point to put items this similar in separate storage containers.
I marked the bag with the damaged ones, but never thought to mark the other ones to remind me there was an identical pair around. If I sold the good ones first, this wouldn’t have happened.
Yes, the SKU tags would prevent all of this.. I’m just not there yet.
I’m not going to worry about the defect.. one defect isn’t a big deal.
I appreciate the kind words..
