Thanks for the clarification on “bins”, I don’t know if I could handle it. I barely make it through estate sales when the owner was a hoarder. I went to a house FULL to overflowing with dolls last week and another house FULL of glass and ceramics. It can be overwhelming.
Jay I am just listening now to the podcast: you might have thought of this already but a friend of mine has been house sitting. She gets to live for free in these amazing homes for several weeks and all she has to do is watch the dog or make sure the garden is watered. She gets to go skiing and do her artwork. She loves it because she is not nailed down and she gets to travel.
Just my contribution to your scavenger vacation ideas!
Good job! And it does get easier! I thought it never would but lately I have been doing much better than I expected to. We just started about 7 months ago.
I would give them a chance to respond in this case. They might have had issues that you are not aware of and it is a 200.00 sale. A buyer with a good record, I would let it ride little extra. I would send another personal note just letting them know that you are looking forwardi shipping the item once they complete the transaction. Don’t give ultimatums or sound upset or threatening. I usually say that if they don’t complete the transaction I am unable to relist the item until I open an unpaid item case and that might hurt their ratings, which you are trying to avoid.
Thank you Terri. (c:

Hi Joe, thank you for your comment on the What Sold section.
Yes, things have loosened up lately and I am feeling very encouraged. You have been a HUGE help in raising my confidence and helping me understand how to sell books. I sell books every week now. Those magazines I was talking about in the other thread, SOLD! This guy from Thousand Oaks wanted nearly all of them and we made a deal for 300.00. I go to Porter Ranch anyway for shopping, it’s about half way between Thousands Oaks and my house, so he and I met up yesterday and I gave him the mags. And I got them for free! They are very specific by the way so if you ever see them they are called Mountain Bike Action. It was just a lucky find, I believe, but be on the look out.
Also, just a tip, in case you are not already familiar with this, but Letgo has a free section and I find that I don’t get as much competition there from others who are looking for the free stuff.
Thanks for being there, I cannot say how much I have appreciated your help.
Could someone clarify for me what “bins” are? I am in Los Angeles and I don’t recall ever seeing bins in local Goodwill stores. Are they just those like big baskets on wheels? What is in them?
So to finish this thread, I ended up donating the photos to the Santa Ana History Room which collects historic items related to this Marine Corps Air Station.
They were very excited about these photos. I figured that they were not worth much out there in the market and if they were so important to preserve, I would much rather they went to the library.
And they all lived happily ever after.
The end!
To complete this thread, wanted to share that 36 mags sold for $300.00! Here is the link.
(It is a simple listing because I made it especially for this fellow. So it has no bells and whistles on it. Just the basic stuff.)
In incorporated your suggestions and all together it came out really great!
