Oh Boy, TSatt. I think you went under that bus and didn’t come out the other side.
I recall getting my first free email address in the mid to late 90s with Yahoo (I still use it although that company is getting dated as well), so you didn’t need to pay for email even in the year 2000. Oh, I’m sure there was an advantage to paying at that time.
I didn’t even know that Earthlink was still a company.
This is a great idea. I’m not sure that I personally could pull it off at this point, but something for me to think about in the future.
Did the bar charge you for holding the event at their venue? How many items did you have in total?
@Inglewood – I’ve heard great things about U of T. I just hope my daughter stops with all the drama about what college to go to. Things like this are never black and white, and there isn’t a “best” choice.
US colleges are, in general, very expensive. Some are ridiculously pricey. My daughter was accepted to a special program at Boston University with a $75,000 per year cost. She decided against that one quickly.
To me, U of T appears to be cheap for Canadian residents, but comes in mid-range for the US. It will be more expensive than the option she initially chose, but really not that bad.
I haven’t been to Toronto since I was a kid. We did visit Montreal and Quebec City about 3 or 4 years ago. In general, Canadian cities are just cleaner than the US cities, and Toronto is supposed to be a happening sort of place.
Here are some forum posts from our friends in Canada:
By the way, I’m going to be in Toronto for this coming long weekend. My daughter had committed to a college here in the US, but is having second thoughts. We will be looking at the University of Toronto where she has been accepted, but never visited.
So, with the new shipping page, you can’t buy labels as you go along and then print out a scan sheet when you are ready for your carrier? I thought that was the whole idea of that new function. Doesn’t make sense.
I still am old school and go back to the old eBay shipping page where I have to buy all the labels at once.
I have tried once or twice to use their new shipping page for more than one package. After I buy the labels, I go to make the scan sheet. eBay displays a message saying to wait for all the labels to be purchased before creating the scan sheet. This makes me think that you can continue to add labels (at least ones from eBay) until you are ready to print out a final one.
I’m not sure how that works because I haven’t used it. Maybe there is an article in their help database? Maybe google it? Last resort, call eBay and ask.
Those are also the color of Ethiopia’s flag, and I think many other African countries.
Rastafarians certainly have a unique look!
I listed 12 items this week. Not much, but I am so happy to have rewired three vintage bar lights that have been in my deathpile for over 1 1/2 years (I bought them in August 2017). I know I’ve mentioned them on this post before. I have some final work that needs to be completed, and then I hope to list them this week.
Good sales to everyone! I have a long weekend trip coming up and some outside of eBay activities, so this week should be low listing numbers again.
Week of May 12 – 18
* Total Items in Store: 1372, eBay, 3 Etsy
* Items Sold: 23 eBay
* Cost of Items Sold: $21.75 + $5 Commission
* Total Sales: $448.89
* Highest Price Sold: $60 Large funky hand thrown pottery vase
* Average Price Sold: $19.52
* Returns: 1 item was damaged, refunded without shipping back
* Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $0
* Number of items listed this week: 12Things to do list: Finally rewired 3 vintage bar lights from my deathpile; almost finished with them.
Actually had a decent week for me. I’ve been sort of not in sync with others on the forum lately; having bad weeks when everyone is doing well and vice versa.
I’m trying to catch up on backlog/deathpiles, so I haven’t been scavenging lately. Garage sales are in full swing, but I haven’t bothered. My daughter is graduating high school next month, so I’ve also been pretty busy with outside stuff.
I listed it using what descriptive words I could. Picked a price of $22 out of thin air.
Looks like the Wiki table had more of the letters than the Google translate keyboard. A number of the letters look similar, so there might be one or two that aren’t exactly correct.
I’ll use “Ethiopia 2000” as key words. The buyer will need to know what it means.
I really appreciate your help with this!
I tried working with Google Translate using Amharic to English. Their little keyboard didn’t have all the letters shown on the scarf. Using the closest that I could figure out, I came up with this:
አትድዊኢንግም 2000
maybe this link will work as well:
https://translate.google.com/#view=home&op=translate&sl=am&tl=en&text=%E1%8A%A0%E1%89%B5%E1%8B%B5%E1%8B%8A%E1%8A%A2%E1%8A%95%E1%8C%8D%E1%88%9D%202000What it translated to was “Adjustment 2000”. I don’t think that I would use this translation in my listing, but I think I can at least say that it is Amharic or similar. It probably is related to the year 2000.
Thanks for all these ideas. I have some work to do.
05/16/2019 at 1:59 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Ferrari drawing, Bread drawer liner, Navy trucker hat, Old perfume, Lamps, 70’s Panasonic Stereo #62016I should have mentioned that the Bavarian Elk platter went to Canada. Makes sense.
I usually don’t mind. At least they are communicating with me. I have an issue with someone sho buys something, doesn’t pay, and doesn’t say anything.
But $2.90 plus shipping? I’d be annoyed with that.
