The majority of my inventory (at least the stuff that isn’t given to me for free) is from auctions, so, thankfully, I can say that I sell online and no one cares.
However, when I have shopped at garage sales, my main go-to is the last on your list. “These aren’t for me; I’m shopping for other people”.
If you go into your Purchase History, there will be a pull down menu next to the item. See what options you have. Canceling might be one.
I do think that First Class has a size restriction.

Apple provides a Mac utility called Numbers that is a simpler spreadsheet program. I’m not sure whether you can download it for free or if you would have to use the online version.
10/22/2019 at 9:03 am in reply to: Ebay / Xerox VeRO-d me and I need some insight and advice? HELP!!! #69414Usually, when a VERO is discussed here on the forum, the general consensus is to find another website to sell it on. When someone has relisted the item that they were told not to sell, that is when suspensions happen.
eBay will look at addresses, both physical and computer, to determine that you and your wife are connected, so I’m not sure whether that would be a good idea. I mean, it might be OK, but I can’t really say.
You do have the correct idea in listing it without the brand name in the title or item specifics.
Maybe Facebook Marketplace?
10/21/2019 at 8:16 pm in reply to: eBay Not Collecting Sales Tax When It Says It Will & Partial Return Glitches #69398Once eBay started collecting tax for my state, I stopped seeing any tax information.
If you go to your orders page, click on the pull-down menu in front of a sale, and click on “view record”. It will give a breakdown on what the buyer paid. It has the following statement in the line for tax “Sales tax (eBay collected)**”. In states that don’t require tax payment, there is just a 0.
I was able to find a form for NJ “Request to be placed on a non-reporting basis for sales and use tax”. I meant to fill it out earlier, but I ended up reporting zero tax for the third quarter. I will submit it now because I don’t want to keep reporting nothing.
I haven’t had an issue with refunds lately, so I can’t help you there.
I started once trying to label bins and start an inventory system, but never stuck with it. This week, I couldn’t find a jacket that had sold. Looked everywhere at least three times. Then, I couldn’t find a cardigan sweater. I figured I had donated a bag of listed clothing by mistake. I filtered my listings by date to see what else I might have donated, and I saw those two items right above a bunch of costumes. So, I go look in the bin that was supposed to be only costumes, and, yeh, there they were. The jacket was already canceled, oh well.
So, I’ll skip on the inventory discussion. Don’t take advice from me!!
On another note, my sales didn’t seem to be affected by all the eBay issues going on. Not sure why. I even had a few clothing items sell after all the problems started to show up.

I decided that I wanted to get rid of a large inventory of new pants I had bought at a liquidation auction. I had sold maybe a dozen or so over a year or more, and several were returned for fit. On Monday, I took them to a “drive-up” auction. This auction is set up so that you arrange your wares and an auctioneer walks around and sells it off. I didn’t understand the whole setup, so I came late and was the last one he came to. One guy said he would buy it, but he needed me to drive it over the next day. He lived one town over, so no problem. I made a measly $10 from the bid, and the buyer gave me another $10 to add some of his other stuff to the load. I didn’t pay that much for the pants, so I might be just even in the end. I’ll use GoDaddy to figure out what COGS I haven’t accounted for yet and put that in as a loss. What I gained was shelf space, YAY!In other news, I listed a bunch of my whiskey pitchers on Etsy. I’ve been ignoring that site because eBay is my main focus, and I just want to list. However, I already have over 35 pitchers & bottles listed there and I wanted to spread them out. The rest of the pitchers will go to storage until enough are sold off (could be a year or more).
Lastly, I told my husband about a car-related auction (happened yesterday), and he found some strut compressors that he wanted in the online photos, so we went. He would point out a box he found interesting and how much he would pay for it, and then I did the bidding. I did get him the compressors along with a bunch of other stuff, some that he will keep and some that I will sell. The really great thing about it was that he met some of the people & auctioneers I talk about, and he experienced the dynamic. I was fun to rehash everything, and he seemed more interested in what happens when I go to all these auctions. It was just a great experience to share that with him.
I’ve had to focus on listing, and I’ve left organizing and other stuff off to the side. New listed stuff goes to the floor in the basement. I don’t even want to spend the time to put it away.
My daughter decided to take a look at the cameras that I haven’t had a chance to list, and she asked if she could have a cheap 35 mm still in its wrapper. So, that was one.
I had an old iMac where I had removed the hard drive and had the screen as a separate piece. I had thought to list it as is, but couldn’t figure out how I’d ship it. Did I need to protect it from static electricity? Did it still have sensitive information in the RAM? So, off to the recycling center it went. I did list the power cord.
Anyway, those with a few other items brings it to about four since I first reported my numbers. I know that I have a few books that never made it to freecycling, so I’ll get those out of the way and meet the 31 minimum items somehow!
I listed 47 items this week, which included 34 whiskey pitchers.
This group of pitchers I listed on Etsy where I only had three listings previously. I figured I’d list the pitchers in two different sites for better coverage. The rest will go into storage for when a good number have been sold or when I find another site I want to post to.
This week I work on items I obtained at two other auctions since I bought the whiskey pitchers. I still have the radios to work on and stuff from a family friend (on commission), so I really have a huge backlog. I’m not calling them deathpiles yet because I have’t had them for that long, but I really need to stop buying inventory!!!!

10/20/2019 at 8:16 pm in reply to: Condition and photo's not showing when publishing product to other marketplaces #69332Are you publishing something to a group on Facebook Marketplace, and then publishing it to another group? There are only a few people here who sell on Facebook, so you might want to ask a site that is specific to selling on Marketplace (probably a Facebook group).
I’ve taken eBay listings and posted them to Facebook with no problems, but I’ve never gone beyond that.
I am able to flip though the photos and see both the full painting as well as the close up. I think with Imgur you have to copy the link for a single photo instead of the full page if you just want to show one.
Anyway, I can’t answer your question on the painting. It kind of looks like one of those French paintings of the moulin rouge.
I think that the note “this item sold on x% sale” has been around for about a month, so it’s pretty new.
I’ve noticed a glitch that’s been ongoing for awhile, and I’m wondering whether other people have noticed it or not. Sometimes, when I edit a listing or copy it to create a new one, the condition statement disappears.
I’ve have noticed more recently that I can save the listing with the condition statement not there, but, when I look back, it has reappeared.
I think it happens more with vintage dishware and such.
Today, I sold a Stangl butter plate that I’ve had for years, and the condition statement was blank. Stangl tends to have many minor imperfections, and this one was no different. Hopefully, the buyer looked through all the photos to see what they are getting.
These are pretty awesome! I’m going to upload one of these later. I think I like the dark background best.
In case you need it later, here is how to post photos to the forum:

We are in the 50F to 69F range right now.
I recently purchased a few large lot of whiskey pitchers and bottles for practically no money. I think each comes to about $0.25. This was my first sale. I kind of expected it would be since most of the brands are from Scotland, but the Southern Comfort pitcher was the one that was from the US. Sold for $16.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183982411849Another free item from one of my parents’ friends, three NWT Dockers pants for $36.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183947615330Here’s a vintage doll that I bought in an auction lot. Paid maybe $1. I listed as a “cranky baby doll” because of the look on its face. It was unmarked, so the body might have been handmade and then integrated with the face and hands.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183810398300Another coat from an upscale brand, but not in great condition. Still managed to get $29, paid about $1.50.
