I was imagining a leather working tool where it would put holes for the thread. But, I’m not sure what object would be in that shape. Maybe it was for one part of a larger thing? Just a guess.
I accidentally ran into this feature a few days ago. Whatever photo I was looking at had two items. It automatically whited out the background except for the area in between the two things. When I tried fixing it manually, some parts of the item were whited out. So, it didn’t work properly for whatever I was listing at the moment. Maybe there’s a zoom feature that would help? I haven’t tried it again.
Sometimes I use white poster board for the background, which gets dirty especially when I’m photographing old dusty items (even if I dusted them off). I can see this feature being useful because I push to use the poster board for as long as I can.
Maybe also when I photograph larger items in my hallway. I wouldn’t mind getting rid of the doorway or outlet when I absolutely can’t take the photo without them in there.
Otherwise, I see no reason to get rid of a nice wood floor or black background. I’ll have to try it a few more times

Unsold listing indexing and sell-through rate
Aggregate metrics for active listings
Listing report for active listings”Terapeak is going to give us the sell-through rate. You will no longer have to compare solds to unsolds to decide if something is desirable. HOLY COW!!
I have this problem, too, but I received the item and refunded the buyer. It still shows up on mobile, but not on the desktop. Possibly, I deleted the notice after refunding the buyer.

I bought a vintage Detecto baby scale, but what I can find on eBay are all older models. I did find one of the same model, but it is missing the tray. It sold at auction on eBay for $8. The one I have doesn’t work properly, but, still, I don’t see anything similar. I’ve listed it for $59 or best offer. Does anyone want to venture as to whether I’ve priced WAY too high, or if I’m doing the right thing?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/184184954482Week of Feb 16 – 22
* Total Items in Store: 1452 eBay, 34 Etsy
* Items Sold: 20 eBay
* Cost of Items Sold: $32.75 + $16.43 Commission
* Total Sales: $388.80 eBay
* Highest Price Sold: $44 for 1960s Nonworking Zenith Trans Oceanic Royal 3000-1 radio
* Average Price Sold: $19.44
* Returns: 0
* Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $57.50
* Number of items listed this week: 20I went to an auction on Thursday. I bought a wood walking stick for $5, but they accidentally charged me $50. I did not include the extra amount in the “money spent on new inventory” above assuming that they fix the problem quickly. There is no way that I bid $50. I had to pay the bill, and they will refund me the money after they check their video.
It’s just annoying because, at the smaller auction in my area, they will immediately fix the problem. It happened to me once, and they watched the video and fixed my bill before I paid.

Second week I’m keeping to my goal. 20 for me.
02/24/2020 at 12:33 pm in reply to: Unhappy buyer messaged “ripoff”: Do I mention the return procedure? #74329Could be that he is seriously pissed, or he could be trying to get a refund. You did what you needed to do as a seller. The only thing now is to wait and see. Hopefully, he will go away.
This happened to me years ago when I was a newish seller. I sold a belt, and he said it was a woman’s belt not a man’s. It had an artsy belt buckle, but he could see the photos as well as anyone. I told him to return it, but first he said he gave it to a coworker. Then he contacted me a couple of weeks later and said that he gave it to a homeless man. In any case, he was trying to get a refund, but I wouldn’t without a return.

02/24/2020 at 10:20 am in reply to: Unhappy buyer messaged “ripoff”: Do I mention the return procedure? #74321I would do #2, tell them that you are sorry that they didn’t understand that the whole system wasn’t included and that you take returns.
While it may result in you having to take the return and pay for shipping, it will show that you were being professional and willing to work with the customer. That may help in removing negative feedback.
02/23/2020 at 8:49 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 451: How Longtail Are You Willing To Go? #74295I also had this problem on Friday. When I couldn’t do the return, I called eBay, and the customer rep asked me whether I had enough money in my PayPal account or not. She made it seem like this was a normal rule and not a glitch. I had recently decided that I wanted the cash back on the credit card, so I had just started to drain my account on a regular basis.
I had needed maybe another $5, so I woke to a $15 sale and was able to do the return.
02/23/2020 at 12:09 pm in reply to: VIDEO: How younger people are buying clothes at second hand shops #74275That was from back in the day; dial up, no photos, old eBay website, etc. But, I guess it paints eBay as the old dinosaur that hasn’t expanded to the latest style of social media type apps.
02/23/2020 at 10:59 am in reply to: VIDEO: How younger people are buying clothes at second hand shops #74270Does it make fun of eBay? The part I saw said that the newer apps resonate more with younger people because they can follow sellers they like. The newer apps are more social, and eBay is less so.
Patagonia is mentioned as a company that left Amazon because of the reselling. I assume they mean people who resell new stuff. I had heard that the company stands behind reselling of their used clothing, am I correct?
I loved the UK accents!
I guess we should be happy with what we get. From what I understand, the USPO is thinking about charging for their supplies.
Excellent! Just sent you a response.
