Did this just happen today? I’ve had one or two cases where the item was scanned as being delivered, but didn’t show up until a few hours later. Or the next day.
I would first wait. After that, contact your post office and/or the seller.
I ended up cancelling the sale and creating a new listing. His email address wasn’t in the PayPal information, and I wasn’t sure whether asking him would be OK per eBay policies.
I did go to create an invoice, but it had to be made from scratch. So, I would have to copy and cut his information into the form. Isn’t there a better way to do it?
I just saw this thread. I subscribe to all the sub-categories on Savenger Life, but, for some reason, I did not get notified on this one.
I think that all the address changes I’ve had have been USPS and were no problem. What did you end up doing with this? Canceling the sale?
03/12/2020 at 11:42 am in reply to: Video cables, Bench Vice, Panasonic Stereo, Vtg Nintendo game, Mustang horn #75040Last week was typewriter week. The first is a 1948 manual one that I bought for about $5 at an estate sale, and sold on offer to a buyer at $61.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184106030135The second is an electric Smith Corona in great shape for $124. This was given to me my one of my parent’s downsizing friends. I kept putting off listing because of the testing part, but it sold in less than two weeks. I listed it higher than others because of its great condition.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184183505662Another whiskey pitcher sold. I purchased a large lot in September, and they’ve been selling little by little. Each cost about 25 cents, and this one is a German gin and sold for $28 to someone in Germany.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/183982842006I recently purchased a number of vintage scales. This one has porcelain plates and is in reasonably nice condition. I paid about $3, and it sold for $50.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184183864468In 2016, my first year of selling, beginner’s luck got me to a yard sale with lots of good stuff. Most has sold by this time, but I still had this tea and dessert set of fine china. It started as two sets I bought together. The first sold to someone in PA, and two pieces broke in shipping. I had been careful in my packing, but not good enough. I modified this listing for local pickup only. Someone in CA bought it and then requested that I ship it to her and that she would pay $50. Since I’ve learned a thing or two since my first attempt, I decided to go ahead when I found I could ship it for $24 through FedEx. It has been delivered, and I haven’t heard anything. Fingers crossed! I paid about $12, and it sold for $40. I don’t buy sets like these any more unless they are going to sell for much more!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184006037603Another vintage Zenith radio from a September purchase. Paid less than $3, sold for $40.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184086576513Because I’m in NJ, and we have several confirmed cases, COVID-19 is starting to affect me. Yesterday, the police announced that one of the cases was from our town. The schools are closed down today and tomorrow for cleaning. My son is in the VoTech, which is a different school district, and his is not closed.
A number of events have been delayed or canceled, and now an organization that I am involved with wants to delay one of our events. Since I manage this event, I’m in the mist of looking at what we can do. We might end up cancelling.
It’s just a crazy time. I’m annoyed, but I know these crazy precautions are necessary.
As far as sales, mine have been pretty good, but this weekend was suddenly very slow. This week has been better, but not gangbusters. On the other hand, I had more items in my “make offer to buyers” list this morning. I expect that sales will be better for a while because of all the crazy stuff going on.
Mike – You could also message the buyer and ask them why they opened a case in PayPal. Maybe they will enlighten you, maybe not. Just stay professional and keep it short.
I agree with Jay – these are great paintings!
An artist friend of mine told me that he switched from working in oils to acrylic because it is easier to work with. It dries quicker, and it is easier to correct mistakes.
I don’t know how to tell the difference. So far, I’ve been told by the previous owner or auctioneer, and I’ve just taken it for granted. I should probably learn myself. If you find a good video, please post it here!
Thanks Antique Frog! Hopefully, I don’t have to add a human hand to the deal in order to sell this thing 🙂
Put them on your blocked buyer list. It won’t affect their current purchase, but it won’t let them buy from you again:

I think we should just switch over to daylight savings all year round. There is just no need to screw around with our bodies and heads like this. Time of day is by definition. It isn’t something profound that would be wrong if we were to change it.
I do clean up some of my inventory, especially stuff that is not that old and will probably be used rather than collected. But, yes, I’ve ruined a few things by cleaning them. For instance, brass does not clean well for me. These days, I might wipe brass down, but that is it. I’ve definitely cut back on cleaning after some discussions here on the forum.
I had a really good week with a number of high priced sales. GoDaddy is still including shipping in the sales price, so I estimated it and took it out of my numbers. I also had my first big inventory purchase of the year from a live auction and an online auction, both on Friday.
Week of March 1 – 7
* Total Items in Store: 1457 eBay, 34 Etsy
* Items Sold: 18 eBay, 1 Etsy
* Cost of Items Sold: $47 + $29.40 Commission
* Total Sales: about $700 eBay, $36 Etsy
* Highest Price Sold: $124 Blue Smith Corona electric typewriter
* Average Price Sold: $39 ish
* Returns: 0
* Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $109.25
* Number of items listed this week: 9I managed 9 listings this week. My number is a bit low because I had several sales that required careful packing (taking longer than normal) and a live auction and online auction on Friday.
I have two things to thank Amatino for (other than inspiring us through this thread/challenge). The first is recommending a small, inexpensive photo studio on a different post. I was photographing jewelry (for commission) this past week, and it really helped immensely.
The other is for the cute prize for my 2018 Trash Elf win! I forgot to mention it last week. Since I’m definitely slowing down on the listing (plus the competition is FIERCE this year), I am happy to revel in my past success.
My go-to is to just cut and paste the title. Each listing then has a few sentences regarding my return policy and so on. I have a few situations where I add more info: the item is for parts or repair and does not work, it has significant wear or damage, the item is more pricey and I feel I have to add more, or I have a story or information that I think someone will find interesting and will help sell the item.
I try not to write too much because it slows down the listing process. On the mobile app, you have to click through to see the description, and many people don’t bother.
03/05/2020 at 6:28 pm in reply to: Vintage appliance cord, Electra guitar, Record stand, Slide rule, Playing cards #74792Steve – When you talked about your buyer of the “reactor” being from Italy, and saying that he probably already had his flux capacitor, I was thinking of the corona virus. Maybe he is planning to prevent that from happening 🙂
I recently purchased a number of scales/balances at an auction. Most are pretty old, but this triple beam Ohaus scale is one of the newer ones. It sold in just a few hours, so I can’t help but think I underpriced it at $22. I paid about $3.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184184890233Steve sold a peanuts bobblehead not too long ago, and I sold one too! I got it for free from one of my parents’ downsizing friends, and it sold for $27.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/183904451493I sold another Zenith Trans Oceanic radio that I was unable to test. I’ve ordered a power adapter so that I can test the one last remaining one without a battery compartment. Maybe I should have done that in the first place. I paid about $3, and it sold for $46.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184183351041At the same auction as the scales, I purchased a box lot with a bunch of vintage stuff. It came with a box of ephemera, which had a paperback booklet from 1924 called “The Laws of Ma Chiang”. Ends up that this was what Mahjong was first called in the US, and they held a few conferences in late 1923 to come up with standard rules of the game. The only thing similar I could find on the internet was a hardback book (different, but same subject & year) on sale for $300 on a fancy auction website. I listed mine for $78 or best offer. The next morning, I had an offer for $55, and we agreed on $65. Considering everything I bought in that auction bid, I paid about $1 for it, probably less. Buyer sent me a message saying how happy she was with her purchase.
