I listed 19 items this past week. I did quite a bit of work, but I think it was more organizing.
I did go to a few garage & rummage sales for my challenge last month, so that was successful.
My #5 challenge for this month is “Buy 2-4 higher priced items at auction with lower ROI but higher dollars”. Thing is, I set this goal before I knew that I was going to be working with my neighbor and selling on commission from him. Nevertheless, I think it is a good goal, and I will try out a few auctions this month.
Steve – I had no idea of those counter checks. I’ll have to ask my parents if they remember doing that. They would have been in school or college in the 50s, so they might not have ever used one.
Not a great week for sales, but here are a few:
I tried using a epilator when they came out, but they were too painful for me. Apparently, not everyone feels that way. This vintage one sold for $33.

I’m mentioning this antique bowl not so much for its uniqueness, but because of my kinda weird (maybe novice) buyer. She asked for a price to ship this and a ring, so I looked at the address in France and came up with a $35.20 price using Pirate Ship simple export rate plus insurance. The address had a company name that looked like a freight forwarding place, no big deal. She tried to pay, but was having problems. She sent me a screenshot to show me her issue, and she was trying to ship it to an address in Florida. Who doesn’t know that $35 is a bit much to ship a 4 pound item along the east coast? So, I explained the problem, she set the address to the correct one, and I was able to give her an $11.70 shipping cost. She told me a story about the French address being her sister’s, and then she asked me not to put an invoice in the box. Some sellers are weary of freight shippers, so she didn’t me to know.
This sale is not all that interesting except that Jay said that I wouldn’t get that much for it. I said that I was hoping for around $30, and it sold for $32.

Perhaps, I haven’t actually used these products myself.
From reading other posts, I was under the impression that SixBit would upload your eBay listings and then you could cross post to other sites with some minor modifications.
Again, I don’t have any first hand experience. Since I have a part time job, it isn’t worth my money to try to get a higher volume. I hope someone who uses SixBit, or another cross posting app, will chime in.

I’ve done this a few times this year based on the discussions here on the forum. One thing I have to watch out for is my multiple quantity items. If I have three of something and one sold, and then I decide to end and sell similar, the new listing will show the original quantity of three. But then I will only have two in inventory.
Before I end, I have to look through each listing and write down quantities.
Does anyone know of a simpler way to sell similar with the old quantity?
This issue is multiplied when I have a listing with variations. For instance, I don’t think I will ever sell similar for this listing:

Pretty decent week as I had two sales over $100 and one over $50. However, all but 3 sales were commissions, so my COGS are high.

Number of items listed this week: 31@mark-s – I don’t have any personal experience, but, from what I’ve heard on the forum here, it will be much cheaper to sign up with SixBit or List Perfectly. I know a few people here use SixBit, and I think it costs $20-$30/month.
Steve – I am surprised that you were able to give your address to the buyer before he paid. eBay usually detects an address or phone number. Good sale! I love those old tube radios, but I never try to fix them.
Two weeks ago, I sold a carved wood cane from Jamaica for an offer of $15. I hated that price, but I’ve had it in my inventory for several years. Then the buyer never paid, and it relisted. It sold last week for the full price of $28. I’m happy.

This is an electronic organizer that I sold as a commission for my neighbor at $79. He bought it, but never used it. I’ve learned to mention for any battery operated electronics that the batteries are most likely dead because of the age.

This engineering textbook was in a box of stuff a neighbor was throwing out. I sold it for an offer of $18. I find that older technical books can sell well, at least better than other general textbooks.
I usually post my interesting sales with Steve’s video post each week, but I had one that I wanted to show right away. Not a huge sale, but it was for a show called For All Mankind on Apple TV. I was given a FedEx label, so I got to keep the shipping income. I have sold to other prop companies, but I don’t always know the show it will be used in.
This wood box is Soviet/Ukrainian, and it is one of my commission sales. Not to the neighbor I’ve been talking about in my Numbers posts, but another widower that I’ve been working with for several years.

I did go to some garage sales this weekend, which was my challenge for this month. I’m glad that my challenge happened to coordinate with an uptick in garage sales in general.
I haven’t been to an auction for a while due to my commission sales for my neighbor’s stuff. Auction prices start to go up around this time of the year due to the holidays and usually don’t settle down until Feb/Mar. Maybe I’ll be done with my neighbor’s stuff by then. He is buying a house in an active adult community but will own two houses while he gets the new one move in ready.
I did go to a few garage/rummage sales. One was in my town, and they were/are emptying a home of a former flea market seller. I bought a few tea pots and added to my growing glass measuring cup collection. I don’t know why I am collecting them, but I am. On Sunday, I went to a town having a township wide garage sale event. During my walking around, I found someone giving stuff away for free. I grabbed a few things including some vintage 50s recording wire, which I just learned about in Steve’s video a week or two ago.
Anyway, decent enough week of sales. My commission sales are starting to dominate.

Personally, I got nothing. Just clothing I’m selling on commission for my neighbor and a few low value odds and ends from my own inventory. My two interesting sales were cancelled. I know I’ll have something for next week.
Yes, I was also “added” in last week. The lack of automatic selections for required item specifics is the biggest issue. I assume the software is still in development, and it will eventually be rolled back out.
Another annoyance I ran into: if you adjust and save a photo, but later decide you wanted it in the original format, you cannot undo it. In the old tool, you could change your mind, at least before you posted it, but now you have to delete it and re-upload the original.
