@Almasty – For fresh meats, I’ve been using the meal delivery company Every Plate. If you are interested, I’ll set up a separate post on the forum, and I’ll figure out a way to send you a $40 coupon via email. They send you all the ingredients for three meals for 2 or 4 people with recipe cards. The coupon would get you a free week for two people or more than half off for four people.
I’m at the point in the month where my listings are going above my 1000 allotted for a premium store. So, I should not be charged for the listings that renew to the end of the March. Then, the same thing should happen towards the end of April.
The world is certainly crazy, and it changes by the day. My high school aged son is in the second week of online school, and my college aged daughter just started today. NJ announced the closure of non-essential businesses this Saturday.
So, with just the weirdest timing ever, I will be starting a new job at the end of this week or beginning of next. Granted the whole process started in November last year (or was it October?), but I feel strange starting something when others are hurting. On the other hand, we’ve been hurting since 2014 when I lost my job. It’s really a good position, so I’m excited to get back and keep eBay on the side. I’ll be part time in the beginning.
eBay slowed down drastically for me, and I sold all lower value items, but it has picked up a bit since the weekend. On Saturday, I sold several partially full spools of elastic to a lady who is planning to make masks for a hospital. She is also in NJ, a little over an hour drive from me.
Week of March 15 – 21
* Total Items in Store: 1480 eBay, 37 Etsy
* Items Sold: 12 eBay
* Cost of Items Sold: $9.50 + $20.50 Commission
* Total Sales: $199.35 eBay
* Highest Price Sold: $29 Lot partial spools of elastic
* Average Price Sold: $16.61
* Returns: 0
* Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $0
* Number of items listed this week: 34I have been using this company:
https://ghalys.com/They sold on eBay at one time, but moved off because of the fees. I gave this link elsewhere on this forum, and one other seller said that he was happy with the quality and fast shipping. I made another purchase about two or three weeks ago, and I’m happy with their products.
Yup, I just finished up myself. I definitely had a better week because we are all cooped up at home with no place to go. I listed 34 this week.
The online company MaxSold closed all my local auctions as NY, PA, and then finally NJ announced a “shelter in place”. One of the live auction companies I use announced that they were delaying their March auction to April and making it online, but that was before NJ’s shelter in place. The other auction house I use had an April 3 event planned, but I’m sure that will be delayed.
This is a good time for me to go through my stuff and sell some of it on eBay. It is something that I have been planning for a while, so I think the time is now. It also prevents me from spending money on inventory. I still have some backlog to list as well.
I just sold several spools of elastic to someone who is going to make masks for a local hospital. That’s certainly a pandemic related sale!
I do have a number of sewing related listings that might see better action in the next month or so.
My sales slowed down last weekend, and I’ve only been selling about one low value item a day. I don’t really have unlisted inventory that might be considered good for our current situation, so I’m listing for when we get out of this craziness.
It kind of looks like a K and a C, which makes me think of the Knights of Columbus. It isn’t their logo, but maybe a local event?

Both of these fabrics are very nice and are sure to sell well. I think that the listings are nicely done. The only comment I have is that the price that comes up is $5, and, unless you select a yard, you don’t realize that the price is for a sample only. I wonder if there is a way to get the $22.50 price for a yard to come up first?
I have not run into this, but I can at least say what I would do in this case.
I would tell him that you are unable to authorize a return or refund from a different username that what was used to buy the item. However, if they were to ship the item back, you will refund using the original buyer. If they used a credit card, it will come back to them as a credit.
I would think that he should have an email from eBay from when he bought the item. Even though it is a guest account, he still had to give an email address. He should search for that email, and it might have a link where he could go and request a return.

Great question, actually! Here is how I identified it as a prayer rug:
I had no clue, but the collective hive here helped out!
After looking for this thread, I see I actually bought it a full year ago and not several months as I stated above.
03/19/2020 at 2:31 pm in reply to: Pioneer stereo, Empty Hewlett-Packard box, Picnic plates, Seth Thomas clock #75301I had a few good sales last week. I can see that I might not have much to talk about next week, though.
I paid $23 for this small prayer carpet at an auction several months ago. I paid more than I would normally, but it was a great size and color. It sold for $106.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/183764613145Another vintage balance scale sold from a purchase at an auction last month. Paid about $3, sold for $50.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184189013926I bought a bunch of stuff from a tool online auction a week or two ago. I bought this frequency meter for the minimum bid of $5. Sold on a $35 counteroffer from an offer to watchers.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184206706729I bought this artwork from an online auction about three years ago. Not my style, but I thought it was pretty cool. Over the past few years, I’ve reduced the price, added make offer, and added the words Steampunk and Industrial. I had a question regarding whether the fish would come off easily, but, as I wrote back, I had pre-packed this item and couldn’t easily check it out. I was a relatively new seller at the time, and I was concerned about getting the packing right. I saw that it was on the offer to watchers list, so I sent one and he countered with $80. It was the same person who had asked the question earlier. I paid $10, so it is still a good sale.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184006014998I live in NJ, and I can confirm that eBay is collecting and remitting taxes here. I thought that other sellers from Texas said that they were covered by eBay. I’m thinking this might be a glitch unless you signed up for some kind of special business account.
So, yeh, since you feel a bit uncomfortable with this sale, I recommend priority shipping especially since the cost is covered.
