04/18/2017 at 10:11 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 306: We Love Flea Markets and Craigslist #16735I just had a red bull hat that sold new without tags for $25.
I think rb is very popular I had 1 person ask me to lower the price then the next day it sold fp.
Most of my hats sell in the 14.95-18 range but after looking them up I raised the price.
It was up for about 2 weeks and I had no issues with VERO. The inside of the tag clearly showed that is was an authentic RB hat.
I’ve had plenty of New Era hats though New Era was not in the title.
I did have yet a second hat removed for velcro violation. It was an older listing that I forgot to take velcro out of the title. Now I just say adjustable see photos.I’m just beginning but even with my few listings 60 and counting. I’m selling more each month.
Do you think that is because people are watching your site to see the new items coming in?
Do you have a few specialties people look for?
Just trying to figure out the secret sauce.
04/10/2017 at 12:01 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 305: The Biggest Transfer of Wealth in Human History #16358total items in the store 57
(slowly adding to this when I get the free listing offers as I’m only part time)
This week I sold a Vietnam Decorated Army Jacket $50 Cog pd $25 for 2 jackets.
The other one sold a couple of weeks ago a Marine Dress Jacket for $50.I sold a Red Bull Hat I got at the good will $2 (new ) for $25 I noticed rb was popular and this had a red bull inscribed logo on the back buckle and a Cooperstown bb hat for $14.95.
My average price on hats are $15.95 including 1st class shipping. I average about $11-$13 a hat and they do turn around fast if you sell them between $14.95-17.95..Sales are slow but steady on my mug store 50 items.
I sold a porcelain Beatles travel mug today for $16.95
pd $2…slow and steady. Last month I sold 5 mugs average between 14.95-$20.
I think having a dedicated store for mugs/glassware/barware helps the sale.A couple of years ago , I had an issue as a buyer. Large seller of jewelry from India. I bid on several auctions for earrings and was outbid. Each time I was outbid I went to another auction. So I didn’t think about it Naieve. Well after or right before those auctions ended. The “other” bidders retracted the bid that had gone much higher. and I ended up “winning “. This happened over 10 auctions I won! Not 1 or 2. They were shilling their bids. I found several negative responses from other fb left that were similar to me.
EBAY was not much help I’m sure because they were power sellers but I ended up getting them to remove all the winnings so I did not have to purchase anything. Very frustrating.thanks I’ll keep checking on that. its probably from changing category.
That must be it sometimes I change the category when there’s a few that can be used if I’m not getting a lot of traffic.
But adding that info back is a pia.Maybe offer the person who has to ship out shirt a discount on their next purchase ?? percent. As a thank you ?? Or a free shirt valued up to a $$ amount for their understanding??
Yes I do believe it’s original. There’s staining on the box and it looks like it wAs one side of a crate that was taken off. I will take some closer pics but it looks old to me.
Maybe the record player was shipped in a crate?
I would do a buy it now / offer on it and I’m in no rush.
I was thinking $125 bo as a start?Thanks I’ll try that.
03/24/2017 at 1:20 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 302: How to Deal with Dreaded eBay Scammers Lurking Everywhere!! #15237I have done the same thing.
I am now selling hats thanks to this podcast I never would of thought of it and they all eventually sell. I usually find them at the good will for about $2 each. I try to buy only ones that are unworn /or in really good condition. I’ve hand washed a couple with a stain or 2 on it and they came clean.
Does anyone recommend that you declare they are washed when preowned?
I sell free shipping between 14.95-18.95 and they usually move quickly. Of course if I found the $1000 hat I would be ecstatic.I already owned a lot of mugs (mug collector that I am) so I started a second id to just sell mugs and glassware. (I am only part time so I am using my 50 free listings on that site.)
I do sell about 1 or 2 a month so not a big deal and its always interesting to see the random things that do sell.
I do free shipping- bubble wrap then cut up cardboard & “make” my own box then put it in a padded envelope. Usually I can get it under a pound that way so about $4 to ship. When it is heavier I use the usps padded flat rate envelope for 6.50 (just went up in price.) Have not had any break.
Taylor & NG mugs sells look them up
Starbucks do sell though I lowered prices on some
Warner Bros Disney the rarer the better
Tiki mugs
University Glass & mugs
Military Mugs I’ve sold 3 or 4 of them
Random ones I’ve sold: Raytheon Air Traffic controller mug, Zeiss photographic,Trek Bicycle, Amish Mug w a horse buggy & history, CIA mugSorry I haven’t posted a new photo. I put it away in a box and now I can’t find it. I know it’s around. Thanks for all the replies.
Well it is Ryanne your brilliant!
I knew nothing about this before. I found one item on eBay the closest that I have seen.
Wish I could figure out the age. One of my favorite aspects of scavenging is the research and learning the history of items.I also found this page to be interesting when I looked up “imperial standard”
these buttons have those words imprinted on them.

plight.
I recently bought a small magnifier with a light for jewelry and close up items. I was able to make out the top says Imperial and the bottom says standard. above the crown looks like there are possibly 2 letters AA? not sure it’s worn off with age.
An interesting piece to be sure. I’ll have to look into the weights. Oh and it weighs 1.1 ounce. The wheel turns it’s not that. If about 3 1/2 inches long. I’ll take another picture when I get home.
Thank you. -
