I deal with vintage clothing cleaning on a case by case basis. Many clothes starting in the 60s were made with a polyester that is pretty indestructible, so those go into the wash machine. If clothing has yellow/brown stains from age, and they are not silk or wool, I give them a long soak in Oxiclean. Vintage rayon is very risky to clean yourself. I have a suede coat that reeked of cigarette smoke. Hanging it outside for several sunny days did not work. I ended up putting it in a cardboard box, and placed a sock filled with baking soda inside. That did the trick. I have been able to rescue some pretty nasty clothing items. I would love to find a huge estate of vintage clothing like that. Good luck!
I’m not sure if these issues are affecting my sales, but I haven’t had a sale in an entire week. My store is 300 items, a portion are modern and vintage clothes. I average over 400 sales a year, slightly over one per day. This is the first time I had an entire week with no sales. I tried searching for some of my listings and they do appear in the results, and I’m getting views on new listings. This is shaping up to be my worst year ever on eBay since I set up my store.

Cross stitch is definitely a type of embroidery. I’m not so sure if needlepoint is technically considered a type of embroidery. I think of it rather as a type of needlework, for me that would be the broad category for all of these types of crafts.

The handwritten signature off to the side is a bit hard to read for me, but it is definitely not the artist’s signature. It looks like Yamada Machitoshi. Maybe a previous owner’s name.
Thanks for the input Jay and Retro Treasures! I will follow your advice.
Yes, you can post a photo by uploading it to imgur and then pasting the link here. I would guess this was a bespoke sport coat made by a tailor shop in Hyderabad India,
Possibly rosewood? If you google rosewood bowl, there are some that look similar.
The biggest price I ever got for a sewing pattern was not Vogue and not very old. It was Simplicity 5201 Daisy Kingdom apron that sold for $40. (Why? – because someone blogged about it apparently)
Sigilini, another vintage pattern addict here! I sew myself, so I’m really drawn to them. Light and easy to ship, but I can’t restrain myself to just the unused patterns. If the pattern is cut I go through piece by piece to make sure it is complete which eats up a lot of time. I have a growing pile of incomplete patterns that I can’t bring myself to throw out. I’m thinking there must be some artists out there who would like to use the envelope illustrations for collage work and have thought about lotting up just the envelopes to sell. Anyway, vintage patterns bring me a lot of joy if not very much money, so I will probably continue to buy them.
That is a great score! Not sure on the other one. Maybe describe as 1970s unglazed stoneware frog? Has that 70s look to me.
Polymer clay artist Jon Anderson http://www.jonstuartanderson.com/. I can see a similar logo on the bottom of another work. I recognized the material, so I started to type “polymer clay artist j” into google search and it autocompleted to this guy, so he must be pretty well known in the polymer clay world. Amazing work.
I had a transaction over the weekend where the buyer immediately requested to cancel. Paypal refunded all but 30 cents of their fee.
Yes, I had a buyer recently who said the same thing. Must be a common glitch.
